I’m actually really looking forward to it because both my character(Eryu and Yun) can use it very effectively. Low forward, shoulder/axe kick, ex red focus into whatever for huge damage.
Fei doesn’t really get that much more damage from EX RFA, since MK FK xx FADC, CW to 3-hit U1(which should work on everybody now) should do about the same as EX RFA to U1. If EX RFA scales twice, it will probably do LESS than FK MK, CW, U1.
Dawgtanian said it only scales as 1 hit. So Fei should get like 470 damage from a command throw with full ultra. So it should do quite a bit more damage than his fadc combo(417 I think) and it works on everybody unlike the fadc combo with using chicken wings.
No, that combo should work on everyone now that the 2nd hit of juggled U1 launches higher. And remembering the details of Dawgtanian “revealing” it, I’m gonna take it with a grain of salt until we get a hard confirmation. If it does scale once though, you’ll just have to decide if those ~80 damage are worth the extra bar and easier execution. that damage gap will also be smaller if you don’t have your ultra gauge full, or run with UW.
I meant that juggling with chicken wing into ultra won’t connect vs everybody. So for part of the cast, you would have no choice but to burn 3 bars into EX red focus if you wanted big damage.
As for confirmation. It really bugs me that they have the game and can’t take a minute to go into training mode and confirm it. When he tweeted his “confirmation”, he left some doubt because I think he said something like he thinks it scales as 1 hit instead of something more assuring like “it does scale as 1 hit”.
Dudley’s SSB changes are stupid as fuck (unless its a mistake or they’ve since changed them). Regular SSBs are throw invincible throughout the whole attack, while EX is throw invincible until first hit…if this is true, who the hell would waste a bar on EX?
When you do flame kick, FADC, MK/HK chicken wing, you won’t get all 3 hits of CW against 10 of the 39 characters in the game. I don’t know most, but I remember for sure all 3 hits of a juggled CW won’t work against Cammy. So for that match up, your only choice would be cl. HP, EX red focus into Ultra if you land a command grab.
Well EXSSB is -2 on block and has the potential to break armour. LpSSB is -2 as well but has less range and damage.
Dudley doesn’t need armour break off of SSB though, the only thing else he ‘needs’ is Thunderbolt to not be a charge move and Cross Counter to not have situations where it whiffs.
Dudley puts people in a juggle state with SSB if they are backdashing or anti aired with it which you can do EX Upper then ultra for 440-490 dmg.So its no wonder they wont give him more damage options.
I don’t understand the st.hp change, that move is godlike already but whatever.
Well, the ex.ssb is effective against great backdashers like Chun.
If you’re tired to see the guy run away from you everytime single time, go for an ex.ssb it’s a guaranteed punish > the dude is in the corner now :).
The sHP change was widely requested because it can be low profiled and loses to moves like Ryu’s crMK. I remember when Combofiend was discussing some of the changes he sent off to japan on stream he said something along the lines of “it’d be awesome if Dudley could smack Ryu in the face when he goes for a crMK” (not an exact quote). Personally I think they should have just made f+MP and f+MK have slightly lower positioned hitboxes, made sMP hitbox taller so that it doesn’t whiff as much due to reeling, and buffed crLK/crLP slightly farther forward. That’s it in terms of his hit boxes that really needed tweaking IMO.
As for SSB, I wonder if they are accurate in the statement “invincible throughout the attack” or if they just mean invincible until active. If it’s throughout the entire attack that does seem odd for EX to not also have that. I don’t think they need throw invincibility through the entire move, just closer to the active frames. I guess if they wanted to make EX SSB seem more useful they could give it like 3-4F of strike invincibility that way he is able to dodge attacks more easily on the pull back before the attack, but I don’t think that’s really needed.
Only things I’d like to see for thunder bolt are making them super cancelable given how unsafe they are, and it’d be pretty cool if the EX version could hit on the way up as a sort of anti air. Otherwise I think it fulfills it’s admitedly limited role as a crossup or not attack that also causes a lot of chip damage (it does more than the normal 25% chip. Light = 40%, Mid = 37.5%, heavy and ex = 35%. Actual chip is 40damage for light, 45 for mid, 50 for heavy and 60 for EX.) also I guess they could make it hit overhead but that doesn’t really seem needed given how telegraphed it is I doubt it would catch anyone off guard crouching.
2 weeks ago they did a poll asking about interest in what characters people would like to see figurines and other goods products for (as well as it being a general popularity poll) Ayano just posted the results to that poll:
Honestly, I’m personally not surprised Decapre is that high up as the original poll was linked from his blog post dedicated entirely to decapre that was released after the final round reveal. I do wonder why it is Japan doesn’t seem to like Rose or C. Viper in any of their polls. I guess of all of the fetishes japan is known for, they aren’t into MILFs lol. I am quite surprised at Hakan and Cody’s positions. Less so for Cody who I expected ~top 15 given his placement in the previous popularity poll. But Hakan? that is out of left field.
I’m also a bit saddened that Rolento is so far down there, but I think that is because Rolento hasn’t ever really been in the mangas or even in the UDON comics. The biggest surprise though has to be Sagat that far down. He is even below deejay who was one of the least popular characters on the old poll, having ranked even farther down than Seth / Viper did.
You take the top 16 (even including decapre) and that’d actually make for a pretty good new street fighter game cast if they didn’t bother making new characters. Offers all of the important playstyles with a wide range of characters. Rushdown, zoning, footsies, frame traps, dive kicks, grapplers, mixups, slow characters and fast characters.
A lot of it has to do with the fact he is one of the only characters Capcom has ever actually DEVELOPED the character and done experimentation with their design as well as letting a character grow and change.
Also I believe he was the first FG character to fight while wearing handcuffs AFAIK which is still kind of unique to him.
Then you have the Final Fight history. (probably the biggest thing about his popularity)
I agree his design is simple though sometimes simple is good. A simple but memorable design can often be better than an overly complex design.
