Ultra Compendium (WIP)

As far as I know 30 frames = 1 second. The game runs at 60fps but it only actually uses 30 different animation frames or something.

The whiff punish Ochio (honda).

Nothing new but look the time the chun li take to do the ultra.
When chun li start the dash, honda has already “finish” his move and i was thinking it’s too late but it’s not the case.

So chun li ultra is the best to whiff punish a move ^^. It’s not a move to use only versus fireball :tup:

I thought I heard ed ma saying something about the animation frames being different to the refresh rate on gootecks sf4 secrets podcast but right now I’m pretty not sure…

Edit: wait he does at 3:50 on ‘04 - Exploring Street Fighter 4 & Countering Ultras’ if you guys have that and want to double check. Charge always felt like 2 seconds to me, if charge is 55 frames then it seems to confirm the theory that frame data counts as running at 30 fps because that’s the level the animators worked at. The software and hardware extrapolate intermediate frames perhaps? I dunno.

They both indicate that SF4 is measured 60 fps.

Yes edma was wrong, he noticed that after on SRK.

You don’t need 2 second to charge a move, just less of one second (0,96 seconds)

Hi i was looking a match of daigo (ryu) Vs Sagat

Each time sagat do a Tiger Uppercut FADC, Daigo do a crouch lp instead of trying to throw/ tech throw.

And each time Sagat do a Tger Uppercut FA Backdash Cancel, Daigo a Forward + HP.

So i start looking frame data after FADC.

The engine of the game add 3 frame of malus on the Dash.

Sagat Tiger uppercut = 20 frames block stun

His Dash = 18 + 3 = 21

So Sagat has - 1 after Tiger Uppercut FADC and it’s why Daigo try 2 lp instead of throw.

Nothing new but when i look at Backdash, i see something cool.

Sagat backdash = 29 + 3 = 32 frames.
So Sagat has - 11. It’s why Daigo choose to do Forward + HP.

But with -11, Chun li has a great move. His ultra ^^

Of Course FA Backdash Cancel is rare but it’s good to know that

Guile : Flash kick backdash = -9

Ryu, ken : dragon back dash = - 10

Zangief : Ex Green hand backdash = - 11

Akuma : Dragon backdash = - 8

Boxer : TAP backdash = - 10

Boxer : Dash straight back dash = - 7 (lp) , - 9 (mp), -10 (HP)

If chun li can threat them to use FADC with 2lk, 2lp or even Hazan shu lk then they will perhaps start using Backdash

I’ve begun adding “Far” to chars that don’t easily juggle in the corner unless you launch them pretty high, but I can’t really tell if I suck or if it’s not possible for some so help would be appreciated with that.

Usually Ryu will FADC back if he has you in the corner.

Perhaps a setup with The crossup DF + HK to bait a reversal dragon FADC Back ?? ( if you have time to charge your ultra of course)

And i notice Shoto love FADC Back when they use their Dragon like anti air

Perhaps Safe jump setup can be good too.

About juggle Ultra, i will try to do a screenshot of each stage. Can be an help i think

Updated and corrected juggle and punish data.

ELF also juggles in the corner, far. if anyone can make viper juggle, that’d make be very happy.

edit: nevermind… after a few more attempts, i was able to make her juggle aswell, far ofcourse. you can now remove your edit, dime :slight_smile:

idk how interesting this is now, seeing ssfiv is just around the corner, but viper (and bison) atleast will fully juggle up close in the corner off of an ex sbk, if ultra is done somewhat early. seems hard to make it happen without having them go into the spiral motion thingy out of the sbk, as your ultra won’t come out fast enough.

Any new updates with this, for new characters? And old character changes?

yea…you cant punish Dhalsims FP with ultra I just tried like 2 times in a match reversal both times…

I’d like to update this, but I still don’t have access to Super. I actually have a boxed copy but no console to play it on. If you do have stuff to add, post it and I’ll update. In the meantime, I need about $300…

Focus absorb dash ultra works. That should be added!

I’m not sure what you mean, but I have FADC ultra covered under “Dash Ultra”.

EDIT: I just realized I was using white as a color, which was fine under the old SRK skin I was using. Why didn’t anyone tell me it’s a PITA on other skins? Gotta fix it…
