As for Games. Someone had the desire to create the complexities known as a video game which find their root in simple games. My brain is fulfilled in completing the challenges created by them. I don’t play them because they exist. I play them because I enjoy the challenges they present. It all extends from the desire for the brain to be stimulated by complex issues and that’s how games form from a natural desire to create and solve. This a super simple thing to understand, you’re making it more complicated then it needs to be for no real reason at all other then to be obtuse.
Videogames are just a more complex version of games of the past because as humans, more or less, we’ve moved past those simple games and desire something more complex and engaging.

You’re resistant to the notion that video games are one of our current expressions of a deeper, inborn need. You seem to have an objection to video games specifically, for reasons that I can only speculate about. That resistance is the premise from which the rest of your argument springs. This logic is flawed–resistance is a rational reaction to a conclusion, not a premise for an argument. Because of this, you’re having to play dumb in order to keep your argument going–equivocating terms, for example, or attacking my character by insinuating that I’m a gaming dweeb who’s only looking to make more of my habit.

I don’t know how many times it needs to be stated, but there’s been research showing that we do indeed have a need for play, and as was already stated SEVERAL TIMES, videogames are a FORM of play brought about by technological changes. No one said we HAVE to play videogames, just that videogames are one of several outlets that satisfy our need for play.
