Initially, I didn’t play with visible stamina but I find it useful to know when to back off. It also helps you know when to go for a submission.
yes, i play with stam bar. like what dashpanda said
I know that, what I was talking about was after my friend had made a character and spent all his points in all his stats, he went back later to try to fine tune his character and was greeted with an extra 3000 points to spend on his stats.
As for a SRK league, LET’S GET ON IT!
I’m down for a SRK league, even though I am beyond terrible.
Quick question. For escaping Muay Thai clinches you just have to guess which way they are going to whip and go the opposite way? Or can you do it on reaction? I haven’t got the timing down or anything yet.
Is it the same for blocking transitions?
And finally, when I am in full mount, is it just a minor transition to get up? It seems like they always hold me close and if I try to minor transition I go back to side mount.
Alright, SRK league it is! Rock is gonna be the president since he does fight…I’ll be the secretary a.k.a Dana White…instead, I’m gonna be Dana Black. You ready? You ready? Let’s fight.
No, major transitions are for escape, hcb or hcf is major, qcb, qcf is minor. Yes, for the clinch you must go the opposite way, and if you’re in a mount hit L3 to get up…or thats click the left stick in.
Yeah, you have to guess.
No, you can react to those. Same for reversing transitions.
Could someone post a gameplay vid or match of this game showcasing it’s features?
I may consider getting this game (BTW can I create The Rock?).
I ordered a video capture device a few days back. When I get it I can upload my matches.
Eyebrows are symmetrical in the create a fighter mode so…
has anyone noticed if you play someone’s CAF that if they max out their subs they submit you immediately? I played this guy ranked twice, I was beating him on the feet, when he had me in his guard both matches, despite my hammering the right stick to technical escape, the guy subbed me twice. Either that or he used a turbo controller. Anyway, it was weird.
Were you low on stamina? Cuz you if were constantly punching and trying to pass, you gas yourself pretty quick.
nope, the second time was right as the round started. I usually try to improve position first before knees and or punches on the ground.
a league would definitely be cool
If they were a BJJ’er then it is possible that he probaly capped it too 110 [I think you can go as far as 115 if you train BJJ ALL the way after level 3]. Essentially you would need a defense of 110 or 115 to even begin to fight back which I think only BJJ can attain that. Wrestling has takedown offense/defense bonuses while Judo has Clinch Grapple Defense and Offense bonuses.
I really need to see if you can go over 110. Because in the training camps, whenever you would go over level 1, you begin to get bonuses to your attributes. My throw away boxing/BJJ has 110 Submission offense. He would always eat the sparring partner. Funny enough though the game would be like “Bitch please” if you try to submit him again aka you can’t submit him twice in the span of two minutes.
I haven’t had much luck with KO’ing the guy. The guy would just telegraph my shit and block all the time. Kinda makes my Muay Thai kinda useless since I gotta deliver a shitload of knees to the body in order to “fake him out” so I can start doing knees to the head where KOs happen faster.
Another thing to note, you cannot KO someone with slams. I would get the “Gray” animation when I do a body shot and they remain standing, only to do a clinch slam then the gray animation would turn back to color almost instantly. Although you can slam —> gray animation —> heavy body shot when you are in the ground for referee stoppage.
Slams take a good chunk of damage too. Wrestling has most of the goods ones [perhaps that’s kinda obvious] but I can’t figure out how to do those single leg takedowns. Is it some sort of counter? Judo has a kinda shitty standard one which is the trip into guard. The over and under one is badass with the Judo flip… but becareful! I found out that they can reverse your ass on that Judo flip into a rear naked choke! I think only BJJ’ers can do that.
But yeah all the styles bring something interesting. With Boxing you can pretty much not even bother with standing strike offense and pump up the shit out of your other stats. Muay Thai is better in close offense where it seems a lot of online scrub players are scared in doing, which they rather play keep-away with Kickboxing with “game-ending” head kicks. Muay Thai can do it too but I think provide better tools in the clinch than Kickboxing.
Although Spinning Back fist / Super-Man Punch is really really fast and strong! The Muay Thai Tiger knee is a bit slow for my tastes and easily evaded. So is the roundhouse kick to the body. Hell even Boxing’s “FALCON PUNCH” from probing seems faster. :bgrin:
So I think I am going to remake my fighter into a Boxer/Wrestler. I was Muay Thai/Wrestler but the clinch game is too iffy on the computer. Plus, I would always go for takedowns into ground and pounds, which is better suited for a Boxer.
Yeah, I made a Thai/Judo and I’m not pleased. I think I’ll try for a KB/Judo or KB/BJJ next.
I’m getting this game for the PS3 also. For now, I’ll be sending some friend requests to you 360 players.
I’d be up for a fight leauge. Seems like some nights I have no trouble finding a match, some nights, it’s 20 minutes between matches.
I could have told you about Thai/Jude Rioting Soul…not a good combination…I tried it.
I’m not happy with my CAF having a MT base. I tend to do better with a guy like Frank Mir with MT/BJJ. I prefer a ground fight and working on my transitions. Online I really can get away with abusing body kicks, which are in essence like the US K-1 game on PS2 where it functions like a jab, to keep them zoned. Kind of like Rufus’ cr. fierce, deceptive range. RiotingSoul, it’d be fun to spar with you online on PS3. How do you do judo throws with Karo Parisyan? I’ve gone into body clinch, then L1+ right stick, but he does a trip takedown into guard. I was expecting a judo throw.
The Judo-throw happens when you do L1-right stick up from over/under clinch, which occurs when your opponent does one transition towards you after you clinched. It’s a much better move than the trip to open guard, since it puts you in side control. But they can counter it and then you end up on your knees with them on top.
It’s just as Jigsama said. The only ways you can get Judo-throw is when:
-the opponent transitions to Over/Under from your Double Under
-the opponent grabs you in a Double Under
-you parry a punch(transition to Over/Under)
Sucks that you can’t just go into Over/Under on your own.
I actually haven’t played any real characters yet other than Rua/Liddell(demo). I only have one year left for my MT/Judo CAF career. Once I’m done I work on my KB/Judo.
MT/Judo has to be the worst combo in the game.
I know what you mean, no power moves to speak of. KB has the superman punch and turnaround punch, easier to retaliate/counter with than the knees from whip.
Judo is great for getting out of the mount, but I prefer the versatility of BJJ on the ground. Also standing armbars are great, but I don’t actually know if they’re BJJ exclusive.
