its not even really the dash that gets me its the “hey guys look im firing up my jetboots and im going to dash …now” thing that happens when you do it

The problem with trying to plug cr.H in a combo is that you have to hit near point blank with cr.M>st.H to land it.

Seriously, fuck this new dash, it’s not just different rushdown, it pretty much prevents it all together, especially since his ground dash also got nerfed.
It doesn’t help that Nova exists, and Vergil’s Rapid Slash is a good Unibeam substitute.
I dunno, it felt to me like as long as you land the st.:h:, the missile will always connect.

Cool, I figured he’d have some kind of Rom type combo with the super fast up and down air dashes. You could mash the super more to get more hits.
I did mash the supers but I don’t know how hard I was mashing. People were sleeping so I was trying to be careful haha.

You know you can go straight into launcher after L smart bomb with level 3 x factor? I didn’t lol, but yeah he’s definitely a WAAAAY better anchor now. Box air dash S into Fly B? What it combos in level 3? Yes, yes it does.

and just found some new movement tech. IM can now super jump and ADDF at MAX SUPERJUMP HEIGHT and mixup between land c.L or air h or s.
it may not seem good on paper but just try out the pattern in t mode. also superjump addf s is high priority and lets IM get in from all the way across the screen in one movement. plus the addf is pretty fast as far as what is on the screen.
ALSO NOTE:
im can superjump L smartbomb at max height then follow the smartbombs in with an impossible to react block high S or land c.L
IM is SOOO buff now… hes actually kinda derp in his movement… its that good.

in general:
i think i was wrong about IM being like a sim… i mean he can be played that way but im finding some other really good stuff with him. so i was thinking, “why was he so bad in vanilla?”
so far what im seeing is that maybe capcom was scared of him being op cause in that game he is the only character with a quick non apex height tridash over head as well as a non apex tridash c.L WHILE ALSO having some of the games best normals… he DOES have some of the games best normals in vanilla… but unfortunately they all are really spacing/yomi/ badly angled. i think that was capcoms way of balancing him… they thought "hes a tridasher with crazy normals lets nerf his jump arc so that his jump h only hits a good angle on the way down and therefor isnt spammable"
they also saw how good his boxjumps could be if they didnt travel far/ werent momentum based so they nerfed them by making them momentum based… like other characters.
then when vanilla was released they realized there mistake and decided to go ahead and give him back those things but to take away his ADDF M. pretty much EVERYTHING ELSE about the character is the same or buffed. only trijump range has been decreased.
BUT, trijump range HASNT been decreased… in fact its gotten a helluva lot more range. its just that it no longer has range AND speed at a shorter distance.
to me, thats the only nerf he got, so imho we just need to get used to his most obvious offensive tool getting axed in favor of other just as obvious once you see them, offensive tools.
well, thats my take for now. im having ever changing thoughts on him, but none of them are about him being bad. im just trying to find out where hes BEST. its obvious to me that hes definitely better than his vanilla counterpart, but whether or not that equals him being better against the new and old cast that has also had facelifts remains to be seen.

Yep, I was working with that some last night, I figured yea the startup is significantly slower…but the dash speed itself is pretty freakin fast (faster I think) so it should work.
I really did like the previous version of him a lot, but each day so far I find another reason this one is just plain better.

So, today I played nothing but Iron Man, and my opinions on him have changed dramatically. A few things clicked today:
-The minimum airdash height is stupid low, combined with IMs normals this was great for pushing people into the corner or getting in.
-Got the new Krispy Kream down, now that you can confirm it from almost max range 2B, this is insane abare.
-Started exploiting all the new hitboxes
-Bigger jC’s
-Bigger 5B
-Bigger 5C
-Bigger 2B (OMG!!!)
-Crossup jS setups. Seriously, the new hitbox on this fucker is a godsend.
-And the big one. I discovered IM can tri-jump down (instant ADD) into a jA. This is easily the fastest tri-jump in the whole game. It even makes Nova’s instaADD jL look slow.
I’m starting to thin IM might be really good, but still not quite got tier potential. Nova and him are two sides of the same coin. Nova has the resets (his reset game is very good) and IM has the zoning (guns and normals).
On another note, watch your timing on OTG H Smart Bombs xx Proton Gun. It is possible to do it to fast (with high HSD) and then the final bomb will hit after the proton burst causing a tech out.
Lastly, it is really fucking hard to mash out max damage on Iron Avenger. I could only get get 450k of the max 460k without using turbo (using the slide mash technique).
In order to max out mashing damage, start mashing before the super actually gets its first hit. You want to start mashing during the super flash. I’m able to get max hits on hyper charging star and proton cannon because of that.
I’m not too sure about he dynamics of Iron Avenger since tapping during the super flash would be exhausting since the super itself lasts 45 seconds lol.
I can do it fine on every other super I tried Iron Avenger is just unusually hard. Seriously, its ridiculously, super, mega hard, just try it yourself.
And yeah… after playing IM all day, my hands are exhausted.
