It’s not an issue of playing honest, it’s an issue with playing too reserved (And yes there is a difference)
When he played Akuma he played him as a ryu with an airfireball. The issue is that Akuma gets next to nothing in terms of damage off that compared to Ryu unless you use his zoning as a method to start your rush down. Which Daigo really didn’t use.
If the opponent knows how to deal with Akuma’s airfireball game you aren’t going to get free demons or combos off the airfireball that often. The exception being characters with slow jumps.
You can play the same zoning game with E.Ryu because apart from the EX Fireball the fireball zoning game is identical and actually helps to have the Red fireball just in case. You have to be more careful with how you throw out c.MK because of the slower speed, but when it hits it hurts.
grapplers are hype because they arnt that much played at very high level , and the very few players who plays them arnt that good expect for snake eyes , cantona and a couple of other Japanese players who can win very bad match ups in paper
watching a gief spd from 10miles because someone whiffed a normal and then get vortexed to death is not fun , funny how no one mention the grapplers retardation

I will say this is true, but at the same time I think Gief’s LP SPD range is kinda insane in this version. I Iiked the Vanilla style better where LP SPD had range, but it wasn’t half the screen. Of course without EX GH knockdown he kinda needs that insane range.
I use to find elf hype back in the vanilla days where sagat/ryu/akuma dominated the game he actually had to work for his damage and stun. Now that said characters are toned down and shadows of their former selves el fuertes game plan is to just be random/derpy and nobody likes random.
Hugo is really poorly designed. He’s just a pile of useless shit, but then a few tools that are incredibly oppressive. It’s silly.

Yun feels really weak defensively without invincible hk upkicks. He’s way easier to rush down haphazardly when he has no meter.
Yang feels “correct” I guess I should say. With his crossup back and his footsies improved he feels like he’s able to execute a real gameplan. I was bullying really hard with far mp and getting good results. Also got a few vortexes off with mk rollkick stuff. I think people will be bitching about that sometime this summer.
Ibuki seems mostly the same.
Delayed wakeup is still a stupid mechanic, and they still just should have shortened knockdowns.
Siliconera is reporting the arcade launch day as 4/17. Additionally, it’s been stated that Decapre will not be available at launch. She will be patched in at a later date. They really went down to the wire on this one…
it won’t work in ultra but I actually found an unblockable off of mk rollkick(no quickrise) a week or two ago, so you’l probably have some good fake crossup stuff at least in those situations.
