Not really.
Acid Rain will hit regardless of where the pop shredder connects. The only situation on which you want to hit them on the tip of the sword is when you want to add 2 Acid Rain repetitions, that however messes up the HSD pretty badly, so its always better to just use 1 IMO.

Keep in mind that you need to buffer the motion. That means that you need to perform the :qcf::uf: motion before the pop shredder ends. This makes it very easy, because it makes you realize that you have a really long time to perform the input without any mistakes. Once you do that, just mash that :l: .

Anyone have any interesting uses for Vajra assist? One cool thing I’ve found so far is

This kind of combo is better suited for a reset since there are better ways to convert into more damage, and this combo front loads the meter build with the acid rains. This is also a setup for my Viper/Dante/Strider team so after Grapple they’re going to eat an unblockable with BK. Daaaaante. Swag.

I hate the way Dante has lost most of his swag. His best combos are actually the simple ones and the ones that break 800k with one assist… I need to retrain myself to lose the swag and go for damage tbh

With the Swag combos (dash S~Acid Rain loop) you build around 1.8 bars a combo, the High Damage combos don’t build as much bar, its really just preferance though

Dante can still have swagg combos and deal damage at the same time, that all depends on your specific team synergy, assists you are using in accordance to your combos, and DHC capabilities.

Swag and damage is indeed possible. The spoils of my lab work today is this 805k Hammer combo that fulfills prior criterion. Wish I could record it, but anywho. Unfortunately also corner only, but fug it this combo looks sweet.

The trick to this combo is getting only the last hit of Rapid Slash to connect, because it launches them and causes the soft knockdown. While they’re being launched you do Million Carats so they bounce of the top off it so you can do it again. The first stinger can be omitted and you can go directly into Beehive if they’re falling too fast. Rest of the combo continues as normal.

Can someone make my combos more damaging?

I dunno, i’m happy enough doing 950k with DHCs considering all the combos are meter neutral. Really trying to find the sweet spot for a Dante team but having a bit of trouble. So tempting to go for those combo extender teams with Doom/Sent, but I feel a bit naked without EMD or Samurai Edge for grapple resets.

Right now i’m looking into something like Dante/Sent/Akuma, so I still get pretty combo extenders with Sent and the DHC is probably the best I can ask for, also the team DHCs nicely all the way through if I wanna burn 3 bars. I also like doing HSF>DT DHC and teleport to crossup. Also I feel like Tatsu would fix most of the problems I have with Dante ( AKA all my button presses are slow as fuck and I can’t press anything if anyones in my face ). Plus Sent is real nasty for Akuma.

For your combo though, I dunno, I kind of feel like Dante works best when you just gain a bunch of meter and blow it all on DHCs to get your kills. With Wesker/Spencer assists, you aren’t really allowing yourself to get much more damage/meter, and you don’t have the possibilities for a ton of ground bounce resets.

I mean I get over 900k with dhc from Dante to spencer and over 1.1mil from spencer to dante so its not really damage that I’m worried about I just want swaggier combos that still do more damage. But more damage is always great.

Well what I was saying is that I don’t think the tradeoff is damage vs swag, because swag=meter and meter=more damage.

Not with those assists, and not unless you wanna learn shot loops. At best all you can do is either add a TK Acid rain after prop shredder into Hammer and Cold shower>Stinger BC Sky Dance>Acid rain>Volcano JC j.S. Not that i’m an expert on Dante combos or anything, but he is pretty limited as far as damage extension.

Can you give me any tips on doing :m: j:h: air play j.:h:… After the second j:h: the standing :h::s: whiffs and occasionally I miss the second air :h:

No idea, i’ve never had a problem with that whiffing at all. All I can think of is after j.M, j.H, Air play, you need to delay the next j.H a little bit and try to hit them as low as you can.

If you want more damage in your combo you generally want to avoid doing acid rain and cold shower early in the combo. This corner combo shell does a butt load of damage since it’s like a street fighter combo where it just front loads the combo with Fierce to get damage before scaling turns to doodoo. Which is how you have to approach your Dante combos if you want damage, but then you do lose out on meter gain. I don’t know if something similar is possible mid-screen, but I’m trying to use shot loops there anyway to get the best of both worlds.

I use rapid slash so from there my combo goes Call Vergil :df: :h: :h: Skydance Reset, Beehive, Call Magneto :f: :h: BC Volcano xx Beehive, Million Dollars. It’s in the 780k ballpark iirc.

Edit: Ok, sooo. Dante does manly damage in the corner. I think this combo route might be Dante’s most optimal in terms of damage. It’s a variation of the above, and probably the best way in Ultimate to get da damage that I’ve seen. The most “difficult” part is the shoot loop. A third may be possible into stinger, but I haven’t tested it. That’s probably character specific too.

Hey guys. I’m working on a new combo that will do pretty good damage with vergil(rapid slash) and deadpool(quickwork) it goes something like this if you can follow:
j:s:/hammer, :df::h::h::s:, j:qcf::l::l:, :a2:(quickwork), :dp::m:xx:j:s:,:dp::m::m:, back dash :s:~:h::h::h: (call vergil) :h::h:, vergil hits and pushes them across the screen, :d::d::s:~j.:qcf::h: (last hit doesn’t wiff thus causing GB reset),:qcf::atk::atk:, DHC into swords, :qcb::l: (hold for trip),:dp::m:x2(now in corner),c:h:,:f:+:h:, release trip as they fall, c:h:,:qcf::l:,c:h:,:dp::m:,:df::h:, call jam session, :h: (trick down), super jump :d::h:,:df::h:, DS if you want

The problem I’m having with this combo is this: :dp::m::m:, back dash :s:~:h::h::h: (call vergil) :h::h:, vergil hits and pushes them across the screen, :d::d::s:~j.:qcf::h: (last hit doesn’t wiff thus causing GB reset)…more specifically the clay pidgin into call vergil then tele at just the right second in order to appear right where I need to be for the sky dance. I’m not sure if it’s timing or what but I would appreciate any help with making this combo happen.

Oh! And I know it’s possible because I’ve done it a couple times before.

Hits just over 780k. Simple, short and sweet but still looks good and deals quite a bit of damage.

Seems a bit wasteful for a -1 meter combo, I mean you essentially could have done the same combo and been meter+ or neutral with an extra DHC for way more damage. Part of the reason why i don’t really like using Devil Trigger unless I plan on using chip setups from Thunderbolt or I feel like I need to blast through some shenanigans with Vortex.
