im trying to develop some tac stuff with my IM as well. some theory i was thinking of was whether or not there is an OS for superjumping characters that will let them hit with a h or m or whatever and os to tac for the easy confirm. whereas if blocked no tac will come out. probably not… probably need a launcher to get tacs to come out. dont know much about marvels superjump mechanics but if that were possible it would be REALLY good. especially for IM since his superjump H is godlike for air to air.

Those Marlin Pie TAC’s are going to make sure Phoenix stays relevant for sure. They make Magneto combos look boring. Doom all up in your ass with air L’s…ridiculous.

Just finished watching the video… I regret it already… I played like ass. Basically if my Spencer didn’t do his job, my whole team loses…

I remember your friend used to play Zero, Tron, Phoenix and that was retardedly annoying. I played him once I think he beat me 15 game straight because I didn’t ( and still don’t) know how to fight Zero.

Later I find with Wesker, you have to use Super jump and jump gun more to control space and lock them down with the assist, then you go in. You can do similar things with IM and frustrate him a bit, but because you don’t have a strong neutral assist, Zero is most likely going get you on the ground or with Lightning, Buster sooner than later.

I think Spencer against Zero is bad, but if you hit him with a random beam assist, you can get in and kill him quickly.

Yeah I only watched a match or two but I remember my brother walking by and watching a part of the match and going “what the hell is Spencer doing with an OTG assist…LOL” I’m pretty sure you can milk hella damage out of him without running the OTG assist which I’m assuming is what he’s going by. The mix ups you can do with beam assist are strong enough where you won’t necessarily need the low OTG assist for mix ups either.

I would say the best way to order the team is Wesker first, Spencer second, Iron Man 3rd. With the type of assists and DHC’s the team provides the only way to maximize the team is to run Wesker first. He’s going to have to be doing a lot of the work.

You’re not really going to have any safe DHC’s across the board. The closest would be wesker and max wesker can still get full screen punished by beams or punished by anything at closer ranges. That’s kind of the point of Wesker…sub par DHC options but everything is safe on block to compensate so you can just go wild with 1,000k health and assists until you die. Wesker is probably a bit overcompensated in that regard but…it’s Wesker take what you can get. You don’t need to spend meter to kill people off with him and you got 2 assists that are both great for his mix up and probably even extending his combos. He also has the best movement of the 3 and the best quickest frames which means you can bully people at the start of the round safely much more easily than you can with Spencer or Anchor Man.

Wesker has air gun shot loops he can start off his ghost butterfly (qcf+M) special in combos that TOD’s most of the cast without having to spend more than one or 2 meters and builds solid meter. Once you learn those consistently you can just go stupid with Wesker in the front whenever you hit somebody. You can really go stupid if you hit them even if you were to somehow crazily choose not to use those combos.

Reason being is that slant shot assist is really great for anyone who revolves around quick left/right mix ups like Wesker. Spencer’s Slant Shot assist can set up nasty mix up anytime you pop them in the air by calling it after you OTG gun shot them or anything else that leaves the in an aerial reset. Just call the assist and dash under them to ambiguously cross them and if they guess wrong they get stuck in a standing position where you can full combo them as if they were on the ground. A combo into reset into slant shot will pretty much ensure most of the cast dies pretty free.

If that fails you always got Spencer with XF2 and a beam assist or Anchor Man. Of course you don’t want to have Anchor Man have to fight unless you absolutely have to since Spencer doesn’t really provide that great of an assist for him. You can probably do some tricky stuff with Iron Man after you hit somebody with him with the slant shot assist but for the most part Iron Man can just kill people any way so you can probably just use it somewhere to extend a combo if you so happen to land one. Otherwise you’re just trying to XF kill people at that point. Spencer with XF2 + beam assist can take care of whatever Wesker didn’t do and you basically get an improvement of the way the front of your team is set up now overall if Wesker dies.

Wesker can generally play much lamer and outmaneuver and outpoke characters like Zero and Wolverine more effectively than Spencer at the start of the round. Plus he doesn’t require meter spending to do a lot of damage or just outright kill people so he works great as a battery for Spencer sitting on meters + XF where Spencer basically becomes a walking dragon punch of death at that point.

hmm… after playing UMvC3 more or less all day today… I’m left feeling like I don’t wanna play it anymore… what do I do now? It seems like all the effort I put into my team/characters just amount to nothing in the end… I can win most my matches online, and then proceed to losing all my matches against friends/wso competitors… I started using s.h xx fly m,h s JUMP mm d.H s c.m… for anti airs to… okay results… I’ve tried to implement j.h fly m d.h to get hit confirms from air to air situations… all well and good, I can do them well against most players… then I played against Hype again…
got mauled my wolverine… was forced to just block vs dooms j.S… then bk4revenge murdered me with Zero…

This game is getting less fun every day.

