The only characters that could revive the hype we once had, is a character that hasn’t been around for awhile that a lot of people want. Not some random ass mysterious character that’s never been playable. Also its gonna be really lame if its Retsu. Ain’t nobody gonna get hype for that
Just to refresh your guys’ memory: Hakan wasn’t officially revealed to the public until March 11th, 2010. SSFIV was then released to consoles late April.
If Capcom is going for a similar timeline for this 5th character (reveal in March, arcade release in April), then I’ll be pissed.
I don’t care who it is now, as long as it’s not Retsu, i’m actually somewhat hype for a Cammy clone as long as it’s not Retsu… We don’t need old men like
Gouken and Retsu running around, we need Dante and Vergil.
Yup and that truly applies to imo Alex, Haggar, Karin and Urien and possibly Oro… basically the people still playing are the ones that been playing SF since the beginning, including alpha and third strike and final fight games.
Although they are all cool in my book, i want to see the most is Eagle. Haggar and Alex or my 2nd most hype. Then I’d like to see Urien/Necro/Oro thats left from thirdstrike everyone else is pretty much not that interesting…maybe Q…but…nah not really.
I want Haggar to play like his MvC3 character but refined for SF4 and make use of dat pipe… maybe even have it where u pick it up from the floor like Cody’s knife. Would make him a unique big grapplar type with that mechanic. I’m guessing his Lariot will do selfdamage and be unmovable unlike Giefs, probably with more priority.
I would also like to see King Kobra become reality. The idea of a character that’s based on Shonuff is very intriguing.
Really gonna be a bummer to wait so long for so little changes compared to the other updates… it just feels like it’s probably Combofiend and 1 other developer working on this with Anayo producing.
The trials are still in the SSF4 version, which is for some characters like Hakan a problem, cause the AE ,AE2012 or even the USF4 changes created for them new combo possibilities, or even the possibility for a solid BnB combo.
Hakan for example wasn´t able to connect a Oil Slide from a CR.LP or F+LK, either because the Oil Slide was too slow(14f startup even for the LP version, it got reduced to 9f) or because the normal itself wasn´t cancelable into a slide(F+LK).
Since his CR.LK will have less recovery in USF4, new links are possible into any 4f normal.
Similar with Bison F.MP or Blanka´s CR.MK in USF4.
Everybody knows it really isn’t worth the situational input timing or the miniscule damage to put that dive kick in there. Just do double strongs into ultraaaaa
It’s not terrible. You only get like SLIGHT damage though and it’s really dependent on where your opponent is when they’re falling and when you hit them. j.mp j.mp ultra is more consistent.
They should bring back specific character vs character intros. Those were a nice touch. Like Ken giving Ryu a noogie or Makoto and Ibuki both doing air kicks at each other. Beyond just the “fight your rival” bit in the arcade mode it’d just be a nice touch for the actual vs mode.
Seeing current Ultra gameplay it seems to me Capcom doesn’t have much more than Onotool to modify the game. So something like this isn’t going to happen unfortunately.
On the other hand I wonder how they managed to create Poison’s and Rolento’s new Ultras. These turned out pretty well. But maybe they were unused SFxTK assets.
