UFC 2009: Undisputed Thread

Throw>block>strike>throw

Mid/low strikes and mid/low blocking

Minor and major counters (they even call them by those names) etc. etc.

Check out the tutorial.

That is hilarious… . too bad Chuck is no where near that level of skill in real fighting though… After 10 years you’d THINK he’d try to keep his hand up… LOL.

NEED to download the demo sometime, but have been following this quite abit and am looking forward to it. Good to read good things about it, on a side note who else thinks UFC 98 is going to be sick? Evans FTKnockout!

Oh hell yeah son.

First time I played the demo I was like “well this is slow and shit” but, strangely enough an hour later I found myself quite enjoying it.

i managed to sub chuck out of like 100,000 matches. it was a north south choke, i really got lucky with it. and how the hell did he defend my rear naked choke for 2 minutes?!?

oh and thai clinch with knees = win

The term can comes from the term tomato can, referring to japanese fighters who’d be thrown to the wolves in Pride FC and would bleed all over the canvas. In other words if i played valle, you guys would refer to me as a can.

Now on to the UFC game. I think it’s eerily similar to the dreamcast version, just an hd remake of it. The game is crap, the collision impacts are unrealistic, the way they move around the cage is unrealistic. As a former boxer and bjj practitioner i know a little bit about what I’m talking about and felt very unsatisfied playing this game. Fight night round 3 was awesome, besides the parrying garbage, the game felt very real. The game is too random, theres no life bar so lets say if you’re trying to work the legs or the body, the characters movement doesn’t really show anything besides a random cut above the eye. I’ll pick the game up when it’s 19.99 but thq is a garbage company and the game should of been licensed to ea

The lack of life bar is a good thing…But yea they could have other cues like limping and such.

Well hopefully they will implement the limb damage in the final build. I played the hell out of Pride FC for PS2 and I will play the hell out of Undisputed too.

I think it’s a lot different from the Pride game and the Dreamcast version, Shogun and Iceman both have their real life personalities and movement whereas the Dreamcast and Pride games had generic animations such as the southpaw stance, well the Pride game was a little better with the animations. Iono about the superman punch for Liddell though, I don’t recall him ever throwing one. Love fight night and so far I’m loving Undisputed. I am hyped at how the next MMA game is gonna turn out.

No one will be able to handle his riddum!

I’m loving the demo. Some of the KOs are too good in this game.

I played it for about 10 minutes. Striking is awesome, but I cant wait to get a good tutorial on the ground game.

I tried to get Chuck out with a kneebar and a kimura but to no avail. I love the Rocked moments, better than FN’S KO moment. I made Chuck’s right side turn into a huge purple welt, and this is really funny b/c I had him in trouble 5 times and went for GnP (dude’s ability to take GnP is this game is nuts!) and he came back and knocked me out. It will be nice once the game is released to play other ppl who will takes this game seriously. BTW, if you buy it from FYE or Coconuts, I went there yesterday and you get the UFC 93 DVD+poster for free with purchase

The first UFC game on dreamcast and ps 2 was actually not bad.

It had some depth to it unlike the second one. I know this because I applied some fighting game principles from tekken and went on a 50 streak against my friends.

Loving the game so far besides the load times and iffy layout but impressed with how well the ground game works.

Going to make a Cobrinha clone when it comes out.

I have the Dreamcast one and that game was excellent, haven’t played it in years though.

I got a KO 9 seconds into the first round last night. Chuck came out with a leg kick and I hit him with a punch, Lutter/Eastman style.

That’s the only thing that worries me. It’s going to suck if when online, you get freak KO’d by some random guy and they won’t rematch you.

Yeah, I’m really liking the demo now that I’ve played the tutorial and sort of know what i can do. The only thing I don’t like is how quickly KOs can happen. I suppose I’ll just have to hold the high guard button all the time.

It is way too hard to submit someone in this game and random KOs suck. Dominate the whole fight, one punch hits, it’s over. Why is it so hard to get submissions and why if it’s so damn hard do I get punished by giving up side control everytime I don’t get my submission? There are defently problems with the game. The lack of character specific moves suck too so far. I mean basically Chuck and Shogun play the same except for 5 moves that are different.

Tiers?
