Ultimate Spencer: UMvC3 changelog (Now official!)

Yea, over the past few days I’ve been off and on practicing the more ‘traditional’ relaunch combo. I can do it fine, but I don’t trust it in a pinch since I’m soooooo used to either using my Cap assist and L.grapple to get them nearer the corner, or dashing into a TK otg instead.

After viewing Max’s newest changlog video today, I’m both super super super excited for Spencer’s very noticable speed increase on Zipline movement…and concerned on how that’s going to affect the combos I do right now. I know I’ll possibly be changing some due to hitstun deter./L.grapple dmg, but this could really shake things up combowise when we need to do multiple grapples to position ourselves midcombo.

This should be very interesting, I didn’t think I could be MORE excited for the game, but someone how it keeps growing! Cap, Spencer, and IronMan are all looking better in some ways (a couple might not be good, but we’ll see), and it would be nice to have some more options to use with my most used team.

Day 2 (at least) I’ll be digging into Nova (looks awesome to me from reveal), Hawkeye, and Iron Fist. Gotta find out how I can either make them a team, and/or interact with my 3 main doods. :smiley:

I’m also EXTREMELY anxious to see how well I can still use my beloved Slant shot assist!

That DLC costume needs more stache for my tastes but I’ll take it over his default skin any day.

80k unscaled grapples are still in? Guess I gotta step my execution up…

Translation from that guy’s vid:

  • ground dash sped up, can armor piercer midscreen > dash up and combo.
  • reel in punch hyper cancellable
  • bionic maneuvers resets ground bounce, so more than 1 death from above otg ground bounce per combo is possible
  • “more difficult” to combo from sped up down-forward zip line. Just doing jab > armor piercer is a solution that he found.

YES. I am so happy with what I’m seeing, so much damage possible with bomber combos. Cannot wait till the 15th

got my hands on spencer last night…his zip is ALOT faster…some combo’s do have to be adjusted tho…the corner combo off the OTG down grapple into the forward zip, then diagnal zip into launcher, jump cancel up grapple still worked…so all the missle otg stuff is still in tact…along with the 80k damage…whats better now with the missle assist, is now you can do 2 verticle grapples instead of 1 then the hyper…because you can follow the second up with DFA into hyper…so sick…his pressure game and mixup game with zip+assist is so much stronger. also, one this i noticed, when ever i would call an assist and barely jump and do down+towards zip, i would usually end up behind them instead of hitting them with the zip and staying in front…which i loved…cant wait to get more game time with him…didnt get to take him into training room yet since everyone was hype and just playing casuals

WTF? Haha, Spencer is godlike now! He would’ve been fine if they left him but these buffs are just crazy!!!

His buffs is just to compensate for the lost of the DHC glitch. He’s more or less the same.

He may be Godlike now, but in reality, he’s always been.

Looks like these changes open up a lot of doors for creativity, such as Bomber stuff and crossing up with the faster Zip as said above. Exciting.

What spot do you see Spencer filling in ultimate? His extended solo combo ability seems to lend himself to being an even better anchor it would seem.

With buffs like these he’s honestly going to fill just about any spot better lol. Sped-up Zip wires for level 3 will be ridiculous and he’ll still remain a strong character. While I personally intend to keep him on point, I think he’ll honestly work best as 2nd; gives him a bit more meter to work with (since he can use 2 bars more readily/efficiently now), can use level 2 x-factor and still have an assist to help with the approach.

:eek: I have to admit, I wasn’t ready to give Spencer the benefit of the doubt. I was pretty wrong about this one.

Yeah, faster Zips are going to allow him to run away really well too. Good crossups into overhead, etc. as well, as if they already weren’t good.

Bionic Arming Wesker now will be fun, seeing as the invuln frames got moved to being after the flash.

Confirmed, Spencer’s zipline buffs make him one of the nastiest rushdown characters in UMVC3.

After zipline kick midscreen, you can diagonal-down-forward zip line, LAND, then hit LAUNCHER, which was impossible in vanilla. The speed screws up a lot of combos, but gives him some new opportunities.

It’s almost impossible to do the Death From Above when you’re really close to the ground. Sometimes it just won’t come out. I’m not liking the move. Fortunately, his other buffs are MORE than enough to take him to godlike status.