I have no issue with putting effort in, to get results… but, using these tools against chars like these (hell even like MINE) just feels unfair.

I get rushed down by Felicias… I get lamed out by Morrigans… a decent Chun Li came out of the woodwork today, and I was lost…

btw, IM seems to get more damage from a successful air to air confirm than a ground to air one.

Vs zero with wesker xfactor lv1 kill with the first touch a lot of problem solve of course if they don’t have phoenix, wesker …

Maybe play another team would help. I get mauled by my friend’s Magneto and Zero all the time and I do get very mad, but it only makes me want to have a extreme salty runback and practice more.

Indeed, I don’t like their east coast/cockney commentary neither. In fact it is very annoying.

After some deliberation, I’ve decided to change the 2nd character of my team, which is now Zero/IM/Ammy. I’m really liking him so far; I know he’s not exactly the best character in the game, but he’s fun to use and his assists are too good to ignore (Zero loves Repulsor Blast).

I think you have the best order. Spencer does benefit a lot from OTG assists despite what you may have heard. no matter where you put Iron Man, he’ll still be a bit of a liability, but you need to be able to use his assist otherwise there’s not much point in having him on a team.

Ggs vizard. This is the first time ever I had a IM mirror, and your IM is most definitely better than mine, you have better confirms and movement than me and you wasn’t lying when you said you can do KK consistently online. It is only the drones assist that is keeping me in the game. I think you can do more air Uni-beam though, it can be annoying for some characters to deal with.

And you told me you want to do more random confirms with air to air h, why don’t you try this combo I came up with. It is safe and can be auto piloted like KK.

Jump height:

j.h xx fly, j.m, j.h xx unfly, falling h, land and jump forward quickly with j.m, j.m, j.d/h, delayed s to drag them down closer to the ground, land and c.m into launcher combo ender

Super jump height:

j.h xx fly, j.m, j.d/h xx ADDF j.d/h xx unfly, falling h, land and jump forward quickly with j.m, j.m, j.d/h, delayed s to drag them down closer to the ground, land and c.m into launcher combo ender

Thanks for the tip of how to fight Zero as well, he is a pain for my team. And also thanks for telling me that I can raw tag Dante in after Iron Avenger to continue the combo. I didn’t know that before.

honestly, to me you biggest issue is your reactions/confirm ability. You play pretty solid. It’s just that when you get a hit. you should be ready to kill with it!

and btw, I know HOW to do the combos from the random J.H’s… it’s just actually getting that first H to connect. lol.

vs Zero I literally have to be perfectly spaced to get the combo (i’ve done it… ONCE! so it DOES work).
Does any character (other than Sentinel) have more range than IM’s j.H?

can someone link me to those vids of IM Air to Air conversion combos? i can generally get a combo from same height hits. easy.
but it’s a lot harder when the first hit is a u+h. and your jumping momentum is gone (i usually go for j.u.H rising j.S xx fly -> combo

and if they are below me, i don’t really know what to do…

@UntitledScrub… I’m all up for matches We’re EU, I make no promises about landing KK combos with connections outside of europe =P.

P.S. @Vian, I picked Morrigan up, because she seems to do what IM is supposed to do, with less range and a better Airdash.

Yeah my reaction sucks and I don’t know if you noticed, I can’t block. I had to agree with this as well, your Morrigan was pretty good, certainly harder to deal with than IM. Soul Fist seems to control space better than IM in general. BTW have you considered play Morrigan with IM instead of Magneto, obviously Magneto is miles better than IM on point, but I think IM’s assist can help you control space better, and you have the one frame DHC to kill if you feel you need to chip or frustrated the other guy enough with Soul Fist catch them doing something.

If you hit them with d/h and you haven’t used your air dash already you can use d/h OS ADD into a combo and it should be something like this from super jump height:

j.d/h xx ADD j.d/h xx fly, j.m, j.h xx unfly, falling j.h, land c,m into finisher

You may not need to do the fly and unfly part depending on the height. From normal jump height, you can just do c.m into ender.

I want SB to go back to MVC2, where it is slower, bigger, easy command and have different angle for each version.

true that IM assist helps her control space better, but Magneto DHC’s are generally better for getting the opponent full screen/pushing Zero out/away, clearing the screen. That new team was made pretty much because I’m sick and tired of dealing with Zero’s BS. lol. It’s also fun to learn new chars, next chars I’m looking at are She-Hulk and Taskmaster. (I love grapplers, plus Taskmaster > Hawkeye preference)
