ULTIMATE Marvel vs. Capcom 3 - OFFICIAL

I don’t like the change. the older MVC’s while not being 6 button layout DOES have set kick and punch buttons. It’s the only change keeping me from enjoying the game… might not be a big deal to the rest of the world… but to me it’s a damning change.

Change with the times. Jjba had the same setup, sengoku basara x, and tvc.

It is not hard getting used to, unless you are an ignoramous

Is there any indication yet of whether or not DP has different/more noticeably different colors? I remember that being a big deal for awhile, I wonder if they’ve made the adjustment

Never played those games or TVC as I don’t own a wii. :c But SF X TK has the 6 button layout. I just like that layout, it was perfect to me. The “everything is attack” with no set punch or kick is highly depressing.

Oh. Well I guess it comes down to experience. I have played a ton of games without assigned punch or kick buttons, doesn’t degrade the quality of any of those games (it’s usually the game engines themselves that suck, not the layout).

Yeah, they made it so no one will want pick Phoenix.

:sunglasses:

There is only one thing that pisses me off about MvC3’s button layout… it results in tons of homogenized and ridiculously unintuitive motions. Why is Tron’s drill a RDP motion when it’s a melee attack that charges forward? Same goes for Spidey’s Web Swing… why this move was a also a RDP makes no sense to me on an intuitive level. I’m also pretty sure Felicia players would love to see Sand Splash not be a charge move… which happened as a direct result of going from punches/kicks to the TvC layout. Because of the button layout, new moves added in UMvC3 are very likely going to be RDP motions due to the fact that many characters don’t have the RDP motion filled already for a special, or some other obscure motion like down/down + Atk, Atk + S, or a charge motion.

That being said, one thing I do like about MvC3’s button layout is the ability to do mediums outside of a combo. This was the biggest problem I had with MvC2’s button layout, because characters that had good mediums were royally screwed… such as Ryu and BB Hood. Hell, imagine how much more beastly Blackheart would be in MvC2 if he could use his jumping strong outside of combos.

I feel like floe came at Strider with new eyes while clock had old habits thinking that strider w/o orbs = trash. Clock will have the best strider much like he has the best doom but maybe not at first (not to take anything fro floe cause that dudes god like). When he picked Strider, Doom, Sent on stream I was a bit hyped… made me think bout clockwork vs neo…

You guys got footage of Floe’s strider though?

Nope, alternate costumes still won’t get alternate color schemes.
From what I’ve heard it’s because Marvel is very controlling over their characters and how they look.

I did not understand changing webswing from tatsu to rdp.

Rdp is so picky in this game to just bang out in the combo

Personally, I thought that Sand Splash should have just been QCF + S. Yeah, it’d mean there’s only one strength available, but who the hell uses the Weak or Medium versions of it anyway? Strong version is the only one that matters.

There’s plenty of other ways they could have made Sand Splash a viable move. Half Circle Forward + Attack, for instance. Also, as I mentioned before, they could have kept it a charge move, but make it come out whether you held back or just tapped it - just make it where a legitimately charged version had some sort of advantage (better projectile durability, invincibility frames, etc.) As it stands, giving a rushdown character a charge move means that the move may as well not be there… and considering Felicia didn’t have Sand Splash in Vampire Savior, perhaps it only makes her more accurate.

More pics, Dr Doom in Silver/Blue!

Nah I was talking about the ridiculous hitbox.

So hype for UMVC3. The more I think about it, the more I like the new chars. Hype for Hawkeye, Ghost Rider, Nemesis… I’ll let the other characters surprise me. I just hope Rocket Raccoon turns out to be a viable character instead of a gimmick and that they don’t make Virgil as broken as Dante is.

Other than that my only gripes so far seem to be that Magneto still looks retarded good and that I’d personally like to see lower damage output. Just came from watching clock vs neo. Watching chars just go back and forth and trading hits… so much more epic than “oops it was impossible for me to see what happened there, haha that’s a dead character off a chainable 4 frame cr. L”.

Oh… and I REALLY don’t like how they are putting more emphasis on TACs. So scrub friendly, my gahd.

Oh, I have no idea about that lol. I haven’t heard anything, but I’m curious myself now.

And for some reason, I’m starting to get hyped for using Hsien-Ko and Nemesis on the same team. I have no idea why. And we haven’t even seen the big guy in-game yet.

Flow’s Strider wasn’t all that (no offense to floe). He’s pretty much what Marn was with Dante when that game was in it’s early builds. He’s doing abc over and over backed by strong fundementals. It’s understand, seeing as how the game is brand spanking new and no one knows that character yet. Clockwork was trying to explore that character more. When I get back home, I’ll post some footage of Floe’s Strider.

Nothing on Thor still =/

Best summary of all the current known changes so far.

I’ve a feeling I provided that avatar earlier…

Hmm I don’t remember, could very well be that I got it from one of your posts in the UMVC3 speculation thread. I know that this image has been floating around the webz for a long time now and it still makes me laugh.

Plus it was the only image I had saved on the computer I’m working on right now
