UIUC Thread - Stage 2: Yamete!

i’m sorry andrew, i fucked up. you shoulda told me earlier. D:

and we got over 100 names today. good job to everyb… erm… ME. gf back in town now. going out tonight.

jerry, you should e-mail everybody on the list about the tournament again and link them to our srk thread as well. tell them to register also.

aiite aiite, anything else i should add?

hmm perhaps make e-mail lists for games with high interest?

we saw that many people were interested in smash and soul calibur. we don’t play those games at all, but if we make e-mail lists for the people who are interested, it would help them a lot in making contact with each other. it won’t directly affect any of us but it certainly would be positive rep for the organization i think.

that could be done when you have free time, though.

i don’t have classes on friday, and i only have one on thursday. what sweet schedule. but my wednesdays are horrible… o well, we are on monday schedule today.

lol, orka likes “delicious flat chests”

gg’s all

bye dan! we will miss yoo!

Still no internet… I’m posting from Siebel after my CS241 class. However, I should have it set up by today… hopefully.

chris, a scrub like you wouldn’t know half the story behind that joke. and it’s not even about me.

actually, there are many things even within our crew that you don’t know about. but that’s not too surprising is it?

D:

Secrets! Maybe the club is some kind of underground extortion scheme…conspiracy!

what? society for competitive fighting games drama?

we should put this in our e-mails.

stfu jerry, you’re in the same boat as him

yah, i dunno what chris is talking about. lotsa secrets i dunno bah.

Actually, I dunno what you are talking about.

Anyways, this is the e-mail i am planning on sending out. For you 3, maybe you can list something about yourselves. I actually don’t know what positions everyone is other than me and scott. Yosh was publicity chair last year, though since Chris is pretty active, I decided to give him a spot too.

But Yosh has been here longer, so I gave Yosh a higher position.

I dunno, I pretty much wrote down whatever.

Ah, so welcome (back) to school and into the Society for Competitive Fighting Games. The main purpose of this club is to create a forum for people who play fighting games to find more competition. Fighting games just aren’t as much fun if you don’t have people to play.

So we essentially set up casual play, and tournaments. All of this is for fun, so we are open to players of all skill levels, and are open to all games, as long as there is someone to host it. I will make announcements for when and where we will be holding certain games.

The games most of our members currently play are Guilty Gear XX Slash, Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike, and Super Street Fighter II Turbo. In the past, we have setup tournaments for Guilty Gear XX Slash, Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike, Super Smash Brothers Melee, Soul Calibur 3, and Tekken 5.

Not all, but some of our members (and other people around the nation) post in a forum thread on Shoryuken.com. If you want the latest info on our casuals the moment we decide to have them instead of waiting for my e-mail, then you should definitely register for a user name at Shoryuken.com. This is also a chance for you to voice your opinion to the members of the club. I highly recommend it.

Our thread is under Regional Matchmaking > Midwest: Discussion & Matchmaking > UIUC Thread - Stage 2: Yamete! Here is the link:

http://www.shoryuken.com/forums/showthread.php?t=112192

We currently have people hosting Guilty Gear XX Slash, Melty Blood: Act Cadenza, Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike, Super Street Fighter II Turbo, and Dead or Alive 4.

I am compiling lists for specific games. That is, if you only want to hear news about a specific game(s) and don’t care about any other game(s), then send me an e-mail with your name, and game(s) you want to hear about.

Also, I am creating lists of players for each game so that individuals are able to contact each other to have casuals outside of the club. This way, people have access to the games that are not as active in the club. If you do not want your contact info released, send me an e-mail. I will keep you in the general announcements e-mail, but I will not release your contact info. I will probably give a weeks time for people to e-mail me about that.

EDIT: Give me some feedback. Like if I missed anything important.

So are we gonna have like, some kind of “master list” to have people use as reference to find a local match for whatever game they are interested? You could send out said “list” in an upcoming e-mail. Hopefully it’ll encourage others to play. I like it.

SOoooo, is the tournament still on for this saturday??? Anyone want to get together for some thirdstrike? I can host at my place if anyone wants to play before this saturday. My Number is 309-532-4245 and im James. Im living in the barr apartments at 609 West Main.

edit–My email is cardoni2@uiuc.edu

Awsome thanks, however… eh… ah… For some reason I can only save it as a web page, so each time I want to play it I always have to hit open in windows media player or what have you. I cant seem to switch it to a media file by default… is there a reason for this???

Tournament is on this saturday.

Ah, you live really really close to me.

i’ll be at scott’s apartment this afternoon

gotta go to work around 7 though

clayton, if you’re opening the track in windows media player, there should be a option under “file” that says “save media as…”

EDIT:

jerry, make sure to ask people at q’doba today if it’s okay if we borrowed some folding chairs on saturday. and distribute the extra flyers.

yea youd think that’d work… but alas it does not. Always saves it back as a web page, cant change it. Random shrug… Oh wel thanks anyway.

Thats cool you live close. Im ready for this tournament, like i said, anyone wanna get some games in before?

Yo I’m new to the area, but this tournament should be ill

ah is that max?

yah humbag, i would be up for games. teach me 3s.
