Ultra street fighter 4 gen changes

I tried changing up my way of meter usage.

Instead of doing Super > Ultra even tho it’s not a guaranteed kill, i started using Ultra W for mostly super-less damage purposes. (Mantis U1 for Super > Ultra or raw AA or anti-crossup AA, Crane U1 for Crane j.HK Ultra, Mantis U2 for whiff punish or midscreen anti-projectile, and Crane U2 for anti-projectile) So far it seems to be working fine as long as it’s not online.

I got blown up quite a few times by doing LK Gekiro on wake-up tho. That muscle memory.

Guys do you have any good setups for DWU? I know few and most of them suck since i have to change to crane so adding the jab doesnt realy work.

Without this i feel so fucking miserable against guile. I play it patiently, then get a jump in. Yay pressure. No. He fucking dwus blocks my shit and proceeds to zone me the fuck out. This matchup looks even harder.

With ultra being out im finding that im using U2 in almost every matchup.
Can you help find some decent mixups after it?

Thanks in advance

Change-to-crane setup works in a different way. First you have to make a setup that involves stance change + Crane jump-in without DWU. Then, you replace stance change with Mantis st.MP (change stance during this move) for DWU.

But yeah, Guile MU is miserable.

Tell me about it…I don’t even bother using lk gekirou as a reversal anymore but breaking old habits is hard.

EDIT: Please disregard

Where exactly does it say that?

EDIT:

My apologies. The links on the website moved me to a totally different section. I manually scrolled it down to find it, and it did have its hitbox extended. Again, sorry about that.

man this nerf … like lk geikiro was a 3 frame reversal or invincible for 60 frames…i don’t see the logic behind…crap!!!

by the time I get my hand on the game you guys will be light years ahead in tech

that lk gekiro nerf is disgusting, that’s the complete removal of a tool from gen’s arsenal

*hey wtf crMP xx hands xx super is too gooood

ok let’s nerf crMP
and let’s nerf the super
and let’s nerf the HK gekiro so they burn meter for a hard knockdown
and let’s nerf the LK gekiro so they always burn meter for reversals
an btw let’s also nerf the EX gekiro follow up kicks, just in case…

hell yeah, gen’s not S-tier anymore, finally

wait… last things for the lulz, let’s change the timing for crLP > sHP link
and let’s switch the timing between HK and EX gekiros to add more fun to the gameplay*

and finally let’s add a game mechanic so that having a hard knockdown doesn’t help you change the momentum of the game…and you got it

Hello all. I am a fellow Gen player that has been lurking…or leeching from the Gen forums for a long time. Going to try to contribute since we need all the help we can get in this version. With Gens illogical new changes, I feel we need a new plan of attack. Is it possible to play Gen as a “rush down” character trying to get a Stun with his U2? Then attempt a cross-up after seen here in The Hoigeks video:

I’ve had some success playing Gen this way but also get blown up alot. I guess the real problem now is Delayed Wake Up. Some friends and I are working on some setups in online training to beat DWU. I’ll keep you posted.

So how’s people’s experiences with Red Focuses? I’ve been happy enough punishing the usual multi hit specials, and I haven’t been blown up by it at all.
Used in combo wise, mostly its been from Crane cr.mp xx roll rfc whenever I only have the three bars.

I feel like roll combos are too much work with little benefits. When I do a red focus, I do it after Mk hands. Then U2 after for some stun.

I haven’t used red focus yet. Not once! I will hit the lab this weekend for some red focus training and see what’s up.

Gen as a “rushdown” character . . . I don’t know, but I’ve been stunning people a lot more now! I guess if you pick the right time to rush down then hells yeah!

The only buff that affects my game so far is frames after lp roll, which is nice. I usually mash hp hands afterwards if I have super. Catches people a lot. The problem is super sucks now. The damage is a joke.

I really can’t find a use for mantis U2 in a match. Wish they would’ve given it as properties.

I suppose there is some merit to the crane cr HK buff though. I suppose OSing it with crouch tech can deal decently with dice kick pressure now.

Anybody else using Vanilla Gen on the side? I haven’t touched Vanilla for almost 3 years so I decided to practice him for our Edition Select side tourneys and it’s pretty confusing switching between Ultra and Vanilla without messing up my timing in Ultra.

Ah…good times. Gen used to build a crazy amount of meter back then. Also, hitting players with the hand loop regardless of character specifics is pretty sweet as well. I almost forgot how fun Vanilla Gen was.

I myself tried, but I’m afraid I won’t be able to play Vanilla Gen. I keep trying to do links from cr.LK > cr.LP. I forgot how slow Mantis cr.LK/st.MP/Crane st.MP/st.HP were and how bad Crane cr.HK was. Not to mention he was my secondary back then and I didn’t even have my own game.
Flying away with EX Oga is really fun tho.

I know. The s.mp > s.mk /s.fp link is crazy slow there. It’s the only thing that I have to constantly adjust when I go back to playing to Ultra.
