Ok, changes have been made.

In order to finish the tournaments in a reasonable amount of time, we will be doing Double Elimination, but now only one match will be played between players (still 2/3 rounds for Guilty Gear and 3/5 rounds for Tekken). You guys know how things went at my tournament earlier this year (7 friggin hours for 2 tourneys with less than 10 people each).

At the wishes of the tournament’s director, all macros are now banned. Actually, they were supposed to be banned earlier, but this I did not realize until after I posted.

you guys shouldnt throw this tournament on the 29th, delay it till later because you are competing with midwest classic 5 in ohio, and everyones going to that, you guys should make a trip up there too. if you do maybe ill even show up at your champain tourny :wink:

Well, this is meant to be a small local tournament, not something even as “prestigous” as, say, a UIC tournament :rofl:. Most of the players here aren’t all that experienced yet, so it’s just something to pique interest. I’m not even going to compete, for a number of reasons (one being that I’m running both tournaments).

So, we’re not really competing with OMC5. Nobody here is going there, and nobody there is coming here. Of course, anyone is allowed to come down and play, but I don’t think the competition is going to be where you guys want it to be. :rofl:

However, a couple of us WILL be coming up for your tournament this weekend. :rock:

For all the other fighting gamers at UIUC, I am thinking of making an RSO club so we can sign out places and organize tournaments. Need a name though… post suggestions!

So the club is the Society for Competitive Fighting Games. Abbreviated as SoCom or SoComF just to make things easier. (Yes, I know SoCom is an existing game, screw that though).

I am president, mainly cuz I filled out the paper work, TheSquelched here, or Chojin is treasurer, and it was originally Aric’s idea though.

Alternative name: Illini Dragon Punchers, since Chojin here refuses to call it anything else. Which is aiite, I respect.

Essentially, this is to attract and unify the people who are interested in competitive play, that way we can set up tournaments and such, and also we can meet other players.

Right now, the games that SoCom covers is Guilty Gear XX #Reload, Street Fighter 3rd Strike, Melty Blood Re-Act. Any others people are interested in, I am open to it.

I want to see how many people we attract.

Basically, this is how it started. A group of us normally met together once a week last semester to play guilty gear xx #r, and I usually go with a small group of people who play ggxx too. So Aric goes “Why don’t we start an RSO club? We meet so regularly, and we have enough people.”

So why not? Anyways, I had the free time to setup the paperwork. Also, setting up the tournament attracted some people, and I even heard someone refer to us as “an organization” so midst as well.

No way man, i mostly play 3S, Tekken, and some other games im not that good at. Im pretty good at Garou: MOTW and thats about the only SNK game im good at. Im not tooo bad at CvS2.

Going back home

Well, I am 19 years old, and I am a computer engineering at the U of I. I will be done with my summer class this week-end so I will come back home on saturday or sunday. somthing like that. and I will be more than welcome to play some Tekken and SvC2 and I could introduce you to the world of GGXX#R if you want!!!
