Well, Capcom would obviously want the same Venom they used in MvC 1 and 2. And I hear that the Venom currently in the comics is not Eddie Brock, so… Marvel may not want that inconsistency?

I’ve learned when it comes to comics, there’s also a never-ending storm of legal wrangling over brand and character rights brewing behind decisions to use certain characters in certain media.

It really does. I just wonder what the future holds for Marvel’s cosmic stuff, as they clearly wanted that pushed as well. If somebody made an Annihilation movie I’d lose my mind, even if it was just animated and put on DVD.

Also this MIGHT mean that they won’t use GGPO in their upcoming games, if they really made a succesfull good netcode that can handle MVC3/2.5/3d games. MVC3 also requires more than SSF4 does so they won’t need a new one maybe,
@kr3: Yea I hope so. Although Megaman is pretty much their biggest franchise, so its weird they would not put such a Key character in the game but would go for the more random/newer ones. but eh its fine.
At least Gene got close. I’m honestly amazed he made it that far considering his obscurity. Maybe some day the God Hand will return. It’s times like these I want to strangle one of those entitled little megaman shits. They could build a small house out of all Megaman’s games. I have been playing God Hand every couple of months since it came out, I never once complained about a lack of sequels.
Not expecting anything substantially better than MvC3 vanilla with spectator mode. Perhaps bring the playability to AE levels.

That’s disappointing about Gene (I love God Hand) but I believe in Capcom’s decision making (so much variety and flavor in MvC3) so it must have been for the best in the end.

It didn’t sound too promising when Sven was asked about DLC for UMvC3. He strongly steered the question away from fighters and towards non-fighter DLCs.
This is just speculation, but I figure Capcom’s going to take a “wait and see” approach to adding anything further to the game. I think at worst, we get no new fighters, and at best we get another add-on like AE that can be either downloaded or bought on a new disc. It will probably all rest on the sales of Ultimate.

Pretty much this. My thoughts are that Shuma & Jill didn’t sell too well and looking towards SSF4 and the success it had, Capcom.jp told Nitsuma to get on #datmahvuru. Then depending on the userbase still playing they can determine whether it’s profitable to release an ‘AE’ of sorts.
Putting massive changes in the engine was probably best left for a new disc anyway. The flak the original got by casuals and enthusiasts alike was probably a cherry on top as a reason to fix their mistakes into a new release.
I love the ignorance of some people. They don’t realize that 1) Marvel has final say on its roster, and 2) affirmative action is just as bigoted as excluding people for being a certain way. shakes head Anyone with half a brain (which is clearly us) would come to the realization this isn’t an after-school special where some executive goes down a checklist… “White male with brown hair, check. White female with red hair, check. Athletic black male, check. Latin female in a wheelchair, check…”
well earlier with a interview wit Niitsuma, snow popped the question to Seth, something along the lines of “what about the requested characters how come they didnt get in the cut” and Niitsuma said something like “Due to MvC3 success we decided to advance to UMvC3 if that shows positive response from the fans, then just MAYBE in the future we might consider looking back on the fan requests we had for UMvC3”
