You’re going to give us 6 new marvel characters, and not one of them will be female?
Ms. Marvel should’ve been in this Day 1. No question. Considering how I was hyped at the idea of getting Jubilee (until Lupinko said we were off), Ms. Marvel, and others makes this even worse.
Fuck you Capcom, for once again ignoring the relevant women in the MU.
I wiki’d Rocket Raccoon. I knew of him before, though. He’s funny, but his inclusion is comparable to Longshot hypothetically being added to the roster instead of Thor.
Character promotion is exactly what’s wrong with MvC3, in my opinion. It’s such a blatantly obvious promotional tool, that it comes across as being painfully out of touch with the broader fanbase. I’m glad the super-hardcore comics fans are satisfied (although I’ve seen a fair amount of whining from them too). Too bad they make up maybe 20% of the overall Marvel fanbase. Yeah. They’re the minority. Hopefully Marvel sells a couple extra copies of their comics because Rocket Raccoon made it into MvC3. I know I’m twice as psyched to see the Avengers movie (lie) because Hawkeye made it in (Hawkeye’s my favorite Avenger).
Despite all my whining, though, I’m still willing to give new characters a shot, and I think most of us whiners are too. I won’t be completely content until I have Gambit back, but it’s not going to stop me from continuing to play Taskmaster, or trying out some of the new characters in UMvC3. It just won’t be with the same enthusiasm, and I see nothing strange about that.
I was originally so ready to hate any list lacking Venom, Psylocke, and Thanos after getting my hopes up. Honestly, though, once it sank in I loved it. As I mentioned in my original post in this topic, I did not expect most of the ones who got in to be here, but I’m happy now that they are. As I said elsewhere: **sometimes the gift you didn’t ask for is better than the one you did. **I love what I’ve had thrown at me with this update. We’ve still yet to see how they all play, but I’m willing to give every character the benefit of the doubt for now. Nova is a total bad-ass, but it would have been nice to get Ronan or Annihilus to compliment him. Maybe they’ll be in his ending sequence? Maybe Ronan will be a summoned attack? Who knows?! excited
It’s hilarious. All I could think about of KoFXIII for the past month or two, and I just now realized I’d forgotten all about it and its hype train. It is going to be a strain for me to start saying “Firebrand” as well. I’ve been saying Red Arremer for years.
I think it’s the fanbase that’s out of touch with Marvel and what they’ve been doing lately. MvC3 is them saying “we’re more than just X-Men, Spider-Man and the characters we’ve made movies about”. I know a lot of people for better or worse had their interest piqued and went to find who these seemingly “random” choices are. Brand awareness ftw.
I am totally stoked that 11 characters are brand new. I am so anxious to see the tiniest bit of gameplay, my mind is running wild wondering their moves and the way they’ll play. I’m absolutely in love with MvC3 now and makes me wish more fighting games went with majority new characters more often (Love SF3).
I would be worried about them butchering the stronger characters of MvC3 to uselessness in UMvC3 but shit man, I don’t think I’ll be using the returning cast for a while. Too busy messing around with the 12 additions.
I don’t care if it hasn’t been a year, $40 for this is a steal. If the game is fun, I’ll have months to years of enjoying it. $40 for that is a steal.
T_T
I was hoping for Rocket in this game…thanks Capcom <3
Really like the characters added, but would’ve liked if this was also DLC.
Oh well won’t trade in my Vanilla MvC3, but do you guys think MvC3 will still be played?
I’m gonna keep my copy of MvC3 though. I liked playing it since I got it~
Rocket doesn’t give me a boner. None of these new additions do (okay except Ghost Rider). Thus Felicia is better.
Anyways when I first saw all the leaked characters I laughed out loud then I just shook my head in disappointment. I don’t feel anything for this shit anymore. I wish I did.
To all the Nova/Iron Fist fans, good for you, I hope you like them. Rest assured that you beat out all percieved odds.
Hey guys, I finally managed to get back into SRK. Site has been going crazy.
I wan to say I love all of you and that I never thought Vergil would actually get in.
Now, about the actual game, I am super hyped, but at the same time, I’m a bit worried that they slowed down Mags’ :df: air dash, which may, or may not mean he’ll lose some of his combos. We’ll see. If he does, I’ll be pretty pissed… Attraction,Repulsion and the other move are sweeet. Getting Tager up in this bitch.
this. I’ll be super pissed if it means he can’t do some of his loops anymore. also who else is bummed that Strider’s ouroboros is a level 3 now? :\ god I miss whiffing normals to build meter even more. probably means people are gonna have to play him in second. Mag/Strider/Doom. new team. LET’S GO!
I wouldn’t go that far. What I will say though, is that it looks to me like Capcom is fully aware of who the fans have been asking for the most, and that they intentionally left some of the big ones like Mega Man X, Gene, and Captain Commando out because they are saving them for the inevitable “Arcade Edition.” A third edition of MVC3 is coming, make no mistake. UMVC3 may as well be called “UMVC3: Public Beta Edition,” but for some reason tons of people are in a mad rush to give Capcom their life savings for it even though it’s going to be obsolete in a year. I’m going to do the sensible thing and hold onto my money until it looks like Capcom has finally run out of adjectives to attach to MVC3’s title.
As for Marvel’s side of things, Capcom has no control over who Marvel wants in the game, and so we are pretty much SOL if we want anyone from Marvel’s side who they are not making a publicity push for. Marvel is not pushing characters like Gambit, Psylocke and Cable right now so sadly that means we probably won’t see them in a future version of the game, but Hawkeye is in the Avengers movie so Marvel is obviously going to shove him into the foreground. It sucks for fans of the games, but Marvel is a comics company and their evaluation process is completely different than Capcom’s. Capcom’s is mostly money driven though, which is why they have strategically left out highly requested fan favorites that would have been there from day one if they were going by a more customer-friendly business model.
