Ultra Street Fighter 4 | General Lounge

But the video made it look super easy no strings attached (super jump canceling, meter, ECT)

1-frame links don’t LOOK hard though. You just do the move after the move, doesn’t look hard at all. Jab to U1 with Yang looks super-easy for example.

one frame links are easy, got sakura loops on lockdown no plinking needed, even online most of the time, just pay attention when her body lands and her head just starts to turn at a certain point and repeat.
Best part is when you know for a fact the opponent is mashing shoryuken for there life during them, and you get this tingly feeling. I think it’s about being confident so you see everything more clear, then practice is the number one thing.

I wrote a long response, but the forum seems to have swallowed it up. Basically:

Links are still harder than they look.

A lot of characters can combo into Ultra meterless, even by simply linking from a normal (Cody s.MP to U2 for example), it’s no big deal.

yeah. i agree. its just usually not worth it either because of scaling or knowing that a drop means you get punished by the opponents ultra. but no big deal

In response to the person that asked about what Ayano is saying in the video about Poison, he says the following:
飛び道具、突進技、そして対空技だとバランスのいい必殺技をとられたポイズンですが。
まあ、僕が注目しているのはウルトラコンボツーですね。まあ、その彼女のウルトラコンボツーには僕はもうウルトラ食らってみたいです。

Which basically translates to the following:
“Poison’s special moves offer a great balance between air, rush-down and anti-air moves.
For me though, I’m most interested in her second Ultra Combo. I mean… I would really love to get hit by her second Ultra Combo.”

That last part is kind of hard to translate, but it’s basically Ayano making a joke about him being a really puny Japanese otaku that is in love with Poison so much that he’d love to get kicked in the balls by her.
The last part is also a play-on-words in that he literally says, “I’d ultra like to receive her second Ultra Combo,” with the word “ultra” being used to mean “really want to receive”.

wow thanks eternal !

Ah avoiding watching match footage, keeping the launch more fresh that way. Wonder if they will reveal the other modes next month. There must be some dramatic/scramble type mode included there. They just gotta make it so its 2 on 2 instead of 2 on 1 (like scramble), and all 4 fighters have their own health meter instead of shared (like Alpha 3’s dramatic battle, the meters overlap so they don’t need to change the HUD.) So yea a hybrid could eliminate the weaknesses of both Scramble and Dramatic modes and invent a new mode altogether. The new trials/challenges is okay, but it’s nothing actively useful from a pvp standpoint. People will do those, get them done/or skip them, and then they will be looking for something fun to do with people online besides training and the vanilla modes. Think they should add incentives to do Tournament mode, like icons/trophies that actually are worth competing for or something. Like make Tournament like a career mode in itself offline and online, that keeps giving.

HartleySan! The Hugo trailer is up! Any chance of a translation?

Thanks for the heads up, why didn’t you post a link though? lol

I was lazy. Lol

February 28th follows Rolento, March 7th Elena and on March 14th the Santamu-trailer.

Only 3 more weeks until 5th is revealed, it’s almost pointless to argue about who it is now. I’m just waiting for how disappointed most are going to be because of how long Capcom hyped her up.

New researchers are finding that the 5th character could be Jessica Haggar. If so, that is the most extraordinarily incredible and positively surprising addition to the playable roster. She does deserve a promotion.

Can someone translate this part of the latest saikyo blog?

This is what Google translate says and I kind of feel that it leaves too much room for interpretations to mean VERY different things:

It does sound however like they are saying most players want regular tweaks to the balance and less emphasis on setup style play but that there are also a lot of dissenting opinions to consider as well. I’m not sure though.

Eternal, all that Japanese is saying is that the thing people are requesting the most are basic balance changes that won’t break the game or that won’t completely change how characters are played (or played against). That’s really it.

As for the person that ask about what Ayano-san is saying in the Hugo video, here’s the transcript:
とにかくデカさが魅力のヒューゴーですが、これ見てください。この体力ゲージに頭がかかっちゃってますよね。
このデカさと後は投技ですよね。で、投技だけじゃなくて嘆きも備えている。
こうまさに、この爆発力はウルトラ級です。

And here’s my basic translation:
Here he is. The guy whose giant size you wonder at: Hugo. I mean, look! His head is actually hitting the life bar.
This guy is all about size, throws, and making some noise.
His explosiveness is of the “ultra-est” level.

Sorry for the wonky translation, but Ayano-san really isn’t saying much. He’s saying what he’s saying more to be clever/funny and throw in all sorts of Japanese puns that do not translate well to English than to say something useful/interesting. Also, I’m starting to see a theme between the Hugo video and the Poison video where Ayano-san is trying to use the word ウルトラ (“ultra”) as much as possible.
Anyway, that’s the gist of what he’s saying.

There are also a couple other interesting things to note in Ayano-san’s blog post from yesterday:

  1. Next week will be Elena, not Rolento, as someone above noted. Rolento will be after Elena, and then is the week after Rolento is the Final Round tournament, where the 5th character will be revealed.
  2. Ayano-san just flat-out gave the answer to the binary quiz he gave before. As many on here have already figured out though, the code was “FINAL ROUND”. It’s interesting to note that Ayano-san made a comment along the lines of, “Fans of Twelve were quick to figure this puzzle out.” That could be some sort of reference to the 5th character having a connection to Twelve, which would suggest Effie. Who knows, though.

All of twelves win quotes were in binary just like the code he posted at the end of the previous blog.

When was Ultra going to be released outside of arcades?
