Hahaha man, Team Tally all started off 0-1. Man, what’s going on
whatever I got fifth.
Because it’s really Team “We cram for tournaments like they’re college exams”. Don’t play shit for weeks, then go on binges for hours the day before!
3-2 for me. Ugh.
I just realized how ridiculous the rules for this tourney are. .::Tension Pulse 2011::. November 19th 2011, Atlanta GA
Read this shit.
[details=Spoiler]I don’t believe in button shouldering due to me growing up playing 2D fighters in the arcades and that I want to prep for SBO. I want to keep the tournaments as close to arcade perfect as I can, so I came up with this solution:
“Button shouldering” is ONLY allowed for SSFIV pad players:
(THAT MEANS IF YOU RESET YOUR BUTTONS YOU MUST PUT THE DEFAULT MULTI-BUTTONS ON BLANK or no function!!!) So that mean you won’t have your 3xkick button, or 3xpunch button. Any default presets that are “NOT” like the arcade set up are “not allowed”. If you don’t have a 3x punch or kick button in the arcade then you won’t use it during the tournament! We are trying to make it as close to arcade type tournament as possible. IT IS HOWEVER LEGAL TO BUTTON SHOULDER FOR SSFIV ONLY IF YOU’RE PLAYING ON A PAD (NOT STICK) AND ONLY FOR SSFIV.[/details]
“I want this to be as close to the arcade as possible, so fuck pad players but only sometimes.”
Glad I didn’t go to another hackneyed event.
It was pretty well done, actually. Why would that be a big deal? You play on stick and all the pad players didn’t care.
WoW. That’s dick.
Posted on FB, but i’ll post here too…
I need some folks that can help me move a pinball machine into my house tomorrow. Pizza will be provided as well as games.
Because it’s wishy-washy and starts approaching Smash Bros. territory when you begin banning features of the game. (Yes, I know SFxT is probably going to hit this point.) The strive for being ‘arcade-like’ because the guy wants to train for SBO is cool, but these kinds of rules are just nonsensical.
I don’t know how UMvC3 works on pad, but I do know that playing pad MvC2 without a dash button was near-impossible.
EDIT: Adam, what time?
Man they didn’t even let Tekken players set any binds
I feel much better overall about Ultimate and who/the way I play… now it’s time for a mad blow up session. Ron if you’re awake tomorrow around 5 (I’ll check on AIM) I’d love to play some. Logan if you’re home too I wanna try out that Strider!
Whenever you’re free man. I just need to get it in here asap. I’d also like to play a bit of Ultimate and try out my Hulk.
fuck
You know it was standard to ban button shouldering at every tournament a few years back. Also I would like to direct you to http://www.finalround.org/FRXV/rules.cfm - the eighth bullet. These rules are old and I’m pretty sure it’s not enforced anymore, but up until SF4 button shouldering was never allowed at FR except for Guilty Gear.
Good times to Drew, Mike J, and Chris A at the Columbus tourney. I got bodied in everything… But I would have taken that Arcana Hearts money if we had stayed.
Shoutouts to Mike J’s awesome Firebrand showing. There might actually be a good Marvel player in Tallahassee after all.
GG to all who made it out to Tension Pulse, glad you guys came
The way that’s worded (“default available inputs may be rearranged to different positions if necessary”) sounds like they’re allowing you to use the 3P or 3K macros, or dash macros for UMvC3. This sounds totally normal. Tension Pulse’s rules were worded such that you have to completely disable anything that isn’t standard buttons (ABCD and Exchange) for UMvC3 which sounds pretty damning for pad players. Fairly certain FR allowed dash macros on pads…I know Fanatiq plays MvC2 on pad and almost always had access to a one-button dash.
Mike, you’re getting binds (buttons that give you access to combinations of normal face buttons, like putting a soul calibur B throw or 1+4 onto a shoulder button) confused with macros (having a Dragon Punch button). I think technically a macro refers to a button that also includes directional inputs to create some sort of special/hyper/super/etc. Hey lemme know if you want to play again today, I’m free around 5 or 6 and I want to work on more Frank/Strange stuff.
Like I said, up until SF4 they (and many other tournaments) absolutely did not save for Guilty Gear. Fanatiq would play on stick when OBD wasn’t allowed. It’s an archaic way of thinking, but it’s not new.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=0VClLTCxB7s - This guy would actually prefer everything but arcade sticks w/ default layout be banned. People are just weird.
for Mike J who was asking about if videos will be on youtube, there’s the stream archive, beginning of part 2 ( http://www.twitch.tv/funkyp/b/300445775 ) has that unblockable you wanted footage of i think. videos will be on http://www.youtube.com/user/sukijones357 as well but theres no guarantee how soon.
ggs anyone i played, good to meet y’all
I got Skyward Sword. Also Drew, i have an 8Gb micro and a 16gb standard, as well a a 4Gb SanDisk ProDuo. Hit me up.
EDiT: This game looks like horse crap. I’m talking FF7 graphics here. Plus i’m getting nonstop graphics glitches (dot flickering) on every screen, even the map screen. Does anybody have RCA cables for Wii that i could borrow? A lot of online forums suggest that ba Component cables might be to blame for the flickering.
That sounds like your GPU is effed bud…
