what? no. how does that even make sense?

I don’t know that’s why I asking? If they speed up the game do they have to change frame data to prevent somethings from becoming broken?

Nice so there will be another mechanic, i actually welcome this…unless it’s delayable wakeup, but i don’t that as an actual mechanic.

Regarding speeding things up, frame data will stay the same, however there would be adjustments needed to compensate for that.

It depends on how they do it. Either they could double the speed, but leave it 60 FPS, and then all the frames are screwed up, or they could double the speed and run it at 120 FPS, and then people with C and lower computers probably can’t play in Turbo mode.

And I really doubt that the consoles could handle a Turbo option in this.

please god, i hope its not delayed wake up, it could really ruin the pace of the game, we already have to guess tons of things … we would have basically a footsies only game , no setup, no ambiguous jump, no combo , no damage rush … just like SF3 without all the good things about it

as for making the game faster , its pretty hilarious , peoples have already big trouble doing AA ultras, SRK AA, whiff punish ect … just because its too fast for them to react to , now imagine if it was faster ?.. but am not against it as a training tool… , and no the frame data wouldnt change , the game will just run faster, you will just have way less time to react to fake blockstring for exemple

How so? The moves used in a (fake)block string still have the same speed and recovery, walking outside of throw range/crouchtech will become a stronger tactic though

its the same speed and frame data but in a faster " game engine ", numbers are the same ,but the visual perception is faster

Hell no. I like the speed the way it is, and I play Seth (2nd/3rd slowest character walk speed).

The thing about speed, is it adds absolutely nothing and takes away more opportunities you would normally react to. You know what would make an interesting game with more strategy? Slowing it down.

Making it faster would make the footsie game a lot more important.

Create-a-character! Sweet. I’ve been waiting for this, and am not disappointed.

Fun story : I played against a third strike player yesterday and he kept sending me message like “damn this game is so slow” but he kept getting hit by hazanshu… come on at least be a good player if you want to complain about how slow this game is :p.

The ex.hazanshu will be a terrible armor break tho, the start up is slow and it goes pretty far forward it will never hit focus attack release which goes forward like seth or sakura ; If the dude backdash they will probably have a free punish as well. It’s a terrible armor breaking move really.

People talking about the game being slow when there’s so much stuff that’s almost impossible for a human to react to.
Let’s make this game more rock paper scissor by speeding it up, good idea.

And that shows a complete lack of understanding of what game speed actually is. Thanks for demonstrating.

game speed is fine, I really hope they don’t mess with it.

delayed wake up sounds good and I hope that it is the “big change” that Ono mentioned.

But this game is slow. Slower than pretty much ever street fighter. The VS series. KoF. All anime fighters. Skullgirls. You name it. Shit both netherrealm games are faster.

And no, you just have slow reflexes. You want unreactable go play marvel against somebody with really good mixups. I’ve never seen anything in SF4 where I go “man my hands just aren’t fast enough. How can anybody block that?”

It is slow. Comparable perhaps to original SF2: The World Warrior, except that game has much faster walk speed.

How they speed up fighting games results in diff frame data. You can’t alter visual perception without altering frame data due to how the game runs. It is still 60FPS. Guess what the FPS stands for? Frames Per Second. The engine always runs at 60fps as does the controller. If you speed it up your only option is: increase the frames per second (not possible due to the engine constraints and other factors such as hardware.) or add a frame skip option. Frame skip results in different and inconsistent frame data as is covered in the combovid article.
