Finally had a long session + training mode time at a friend’s place. I haven’t seen it mentioned anywhere but it’s obvious the forward movement of the ex hands has been buffed. I was landing standing jab into fierce hands, ex hands, crouching jab into ex buttslam ON FEI LONG(that jewelman combo variation didn’t work on him before). Didn’t have much time to test some stuff I wanted to test but seems like(against guile) most of his unblockables are now fake crossups and some of his fake crossups are now unblockables. Also tested some OS stuff against delayed wakeup and got some meaty stuff that worked against my friend. Ultra 2 seems like a legit punish against some stuff now. And Hugo is lots of fun!

@Angerus I wouldn’t say I’m back lol. About the unblockables, I need a longer session just to test them, but it’s either that or my friend sucks at blocking, lol. I’m interested in new possible ex hands combos since it moves forward a bit more now.
Oh my God. This is very interesting, Gutabo. This combo should do a ton of dmg, and if it works on Fei long, it should work on many others. I’m very interested in new Ex Hands combos, esp. since now they are much easier
Randomly picked a character I know jewelman works which happened to be Dictator. The above jab x fierce hands, ex hands, jab x ex buttslam works. If I’m going to spend 2 bars though it seems just doing jab x fierce hands, ex hands, jab x ex hands, jab x hands, roundhouse is better though. Was 60 or 70 more damage if I recall correctly. So basically its whether you want the knockdown or the damage.
Honda in USF IV is so much fun to Play.
esppecially U2, so many opponent eat Honda butt lol
but still have problem against Projectile character especially Shoto
To add on to that, if you mash cr.HP after the Ex Buttslam knockdown, and they wake up mashing, the cr.HP hits meaty and the counterhit lets you link cr.LP off it. It’s a little obscure, but pretty satisfying to pull off.
This is interesting and I went to training mode with this and tested it out from cr.lp xx h.hhs, ex buttslam.
From my results, you’ll have to time the cr.HP to hit it meaty, you can’t simply mash it.
If you do it too early, the attack will just whiff and you’re in recovery frame city.
As a matter of fact, even if you think about replacing cr.HP with st.HP or cr.HK. They whiff as well if done too early.
cr.HK has 14 startup frames and 2 active frames
cr.HP has 11 startup frames and 4 active frames
far HP has 10 startup frames and 6 active frames
If you hit cr.HP meaty, you’re +5 on hit/+1 on block.
If you hit s.HP meaty, you’re +7 on hit/+3 on block
You don’t really need counterhit to link cr.lp afterwards, you can also step a couple of frames forward to get close hp and get much more frame advantage on hit/block as a meaty.
I’m having trouble with double ultra but not with Honda, but with Vega. Even though I know I’m doing the correct motions for U1 the game refuses to recognize that I’m doing U1 and keeps launching U2.
drives me nuts cuz most of the time this happens I’m launching U1 to punish something on reaction. like a fireball toss or jump or something where U1>U2.
as for Honda, they shouldn’t have changed U2 motions from half circle back x 2 to that damn spd motions.

Ah, didn’t know you could do it too early, it’s a trick I figured out in match play and never tested thoroughly in training mode. For sure you can just do cl.HP, I just thought cr.HP had an auto-timing, so that’s why I was preferring it. Given this new info, you’re better off doing cl.HP since it’s an easier link (and one you probably actually practice, unlike linking after cr.HP), and you can generally do a better combo after it.
In other news, Poison is tall enough to make the downwards hit of buttslam always be -3 on block and get a cr.LP, s.MK xx Rekka punish
so yeah this is no longer really “first thoughts” rather “6 months in thoughts” game dropped in June
buffs / nerfs overall to honda didnt seem like they would affect the game that much but the more i play it the more i am losing to characters i used to never lose to like dudley, GUY t hawk, rose, blanka, KEN, Juri. somehow all these characters that were garbage before are giving me a hard time. i just feel like i am neutered and in no way stronger. way less of a threat in almost every matchup. just my luck every time i drop an EX HHS link i get mucked by a mashed DP. that move pisses me off because i think it could add a lot to my damage output and game and its just too hard to hit with any sort of consistency.
i think overall EVERY single match feels harder now for honda. some of the bad matches dont seem SO BAD now but the good ones defeinitely all got worse. i think i am having a hard time adapting to the fadc nerf because i dont think ive hit someone ONCE with a cr jab xx hhs trying to dash up, always seems 1fr too late. just eat a 2nd DP fadc ultra for fuck sakes!
sagat matchup seems actually even worse in the end, at first it was a bit easier to hit u1 but i almost never get to hit u1 vs good players. its not something that you can rely on. ex headbutt nerf in general has made me use the button very seldom so i am eating a shit load of throws and forced to go for lk buttslams to the point where im just guessing shit in people’s strings with no real effective way of getting them off of me.
u2 is kind of dogshit the range upgrade really doesnt too a whole lot. red focus is dogshit because you have to be deep as balls to actually hit and the cancel window is trash. gahhh
really at a point where i want to start grinding full time with honda again to be the best, but all in all maybe my time is better spent put into decapre and guile even though i am losing like crazy with them. maybe should start playing cammy charge characters all seem like butthole now. i think its too late to drop him against my good matchups, i still want to play him in those, but god damn i wish we would have got at least 1 useful buff (maybe jump mp was the only good one) shit feels way harder now, but in the end i think more satisfying to win with the character everyone is saying bottom 5.
-Crouch LP does 50 damage from 40
-Crouch LK does 40 from 30
-EX slaps moves him forward on its own without directional input
-Bug fix where you couldn’t delay-wakeup after headbutt
-U2 is now half circle back twice again, does 500 damage from 450
Random damage buffs, EX hands always moves forward, corrected U2 command + 50dmg.
For a little update this isn’t terrible especially on the U2 front, means my super/U1 shouldn’t come out when I want U2. I never realised headbutt was supposed to allow delayed wake up.
