They might be back peddling on that idea though, I mean look at Phoenix as she currently is in Ultimate. And apparently the same idea was why AE was less balanced than Super, and they’re making a new balance patch to apparently fix that next year.
Recently Capcom has been trying to weed out ‘bad’ or ‘joke’ characters from their rosters. Back in the day, they did purposefully make characters like Dan or Servbot because it was funny. Now I think they realise that people get attatched to certain characters and want to be able to win with everyone in the cast.
Dan got some new tricks in SF4 and some people even claim he’s not so bad now.
Pretty much niitsuma said he likes having characters that are “obvious” top tier (not sure if he said the opposite is true as well). But it would seem everyone (at least customers) has slapped him in the face for it.
OFF TOPIC: If Cammy ever gets in MvC3…
[details=Spoiler]It better be Shadaloo Cammy and this BETTER be her theme
[/details]
Seriously. That’s her classic VS Marvel appareance. And SF2 theme wouldn’t make sense.
Eh, I hope so. I thought they might be going for the whole “It’s Mahvel, so it doesn’t have to make sense and be balanced” thing, but I’ll put a little faith in Capcom. Really, it’s not like she even needs a whole lot to at least be decent. I can guarantee that she won’t be Wolvie levels of good.
Considering the buffs Captain America is getting…
Yeah, Cap is going to be the new Wesker minus teleport but with double jump.
People tend to forget Captain America IS SUPER HUMAN.
In the game (and even in the comics lately) he is just the american symbol with a awesome shield throwing skill. At least in the movie they remembered he was super human.
He certainly deserves his buffs.
I’m gonna rock Cap if those buffs are good enough. He was my favorite before the game was released, but I really couldn’t get all that into him. Hopefully the buffs will change that.
It’s because these players with that new gen player attitude don’t get that’s how fighting games use to be made.
The devs would make a character better than the rest intentionally but players would have to figure out how and what makes this character so strong and even then, they couldn’t factor in the player’s ingenuity. Sagat and Ryu were made strong in SF4 but I don’t think Capcom figured that Akuma would end up with a Sagat only loop or that Dhalsim would step toe to toe with Sagat in National Finals and win.
The problem is this group of people don’t want to pick the best characters but whine that their character is inferior to the top tier so give them something to win easier so they can keep playing that character. They are pretty much contradictions.
I don’t really sympathize with people playing weak characters because we all have the same choice at the character select screen. You want to play that character and they just so happen to be weak, you either step to the challenge Capcom put before you and make that shit work or switch characters. Crying until a patch comes isn’t helping you (well it didn’t in the past).
There are good characters and bad characters and in between. Some people like the challenge from playing bad/unpopular characters, others like to be character specialist and make that character work in every situation, and you have people who play the characters who they feel give them the highest chance of success. For some reason, the new attitude is a combination of all 3. They want to be dedicated to unpopular/bad character/s and have high success through the character, not their own effort.
He’s moving up, that’s for sure. He can already hit confirm for 480k-500k damage combos and with a OTG assist that is 720k-730k~ off Hyper Charging Star.
Him being faster, and getting double jump only makes him vastly better!
Also, his L shield slash OTGs now.
Don’t choose ‘low tier’ if you aren’t confident enough in your skill to make it work. That is all people need to accept. It has been proven time and time again that tiers don’t matter, player skill does and this is very, very true MOST of the time.
I just creamed my pants. I can take Wesker out of my group now and replace him with a character I enjoy playing more instead of needing him for maximum damage for Cap.
That was another reason I didn’t want to use Cap, you pretty much needed Wesker. I mean I don’t hate all of the top tiers, but I’m not a big Wesker guy, so that’s good news already!
Did I just imagine the part about shield slash working in the corner too?
He also has that one thing that let’s him see psyche locks. They might use that. Maybe even give him a way to break psyche locks, making his attacks more effective on the opponent?
I’m OK with devs making some characters intentionally stronger than others, but Jesus at least try to make them not so noob-friendly. I want more GG AC Eddies and MVC2 Mags and less Wolverines.
Apparently C. Viper is really good, but good luck learning to play her.
Crimson Viper is fun, though oh man. I always have a blast playing her in training mode with infinite Hyper Meter.
Actual fights? Haha…HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAo
I am just confused, how is having a huge, varied, balanced cast a bad thing? It isn’t this younger gen’s thinking, it should be most peoples thinking. I don’t know about you but I hate playing online only to fight the same team over and over. Creating bad characters are on purpose is just stupid, and a waste of time and resources. If you aren’t going to put effort into them DON’T PUT THEM IN THE GAME. Creating god tier characters is also stupid. I want all characters viable, and why wouldn’t you? More viable characters means more challenge, and more tools to work with. Why anyone wants to keep just 5 characters to play and grow with confuses me.
It is a bad business model, and not everyone likes playing the elite characters in a game. Whether you like or not, a lot of people hated that only “x” characters in MvC2 were truely viable. And also, look at how people are viewing Viscant’s win… this line of thinking creates god characters that an infant can use.
edit: not hating on viscant’s win, mostly just used that as an example.
Grats Viscant
