Yeah, I’m right there with you on the Dante combo complaints. I’m told by those more familiar with the DMC games than I that these combos are fairly faithful to those games. What the MvC3 devs have apparently forgotten is that DMC is generally a single-player pursuit that is all about making the player feel like a complete badass. The DMC AI probably doesn’t mind being juggled for the better part of a minute, but I sure as hell do. I’m not there to star in my opponent’s combo video, I want a chance to play too. Or at least get the damn combo over with quickly so my next character can come out. Sitting there for that length of time, unable to make any decisions as a player, absolutely sucks.

Didn’t Dante allegedly get an arbitrary OTG limit in UMvC3? Or was I just hearing things?
Only thing I heard was that the hit stun deterioration catches up faster during OTG’s so you have to act faster during them to continue comboing.
The dog has no trouble with Trish unless you’re mindlessly trying to get in her face (imagine that). First off, if you’re fighting Trish with Dog and you aren’t chucking Okami Shuffle to keep her honest, you’re doing it wrong. Regardless of hit or block, you got enough time to get in her face with an air-dash (lol) after it finishes and she can’t punish you during the hyper. Besides, have you ever had Trish come to you instead of the other way around? Fireworks says hi to her dive-kick. That and Jam Session/Purification is really good against her.
Trish beats characters for different reasons that Ammy beats characters. Trish’s traps kill rushdown and she stays in the air for most of the match. Ammy is a walking swiss army knife with a hurtbox the size of an actual swiss army knife. Also, Trish has a somewhat negligible life-advantage over the dog.
You can say that Ammy’s tools aren’t the best in the game and I’d agree with you. However, sit down and list the number of characters that play rushdown and run away better than the Sun goddess. That list is looking mighty short. Only her zoning game could be considered as “adequate”. I believe whole-heartedly Amaterasu is perfectly balanced and yes, being able to compete isn’t an excuse for a nerf. However (and I’m playing devil’s advocate), her air-dash could have been arguably too good (lying out my ass here) against the zoning game that Capcom is trying to promote. That being said, Ammy might send her “brown rage” in a paper bag to some game developers unless she gets her airdash guard back.

Wow I was on page 5 reading all this, then I just saw Dante complaints and such and decided to ski[ tp 28 and somehow it’s STILL going on. Im going to just put my 2 cents into this dante thing…(seriously its just a back story on why i dont like being part of the dante sterotype, feel free to skip XD)
I decided from DAY 1 that dante was on my team. you could say im a DMC fan, but not so much a fanboy, i enjoy the games a lot and for me im a guy who likes to do combo’s for days, which is why i like dmc 3 and 4 so much, have you seen those combo videos? lol anyway I told my friends “Whether he’s god tier, or shit tier, he’s going to be on my main team for fucking ever, so be prepared for that.” It didn’t matter the learning curve, his moves, nothing, all i wanted was to have dante on my main team lol, he was ever the only sure-fire one. Actually Hsien-ko was also for sure and then i tried all on day one, then i came across phoenix…i fucking LOVED phoenix, and it wasn’t even so much dark phoenix, and then that team was born. later on i figured Hsien-ko wasn’t pulling her weight so after some tests taskmaster was second and then dante,task,PH, was my main team for MONTHS. I ignored people saying i was trying to use a gimmick, but really I just liked the character and that was it, i didn’t even play like, super jump SHOTSHOTSHOTEVERYBOODY, teleport gimmicks unless i was scared to move in lol. After a while i got sick of not being able to use my bars and i dropped her in like april for viper and thats stuck ever since (minus the two or so weeks i used x-23)
back to Dante after that pointless story…
I think he does have a ton of options and stuff, but i feel like people are complaining about him to much, TBH with you all the only Dante fighting experience i have is online, and thats definitely not viable, getting hit with jumping s…anyway…but typically when i first get hit, dante is gone…i mean he has low health, im not saying thats an excuse for it, but you all realize that, by himself, dante does shit damage…i did this event where ten hits needed to be done before damage…yeah dante could hardly put dents in people. So aside from his low damage output he has very low health (to me at least) and his normals are a tad slow…but i do understand that he has the most options than anyone, but he naturally has 40+ moves…im sure people won’t believe that he’s still missing quit a few moves lol.
idk i see everyone’s point and respect it, but all this complaining about nerfs for him seem a little to much? id like some respectable opinions on why they really think dante should be nerfed in the way they want…i mean…he seemed fine to me…but like i said i have never been able to face a pro dante other than myself so i really dont know ANY pains of dighting a dante.
TL;DR version: Why should dante be nerfed, i’d like some evidence of personal experience and what not, not just because you dont like it…
Dante with the right assists a hell of a pain to fight because long ranged assists like beams and sent drones give him free ass ports and shut down your attempts to advance guard. Meaning if you block his assist and he goes for a teleport good luck not taking an unscaled combo.
Online play kinda hinders my ability to do combos online (which is why I usually play offline) but you can just look at this as a reference for the damage I normally do with Dante by himself.

The first real combo I land in that video takes off like near 70-80 percent of Zero’s health before I even do a super. Meaning he can land near 550-600k damage off a ground hit extremely easily before even going into super. He’s definitely not lacking in the damage department at all. There’s definitely plenty of characters that wish they could do that much damage before super.
His hammer special alone is enough to bitch about him all day because it’s basically what would happen if his j.S got a super shot of steroids. j.S is a Morrigan fireball compared to hammer.
If you think the following needs nerfs…than so does Dante.

He is better than more than half of the above. Dante is the Vanilla Akuma of this game, he is more retarded than people give him credit.
The answer is that the Dante you’re playing is not the Dante that people are complaining about. He has B&B combos that do 800k damage and build 2.5+ bars in the process. His normals have huge range and priority. His specials give him an amazing control of the screen. He can setup nasty mixups just by calling an assist and teleporting. He has great mixups on incoming characters. He has great assists and can play pretty comfortably anywhere on a team. He can start or end the DHC glitch.
My beef with Dante isn’t personal because I play him too. He’s just way too much. If he gives up a little damage, loses the hammer invuln craziness, he’ll be just really good and probably where he should be.
First I see people claim that Zero combos with 2 assists does 500k and now this? I swear, half the people on this board set their damage to “Way too fucking low.”
