Ultimate Arm, Bionic Arm. UMvC3 Spencer Combo Thread

unsure if this is listed (didnt see it on the main page) but what would be the best anti-air combo, corner to corner/midscreen to corner…

say, starting from st A anti air, or jump bcs on an a reg jump height opponent
better to go for armor piercer?

edit: assistless of course.

i think you can go straight into gx loop off an anti-air.

:l: :m: :uf::atk::atk: j.:m: (into gx loop)

you can also go j.:h: j.:s: j:m: j:h: j:atk::atk: j.:s: (into gx loop… though the end is technically the first loop of the gx loop so you only have 2 more left)

Can someone give me a reliable combo off a forward air throw, from full screen? Also one from midscreen. Thanks.

Both of these come from the 1st page of this thread so check that out.

Don’t see a general thread so I’ll ask here: How does Spencer beat Pushblock?

I guess the same as other rushdown characters, just react to the pushblock with a dash. I assume you can end your block strings with a grounded forward zip too, pretty sure that’s punishable by grab though.

It’s very difficult for him to beat pushblock without an assist. In X-Factor, zip cancels are very good, but out of it, he doesn’t really have a way around it other than to keep his strings short and heavy on the high/low.

can someone link me to the video having spencer’s TAC options…i have his up and down TAC fine, but i cant figure out his side TAC in the corner…thanks

Have you guys discuss about the THC Spencer has? Something similiar to Doom/Ammy THC; Bionic arm and million dollars/happy happy trigger could make for some good mixups for spencer.

Spencer’s THCs are great and I love them.

I have had something in mind with his side TAC, but the timing is strict. After Spencer tags in from side TAC, he usually comes from the other side. As soon as Spencer tags in, Zip to the wall behind immediately, wait till you are a certain distance from the ground, then df zip, which will hit the opponent, land and do UVG, I have tried this around 20 times when I first came up with it, but only landed it 4 times :frowning:

Heres a video I made that includes Resets, Mixups, and some combos with my team. They mostly feature wesker mixups, but you should find the spencer TAC options helpful:

The next video I am going to be making will focus more on spencer’s combos and mixups.

Agreed, here’s a video I found that discussed what I think you Spencer players can explore on.

Whats his up and down tac options

wats up guys im working on spencers up grapple reset the thing is when i go to do and go for the command grab afterwards i always get punished? is it because they c it coming??? or am i doing somthing wrong??? or doing it to slow? i dont know how to practice this in the lab to land the grab. mabey timing issues?? if someone can give me insight much help thanks

They are probably just mashing every time you do an up grapple. Kind of the way some people mash out TAC counters during air combos.

It’s a mixup, not guaranteed. They recover before the command grab comes out and can throw/jab you out of it or jump. Give them a reason to not press buttons before attempting it. Actually I wouldn’t even call this a reliable reset, there are very few situations where it is worth going for

Does spencer have any reliable resets. Also whats his tac options

Appreciate the links, thanks.

Regarding resets and Spencer…as far as I know, he doesn’t have any super reliable ones. As mentioned by others, the up grapple into command grab one isn’t that reliable. The only reason why you see it work so often on streams is because people don’t know their options against Spencer. Now you can still attempt this reset, but you shouldn’t do it in obvious situations. You should also weigh the pros and cons before doing it. For example, if you hear your opponent mashing buttons, it’s probably not a good idea to attempt it.

However, let’s be honest for a second, if you are relying on resets with Spencer, then you are probably not playing the character right. This character does ridiculous damage.

I dunno. Sometimes you want to save meter, sometimes it’s okay to risk them reading it. Sometimes you can’t kill them. And, you can pretty much end every combo in a reset what with OTG grapple > j.M being cool like that.

For sure. I just wouldn’t do it too often, which is what I meant by relying on it. I never thought of the j.M as being a reset haha, you’re right about that though.

I think a good example of when to use the reset is in the third match between Knives and RayRay yesterday at SummerSlam (the match starts at about 4:32:00 ish). Just for the people who were wondering:
