Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 (UMK3)

I…don’t…know…what’s happening to me.

Its like I know the thread title says UMK3…but reading this thread makes me want to play Killer Instinct badly for some reason.

I’m sorry, Tim!

i dunno, i’d have to disagree. a lot of my lil cousins love the new mortal kombats (yes the 3d ones)–just not as a competitive game, rather a casual fun game. i’d say that the mk hate more comes from the og crowd who’s turned bitter because of how crappy mk franchise has become after umk3 and so moved onto better things.

A lot of clueless reviewers out there slam the MK franchise as a whole and never give it props for what it once was. Always insinuating that it’s never been good. Newbs just follow their word and repeat it without ever trying the 2D MK’s themselves. And when the rare praise gets through, it always goes to MK2.

There’s a pattern with fighting game reviews and it goes like this always:

VF, SC, and SF (Capcom fighters in general) will always get near perfect scores.
Tekken will always get slammed.
MK will always get laughed at (not that I disagree past UMK3).

There’s a lot of meme going on with reviews.

Finally a page one UMK3 thread! I know H.Smoke pretty well so if anyone has questions post it up!

I really don’t like any MK games except UMK3 and MKT.

lol no biggie. i love KI too but as much as I love it and miss it, playing it will quickly remind you how bad the game really is lol. But i feel you. I still love KI

If it was MK on a cab, then i “enjoy” them. MK4 is still the most un-MK MK game out of that bunch but its still fun to play (for a short time).

reading this thread has made me want to try out this game… I like nightwolf…

what is the normal button layout for a stick in this game?

To translate from SF, Jab = HP, Fierce = HK, Short = LP, Roundhouse = LK, then remove Forward, drop Strong in between where Strong and Forward were, and that is Block, then move Strong down and to the left of Short/LP and you have Run.

Ahh seeing the UMK3 cab brings back memories. I even had one in my garage at one point

Anyone still play this for the DS? I really wanna get a couple of matches going. Reply for my FC!

now that is awesome right there. Looks like the one i have…

:coffee:

Does it really!?

I still play every once in awhile.

I played UMK3 at Binghamton University, however, I just could not adjust to the control scheme. I was glad I got UMK for the DS, being able to play an almost perfect port of UMK3 is great (after what I experienced with the PS2 port). The only thing I know that is different about the DS port is that the speed was changed to MKT like (which from what I understand is good).

I believe the Waterfront and Graveyard stages have slow down on the DS. I could be wrong, it’s been a while.

Any stage with background animations are choppy. not to mention anytime you use any Smoke too.

Ah yes, I do remember that. Also for anytime when you uppercut someone to send to the next part of the level, there is a small pause. It is not too huge from what I remember.

How do you move immediately after doing an uppercut? I see it in vids bus I can’t seem to do it myself

Went to 8 on the Break tonight, was saddened to discover the owner has rented his UMK3 machine to a Burger King in Clifton, NJ. About half a dozen players there for SSF4 who also wanted some UMK3 matches. I think UMK3 should be rented in various locations across the country. There needs to be one for every 100 square miles.

Whenever your playing the DS version online, just goto the lost stage 060-060 and you won’t experience as much lag. And it sucks to hear that Shock.
