ULTIMATE Marvel vs. Capcom 3 - OFFICIAL

u rite!

actually pretty interested in seeing what RR’s like even though this is the first time I’ve honestly ever heard of him. don’t judge. lol.

Right, which is why I’m certain RR is going to evoke shades of Cable. Don’t be surprised if RR has a jumping fierce projectile and/or an AHVB-esque super.

Remember, this is the same Seth that said Iron Fist and Ghost Rider couldn’t make it in the game because they were “punchy characters”. So much for that reason.

I really hope zoning becomes good and stays good in UMVC3. I liked in SSFIV when there was an actual fight for the rushdown based characters to get in on the lamer characters cuz that’s what I’m used to playing pretty much any other SF game. It’s gonna be stupid if Ultimate MVC3: AE comes out and they listen to scrubs whining about not being able to get in on Chris and Deadpool and then we’re back to rushdowns not having to work to get in again. By that time I’ll just be playing 3S I guess.

As long as they dont buff zoning too much and rushdown characters get shut down, nothings more boring to watch than two zoning characters trying to chip each other to death.

Well that was a lot of MVC2 but I think what made that game interesting was the fight to get around it. When there’s no fight to get around zoning it’s just characters mashing buttons at each other and not having to worry about how they space anything like it is now. No need to worry about Chris zoning on the ground. Just keep jumping forward while mashing assists and specials and you’ll eventually get in with Wolverine or She Hulk. With systems like XF which makes you faster and stronger and your mix ups harder to read they’ll get in eventually. It’s not like most zoning based characters can hit confirm into death combos from that range any way.

One of the only zone based characters that can hit confirm from near full screen into combos is Captain America and he’s more of an anti zoner any ways (character that can zone and get shit off of him but has a lot of moves that tear through zoning).

If you’re worried about how boring 2 lame out characters is to watch you probably need to play the game more than watch it any way.

I will be very honest. The roster kicks ass… but the roster will kick more ass if Gene and Megaman went in over Phoenix Wright and Frank West.

Phoenix Wright can easily be like captain commando

Objection=captain fire
Random throwing the book at the opponent=captain kick
Different character cameo moves=coffee spit anti air from visor guy, whip throw like whip from von karma, private investigator magnum bullets=baby missles baboom
He can have an awareness counter like joe in tvc:uas
Then an anti air captain corridor move where he stomps and yells like daigo from rival schools

Blam pw becomes a zoning character with an awesome aaa

I think to make zoning good again, the game needs AAAs like psylocke or capcom assist to get those magnetos and wolverines off your lame character. haggar or tron assist aren’t true AAAs and those are better utilized by rushdown characters like dante or zero. partly what made thrax in mvc2 so good was because of that capcom assist. storm and sent could play lame all day if they wanted to.

Those are one way or give them plenty of options and make it where there projectiles aren’t beaten by the rushers projectiles and they don’t take forever to come out.

Deadpool and Chris are two examples, Pool’s smg have no priority or hitpoints and Chris’s take too long to start.

Off topic but if they do plan on doing dlc they’re definitely thinking of chars to add. With that said I could see them bringing back Cable if RR doesn’t play exactly like him. I know he’s “dead” but iIRC they’re bringing him back soonish. Anyway I just love Cable from MvC2 to the comics he’s such a thug. Cable and Deadpool his solo run messiah complex he was awesome.

I just can’t see marvel passing up a chance to eunite the C&DP duo.

Also for everyone not hype for iron fist you need to read “the immortal iron fist” and I’m pretty damn sure you’ll change your mind about Danny Rand. Dude has Tony stark swag. I was so sad they discontinued his series bc it was great. Which doesn’t surprise me since cable and iron fist were written by the same guy (the last half of iron fist at least).

I’m excited for frank west too. Just watching tvc vids of him got me pretty hype. Was he good in that game?

While I agree partly with this, I think it would probably create more issues than it solves, considering just how effective psylocke was when paired with magneto’s rushdown. I think they just gotta find a way to make zoning work in the marvel system. I honestly think the main problems with zoning is that fact that 1. Its hard for most zoning characters to get a lot of damage of their projectile, the only one who can get something substantial of his shots is chris, all(lets go with most) need meter to do any substantial damage from full range and 2. A lot of zoning characters get outzoned by rushdown characters(mainly magneto and wesker but you get the point). If they deal with these 2 issues I think it would work out.

Please share your opinion on my opinion.

true. I think capcom’s on the right track by nerfing magneto’s EM disruptor, which would be a start for the “rushdown chars having better keepaway” issue. wesker’s gun being a good projectile… I can’t say for sure about that honestly, because as a wesker player myself I think what makes it so good is that he can cancel it into teleports and perform it in the air as well. with doom I think it would be a good idea to buff his photon array super. besides controlling space it’s not good for much, so it should at least be confirmable off a plasma beam with better damage. AAAs I think are still the way to go. do note though that in MvC2 there was less cooldown time for calling assists. capcom can easily tweak it so that you have to wait more to call out your AAA again.

On a personal level I’m glad there aren’t many keepaway options in MvC3.

I just don’t like the zoning game. Feels lame.

For AAAs just give them some recovery and we are very well on the way of better game for zoning.

I really want RR to play at least somewhat like Cable but not completely. Although I do want Cable’s Hp, j.Hp, elec-grenades, and spear uppercut.

Okay, just give me Cable back. :frowning:

Question: Since I hear Ryu’s hadouken is different now (going different ranges depending on the strength of the button you use to do the move), which hadouken is used for his hadouken assist?

The lack of meter zoning type characters can build is another reason. The only way you can really amount any of sort of a lame out is to have akuma or storm backed by morrigan so they can build meter. The lack of whiffing based meter build means they’re going to really have to make sure lame out characters can really lame out hard. I mean Magneto actually does a decent job laming out when he needs to with a good assist because well…he has a 7 fucking frame start up beam. Why does Chris’s guns start up so slow that you can see him point the gun and then jump away from the gun? LOL.

yeah this is true. maybe they could increase the meter build for characters’ projectiles on block or hit? I know doom gets like 1/4 bar from plasma beam on hit, but what about the others?

I’d say let specials build meter regardless of hit/block much like the SF4 series, but not too much though.

Really hoping Phoenix Wright is a great anchor to fit his whole ‘turnabout’ motif. Hope he’s top tier and sees full time tournament use.
