Ultra SFIV - Change wishlist for Abel?

Lol, you know I was drunk when I made the first post and was gonna apologize, but shit. Keep it classy with the personal insults

And for the record, the difference between buffing step kick to force stand and cl.hp to hit crouchers is that the latter will make cl.hp more useful in all the situations you might use it outside of step kick. That’s why I’m kind of in favor of making step kick force stand instead, and possibly buffing his cl.hp hitbox in relation to anti-air use. It’s pretty good as is, but not on the level of say Fei, or Yun, or god forbid Cammy’s cl.hp (gross) That was cl.mp can retain it’s use it currently has.

I forgive you

Um, I have nothing to say about this cl. HP change stuff, because it seems it’s such a split issue, but I have an interesting story… I played a Gen this Friday. I have the lifelead, he has super and ultra stocked and we’re in a footsies situation. He walks forward just a tad too far without blocking and I hit stepkick with him standing. The HP followup COMPLETELY whiffed. He didn’t backdash or anything. He just stood there. And Abel swung his arms around like an idiot. And I got comboed to super into ultra for the loss as a result. As the set went on I hit a couple more and the same thing happened a couple more times. Is this how the Gen matchup goes? Is this common knowledge? I didn’t find info on it in the matchup thread. It was on PC if that makes any difference.

If so…that’s not right man, it’s just not right.

I’d check the guide, but that thing is still tough to read through since the srk update
Gen is weird
I think the combo works on him when he crouches only if he’s in one of the two stances.

YEa the majority of the smaller guys the step kick into HP always misses and even if they aren’t crouching lol I hope they fix that issue

if they’re standing?
Majority of small guys?
what?

The bottomline is that move misses too many time because of the size of the opponents…The smaller guys and gals own Abel once he gets close

bottom line is you don’t know what the hell you’re talking about

do ANY of you guys do you’re freakin research? It’s spelled out in BOLD letters who it works on and who it doesn’t in the Abel guide, how can these mistakes keep coming up?
Do you guys even pay attention to counter-hits, do you practice in training mode

BRO do you even play?!?!?!?!

Look bro Abel misses you missed before if you tried to connect on a smaller character hell…even if he has gotten a crossover kick into HP it still misses on crouching characters…He been missing his hits since vanilla and tournament Abel Players been campaigning trying to no get that fixed…The fact that Ken had his target combo fixed in the last iteration says something…The way you talk I hope you have a arcade close to you because That “BRO DO YOU EVEN PLAY,” is an online statement…Truly I haven’t played online since super street fighter

Anyway the long list of characters that it will miss on is on a another thread somewhere look for it

Don’t need it, I’ve done my homework, I know full well which characters it’ll whiff on crouch.

A very fun idea!

Not everybody is as passionate or plays the game as often as you.
To them, having their combo drop for no good reason is understandably frustrating.
You should understand that.

I like you’re passion but for your own sake and for the sake of the forums, would you kindly hold back a little? This is supposed to be an open place for EVERYBODY to come and talk/discuss so plz play nice.

There will ALWAYS be those around who don’t know and need help, to get annoyed at them for natural ignorance is a little silly of you.

lol you guys are funny, I thought you can’t repost other threads since the information already on the Abel forums anyway I hope you guys win a major this year…

I notice something else that can be a good change for Abel if they’re trying to fix the crouching opponents hit box when going for the St. HP.

I think his Ultra 2 should be changed to have invulnerability on start-up or something because once the you go into the ultra you can be thrown out of it lol and I think that’s silly

Re… straining…

You’re funny

by the gods. such an adult.

I did my homework. Nothing in the Abel Guide mentions st. HP missing on Gen standing after a hit step kick. Crocuhing Gen, check. Meaties on Gen, check. Step kick, st. HP on standing Gen, no check. That’s why I’m wondering if it’s a PC issue.

Maybe he blew the combo or was it on counter-hit…because on counter hit they reel back a little bit…was it really close or at max range…its really complicated to describe it but Good job researching

I was playing SfxTK for awhile and I was thinking that all the new moves added to certain characters n the street fighter universe I like Ryus Donkey kick is cool and I like Abel Shoulder Tackle…do you guys think they will add that move…I see on the forums on other characters people asking for Ryus kick but I’m not sure if they add anything to it

I didn’t blow the combo. I managed to replicate it in training mode a couple times. Standing Gen. Counterhit. About midway between and at near max step kick distance. In the corner too. The first hit of st. HP just sails right through him when he’s in his Hands stance (Mantis?). I didn’t test the other one (Crane?) because I know for a fact that when I whiffed it he was in Mantis, though Crane might have its issues too. And I did that research (the meaty Gen, crouching Gen stuff etc. in my previous post) before I asked my original question. Though it seems unlikely that every step kick I landed in the footsie situation was counterhit, it’s the only way I’ve managed to replicate it. I hope this will help make other players aware. Fish for your counterhits with cr. MP against Gen instead. Then you can link into step kick for your combo of choice, providing all the other conditions are met.

Yes, there are these additional nuances in certain character match-ups that I perhaps mistakenly thought were too specific to include within the Abel Guide.

Besides this interaction with Gen that you’ve discovered
there are these three from what I can recall from the top of my head.

Step kick Fierce works on a crouching Balrog only on regular hit
will whiff on counter hit if timed normally.

Guy = Same as balrog

Step kick fierce will whiff on a Standing Blanka IF on counter-hit.

I’ll review my personal notes and perhaps supplement the Abel guide with these factoids.
I’m glad this issue is coming up, shows you guys are playing hard and taking notice of small details, that’s good!
