Actually one thing I hope they tweak in Ultra is how ranked works. “Cool I got 5000 BP!” loses next match -550BP wins next match +30BP lol

Agreed. The points system is way too unfair. I do not mind the seperate rankings but losing so much and gaining so little makes you seem like you’re in the same place all over again.

I don’t want them to do away with points altogether…though I do think it should be tweaked. Hell, just drop the Arcade rank system on us. That way the Master ranks can actually be obtainable by more than .01 percent of the playerbase.

How does the Arcade rank system actually work? I always assumed they were really amazing players to get Warrior ranks and such.

They earn about 3 times as many points as we do. Like maybe 50-100 points but they don’t lose as many points which is also the reason why they’re scores are so high.

Nah, if you look at the win ratios of some of the players in the Acho vids they’re at like 50 percent or so and have Master ranks.

The arcade system is pretty similar to the one we have now, but the numbers are bigger and the penalties for losing are slightly less (hell in the beginning you can even gain a few points for a loss depending on who you play.

The numbers are a lot more dynamic so it feels like less of a grind. Or at least it seems that way looking in from the outside.

My optimistic but realistic unimportant thoughts on Yun’s changes.

The two medium punch buffs look nice, they will help those two normal’s and add a little more bang to ALL of his combos.
As far as i know the counter hit after a missed command grab nerf has been taken off the change list, so that’s good news. Also, the command grab range nerf on the regular and EX command grab is nothing we can’t handle, you can still tick two lights or C. strong into a command grab, you won’t even notice the range nerf for the most part. The best part is we still have Kara command grabs that give you amazing range on the normal and EX command grabs.

The hard up kicks nerf is pretty big, i wish they just made the LIGHT VERSION hit crouchers, then problem solved.

The one point of damage after the command grab for scaling is not as big as it seems. At least with the MP buffs the scaling won’t be bad at all on command grab > Cr.MP < S. MP < Medium or hard up kicks after all. Yun’s even lucky to have a command grab to begin with. Lol
I Also noticed that Yun is in the 75% damage category when it comes to Ultra double Combo, so i think UDC will serve him VERY well in Ultra…
I’m pretty sure a bit more tech will be found out with Yun as Yun players improve, so my final verdict. AE- S tier, AE12- B+, USF4 B tier for the first part, then in the final meta game ( if they don’t do another patch) B+ again.

I don’t know if I’d say he’s my main, but he has the highest BP of my characters, but I’m rather disappointed with how Vega’s being treated. Went from how he is, to giving him a reasonable AA with EX Scarlet Terror getting some startup invincibility, then back to how he is now with a buff to his super, and now he is nerfed. Fun.

Ah well, as long as I can get used to it again, it can’t be that bad. I mean, I’m better with Dan than Ryu, so it’s not like I can’t get around playing a ‘bad’ character.

I thought Vega was just reverted back to his v2012 version with like 1 or 2 cheap buffs, did they really revert him and give him 2 buffs and a random nerf? That’s crazy. But at the same time i guess i’m a little happy, fighting Vega is pretty boring, but universal balance is the goal right?

From a month ago, over in the Vega thread. I didn’t see any further changes at a glance through, just people saying they were hoping to talk to Combofiend about it. But there could be newer changes I just don’t know about.

ranking/matchup system in 3SOE is worse than SF4 IMO. just matches you up randomly as far as I can tell. you can be cruising through your day, on a 50 game win streak, and your next five games are still against guys who you can tell have never played before. what’s worse is when it keeps matching you to the same guy and one of you doesn’t want to play, so you both travel through ranked hitting the back button for 5 minutes until you can find someone else. SF4’s ranked design is much more elegant, though I agree the BP system is messed up and puts the risk-reward way too far towards risk for high point players.

I want a main character. I pray healing is at least decent so I can use Elena, or the 5th character is really exciting and brings something new. Capcom lets me down again and again with character things I get excited about.

  1. I played shotos a lot in my youth, but have boycotted them for that very reason. I only picked up Oni cause of his airdashes…airdashes with a hit box! So despite being a shoto I picked him up. Needless to say his air dashes are only a tiny part of his game. That’s not changing in Ultra.

  2. So Juri right…!!! Oh yeah charging projectiles that should be a blast!!! Feng Shui Engine is easily the most fun Ultra, but her play style is too defensive for me. I do like how she is looking in Ultra, seeming to make her more offense orientated. So a glimmer of hope exists with her.

  3. Well Ibuki…man she is a cool ninja!!! Raida and Hein the only reasons I picked her up. Raida is indeed a blast…but Hein? If you want to die.

  4. Hakan’s oil mechanic is so cool, and I would play him, but I dislike him aesthetically.

  5. Rose is comfortable…but you need more than comfort and a good fit, you need some excitement too.

  6. So I hopped from character to character, bland this or bland that. It is the first fighting game that I couldn’t find a main character, usually the only difficulty is settling on one character from the multiple ones I love.

if they just fix the 00pp/bp problem, i might play some ranked again, also more attainable title/ranks/special visual shit, just some damn incentives to compete … there are 10x time more players in endless than ranked in PC

Healing was slightly toned down and if you watch the stream archive near the end. The player was able to make use of it really well.

Or do something about the rage quitters,If you Come close to beating wolfkrone he WILL ragequit

never ragequitted on me but just known for leaving lobbies and creating new ones when he loses

Good players aren’t immune from rage-quitting and being jerks. I know at least a handful of EU players who attend tournies and yet sit still rage-quit when at home. Awful.

That gives me a lot of hope, I already like how she plays in SFxT with her awesome high low game. Useful healing will seal the deal.

It really is just sad, any true competitor will fight to the bitter end regardless of odds. Only the weak quit.
