Just wondering regarding ultra start ups, when does the animation actually come out?
Is this straight after your imput but before the start up of the move?
I’m interested in how this works because it seems that Rose U2 has 5 frame start up but she seems to be able to block / do anything straight after her U2 comes out
I’ve looked at frame data. I understand that different ultras have different frame data/start up. But where in the frame data does it tell me whether the ultra start up is BEFORE or AFTER the ultra animation? - or is it actually different from each character?
Its because the 5 frames of start up actually take place during the ultra freeze.
Its the same thing for Dan’s super taunt. The whole time while hes freezing time with his taunt, hes invulnerable, but right after hes not. I mistook this as 30 frames of invincibility at first but the invulerability frames are while times frozen anyway, so there pointless.
Frame data for moves with a “flash” should have two startup values. One for before the flash, and one for after. I don’t know Rose’s data very well, but if we can assume the flash comes out instantly followed by five more frames, it should look like 0/5 in the startup portion of the frame data.
I don’t know where you get your info, but maybe they ommitted the before portion because all ultras have an instant flash (as far as I know)
In other games its pretty random. Iron Man’s proton cannon in MvC2 has loads of startup frames before the flash and none after. That’s why you can DHC into it and it becomes a 0 frame attack.
I’m no frame data master but I hope that helped a little.
