ULTIMATE Balance/Tier talk thread

Hulk is sick… you can crush low-hitting moves with Gamma Charge H,H, get +5 on block, either do it again, go for command throw, or j. heavy, or j.l, lk, lk

Vergils normals are safe? What?

Look, vergils normals are so unsafe that if you block one you have time to hard tag another character, taunt, take a couple of seconds to think how to punish, and then punish. Or maybe im exaggerating.

Nevertheless hes pretty solid, good mix-up and combo potential, good hypers(not counting that useless Lv4), and DT mode is very good.

With a good team and his new BFF Dante is a god. Really, i think frank will A+ tier material and we will see a lot of them at tournaments.

Somebody got butt hurt Vergil obviously. Vergil is not god tier or anywhere ahead of the other 10+ characters on par with him. I think he’s at the lower end of the pack as far as top 10 goes. Hell, he wasn’t even in my top ten.

I think just that range and the overall mixups is what makes vergil so deadly. Dante has the same thing but he has more versatility and builds more meter. Idk i really dont think either is better then the other. But Ill say that spencer scares the crap out of me. That and I think Hawkeye is awesome too.

I think Dante is far better than Vergil. He has many more options. Spencer is in my top ten (I posted earlier). I think Hawkeye is severely underrated and second to Taskmaster in the arrows department.

My problem isn’t with him, it’s with how the game allows you to tech in different directions making it harder to predict shit. Obviously it’s not that bad in an actual match since most people hold back like idiots (made playing She-Hulk a lot easier), but it’s still annoying especially when you’re playing a character who gets all their damage from mixups and resets. Maybe in a month or so we’ll have some bullshit Wolverine-ish mixups or something.

Hawkeye is more popular than I originally imagined.

and so is dormammu…

I guess my Team of Strider/Hawk/Dorm isn’t so unique after all =[

Do you guys think hawkeye is a good anchor? imo, i think that with xf lvl3, hawkeye becomes one of the scariest characters in the game. his chip is pretty ridiculous, and his gimlet can punish almost anything. i’ve won a lot of matches today just because of that super.

Oh god yes, if you have 5 meters with Hawkeye, you are required to be afraid when he is in XF3, he can just super jump and spam gimlet to chip you out if nothing else, or he can just wait till you do anything and bam lose 500K. That and his slide, great normals, fast arrows and OTG solo and combo after forward and backward throws? Awesome

Hawkeye isn’t a good anchor. He is easy to block and unless your opponent has already used X-Factor you can’t chip them out. Believe it or not you can approach Hawkeye when he has Gimlet, as long as you aren’t being chipped out.

Yah i agree on the Frank west being A+ but i believe thats only if you power him up. I think without his levels he’s a solid middle tier possibly upper.

Well idk what im doing wrong against Vergil but if his attacks aren’t safe i guess i have to just try some more things. I mean ive only been playing for 3 days off and on.

I think Strider potential if reached can be deadly but sadly i think tourny players are more afraid of his health. I guess we will see. I would lol if Cl0ckwork used Strider & Doom again.

Yeah i agree his anchor abilities fall short. His keep away is strong and can get annoying facing them but i haven’t lost to one just experienced them. Hawkeye though is pretty rad once you actually combo. There so fancy

I think if we see Frank a lot in tourneys people will be using him as an assist tier character for his shopping cart, like J Wong does. On point when leveled up he’s essentially Haggar on steroids, but leveling him up isn’t a guaranteed task no matter how many lvl1-> lvl5 setups you make and neither is lvl 5 Frank a dark Phoenix, guys like Hawkeye still can zone him out for free. Because of that a strong case can be made that you might as well play Haggar who represents a lower but much more consistent reward than Frank on point.

Hmm I do agree with you hawkeye is easy to block, and an opponent having x factor does mitigate the chipping nonsense. However, couldnt you say the same thing about Akuma? Judging from what ive seen, his whole gameplan on point was to essentially zone, tatsu, and punish with his mad fast beam super, and he was considered one of the best anchors in Vanilla right?

have you seen Justin Wong’s Iron Fist? It was really good but with him he has no air game at all. I think he is still a good character and we might see a few in tournaments but the players who use him will have to put in some work. Well i use Nova and he actually is pretty safe if used correctly and with the right assists. I usually never lose my nova because idk he just works for me. I MAY JUST BE A FAN IN LOVE WITH HIS AIR DASH! lol

Akuma has two divekicks and an overhead. He also has a level 3 grab and a teleport.

Trish “can” be good, but you MUST be careful! She’s so bulky and vulnerable. Haven’t seen the player. Is there any vids?

Well i didnt really get butt hurt its just he’s a really well rounded character with so many possibilities. It probably was wrong of me to say he’s better than Dante because i now see what you guys are saying but i still think he’ll be possibly an overused character in tournaments, but that’s my assumption. I could be wrong.

Playing zoners as an anchor is generally not a good idea, they are extremely useful when you have almost won and you just need to chip away those magic pixels, but when you are down early and trying to make an EVO moment you don’t have the luxury to be spamming arrows, waiting for your opponent to make mistakes. You have to rush in, dive kick/Tatsu your way in, open people up with chop overheads etc. You also need to have a high damage output, something Hawkeye doesn’t have.

ahh, well that’s understandable. but not all off his resets suffer from that such as his corner sat reset shit. because if they tech forward they’ll just move forward making it easier for you to grab. and if they tech back, then they’ll just be in the corner for another mixup/blockstring from hiryu.

@ nori

these are just a few resets/mix ups that i use.

the basic is random blockstring>hawkeye triple arrow assist> teleport j.H

another one is blockstring>vergil rapid slash>wall cling ( it’s an cross up since your opponent focus on strider ). and from here you can do a few things depending on situations.

on hit you can just drop down, dash up ( if around mid screen ) and confirm into your BNB of choice while vergil just pass by slicing.

if blocked, you can just drop down and cr.l into teleport of choice for mix up.

jump M excalibur > rapid slash assist ( another dirty cross up since your opponent sight is on strider )

on hit just do jump M, J.H, LP excalibur, land M H S, j.mx2, jump cancel, j.h, j.s. from here depending where you are like if your in the corner you can just call and shoot sat and go for a grab reset into another sat> wall cling combo.

off full screen/mid screen H gram you can dash up>J.Mx2, lp excalibur, call assist THEN slide under for whatever or you can dash under and hitconfirm cr whatever. if they block the latter, just call assist for a safe teleport.

i heard he have a new reset off a slight variation of his 2xexcalibur bnb but i haven’t tried it yet.
