Yeah, I really like the idea of Oni-ing DPs, with the exception of EX versions; you can only FADC on hit unless you want to blow 3 bars. Then again, I also think that Focus Attack Jump Cancel would be awesome…
since i started playing Oni , i though that SRKs in general as AA are stupidly weak, with Oni i dont even bother to SRK AA, i just use st.hp , its sooo good , fast, has a big hitbox, require no motion input, can catch ambiguous short jumps, can catch fake jump attack from far, and give you the possibility to mix up if you’re not afraid of 50/50 on falling opponents … and more importantly peoples stop jumping on me… now compared to a standard Ryu SRK as an AA ?
tight timing, low damage, can trade, require fast input motion, no mix up possibility … and peoples continue to jump on me ! it literally became a legit online tech ! got AA’ed with a SRK ? just jump again ! it can lead to U1 in Ryu case but that’s not point, that Ultra damage are so stupidly low anyways that peoples arnt afraid of it… the fact that st.xx/cr.xx as AA being so good and easy to execute , make actual SRKs feel weak and too risky , you cant even make them safe on block
most of the time when oni anti air dp’s only 1 or 2 hits connect and then it will do really shitty damage for an anti air i think thats what he means
i like the idea of making the later active frames do more damage like sagat and cammy’s uppercut but you have to keep in mind that that would make dp juggles do retarded damage the reason sagat and cammy have it is because sagat cant juggle with another uppercut and cammy can only juggle with the first active frames which does 100 damage
i much preffer the way dp’s worked in older games high damage completely invincible and completely unsafe
also yorkey is a funny guy complaining about dp’s while he plays cviper/yun the bullshit of those characters is stronger than any dp fadc lol
That’s pretty huge considering USF4 comes out that month, wouldn’t they lose money? I mean a friend of mine has been wanting to get into SF, all he would have to do is just download SSF4AE with his godlike internet speed, then download the Ultra DLC for 15 bucks.
its not just for oni but most of shotos SRK as AA, and i agree that it can be problematic in juggle, but they could flag them as normal/low damage in juggle stat , am only concerned by the AA SRKs , i dont really care about juggle damage since you will be in heavy damage reduction anyway at that point
You can’t do standing HP while crouching. The fact that you can DP from crouching is huge for AA. A HPDP as Ryu is the most satisfying thing about picking the character IMO.
Not realy, most people would possibly not even consider this as it’s quite and old game and just a dlc, now as they have the free game they might as well pay the pocket change of 15 bucks to get that update.
Who wants changes that actually encourage a groundgame though? Give me Blue Focus which lets me hold my focus attack, have infinite armor, but I can also teleport forwards, backwards, and in the air(air Blue Focus will flip the character upsidedown to make the focus hitting look “right”) around while charging it.
Well some my be smart enough to catch on. Most players (like me) have been wanting friends to get into SF4, and this is quite the opportunity for them to do so for a cheap price. At least they don’t have spend tons of money like most older players have on previous iterations of the game. You can bet money that their tons of kids asking the question “Should i wait for Ultra!?” That means they have some idea what’s going, and will probably put two and two together with this offer.
you’re right, but you have plenty of time to go from cr>st>st.hp to catch someone jumping on you, but the good ( stupid ) thing about crouching is that you only need to input down-forward motion to get a DP lol
This game has to be the easiest game to AA DP in the history of SF games. Fastest special move startup, fully invincible, all it takes is a wiggle from down-forward to down and back to down-forward to execute. And with the huge autocorrect window, it seems like there isn’t a single jump in that cannot be autocorrect DPd or dashed out of.
If you’re getting bad damage with Oni AA DPs you’re not waiting long enough. I can see where online timing might be tough, so you use HP DP, that’s still 120 unless you’re one-hitting them out of the stratosphere. MP dp has a great first hit hitbox, and will do all 3 hits in animation for 150 if you just let it go with the opponent slightly deeper than what you’re probably used to.
The only time I would use st.hp is if I’m scared of DP like vs Gief U2 or jump arc altering characters.
Making AE free on 360 IS a weird move considering the retail version releases in August. Capcom will probably lose out on 360 sales for the disc version of USF4.
