That’s what would happen to me. I would play with the kickboxer style while my buddy used the grappling/submission wrestling guys. Matches were usually over in 10-15 secs. It was just a matter of how fast he could catch me.

Please do not bring that term into this game. It’s trite, and improperly used. Especially when people call people that beat them “scrubs”… Yeah. Where’s the logic in that? A scrub is a person with minimal skills and overabundance of arrogance. Call them “Cans” it’s a proper MMA term this ain’t Street Fighter.

Unfortunately that’s all I have to contribute =**( On another note I have a strong feeling that the Superman punch will be this game’s srk due to it’s range and knockout ability.

I just hope it lasts way better than any of the crappy Fight Night series…

I found the demo quite confusing for someone who’s never played an MMA game before. So much shit you can do but the demo just drops you in with no explanation outside of menus. I did like what little I’ve played so far but I have to admit I’m not very big on getting knocked out and losing a round with one well-placed punch or kick, before my guy is even really tired. Still, I’ll likely pick this or Fight Night R4 up.

I’m looking forward to d/l it when it drops on PSN later today. I’m a huge fan of simulation based fighting games, so I’ve been looking forward to this and the overhauled Fight Night Round 4.

Yeah it’s gonna be nice to take a break from srks and hadokens for a little bit. And yes the Superman Punch will be the Undisputed’s equivalent of the srk. Belee dat.

I wonder how they balance striking & submission. Haven’t played the demo but the video I watched looked pretty promising, especially the ground game. For example the pass guard animation looked really smooth.

It’s balanced pretty nicely it’s very basic, press forward on left stick and one of the face buttons excutes a power shot, if someone spams punches you can duck under with a takedown and it’s a guaranteed takedown if you excuted off of someone’s punch. Submissions aren’t automatic anymore, you press down on the right stick, to get into position then you either mash face buttons or rotate the right stick.

There’s a tutorial in the demo? I kind of assumed that I’d only be able to choose one or two modes, like in most demos. :sweat:

Just played the demo. I’m having a blast. Definitely better than I expected.

Downloaded it this morning and have been playing it. I agree, it’s better than I expected. However there’s still some polish I’d like to see in the game. When you’re doing some ground and pound and the opponent is rocked, the sweat that is flying off of the guy’s face doesn’t look as nice as the other effects.

Hopefully that’s just something that’s in the demo and will be enhanced in the full version. Submissions seem to be pretty difficult to pull off in the first and second rounds unless you’re really going for them. Have to wear down the opponent’s stamina with body shots and leg kicks, then you’ll have a good chance to win on submission.

Chuck’s striking is no joke in the game, his superman punch is overpowered haha. Makes me wonder how crazy GSP’s is going to be. It’s also funny to see Chuck taking punishment well in the game, given how unfortunate his last fight was.

The high kick is alil TOO effective in this game, lol…
