Udon comics and CFJ endings

Yo!

Although Udon may have heard this countless times, I want to be another to say it.
I really love the work done on the CFJ endings, it was perfect.
I think, if UDON did the same thing and put the same effort in the regular monthly issues, it would be the best selling comics and definately the highest quality ones!
I hope to see stuff like that in the monthly comics!
Take care and keep up the great work!!!

ps. does anyone have any good high res pics of the endings online??

Top work UDON!!!

Do the endings make sense?
The endings in the EX games were horrible. Especially nm 3
It’s been a long time since I’ve seen good SF endings.
The VS series endings haven’t been that great.
SF 3 ending are well drawn though

Yeah thats why I like the UDON CFJ endings so much… they are so well drawn, as is the SF3.
Although sometimes I think a few speech bubbles would help… or something.
Does anyone know where to find any good resolution pics of the UDON endings??
Does UDON plan to print them in an issue of their on-going projects? It would be a great collection of images I think.

While i would also love to see a Udon CFJ One-Shot comic collecting all the endings, perhaps with some commentary at the end to go along with it, i have to disagree with your other points. The SF Comic is awesome and has been awesome for pretty much every issue. There were some points where the art suffered slightly, but it was still way way better than most of the stuff out there. A lot of people also complain about story. I’m obviously a bit biased towards SF here, but i think the SF comic also has way better story than a lot of stuff out there.

On the other hand, there are a lot of other top top top quality comics out there that are doing way worse than the mediocre mainstream stuff. A lot of really good comics are getting canceled simply because they don’t get the sales numbers.

I’m sorry, but sales is simply not an issue of quality. Like Erik has stated numerous times, the problem is with the market. Every comic book store you go to sells out of their first batch of SF/Darkstalkers comics every single time. They always have to reorder, but sometimes they don’t even bother to do that. If there was a way to increase retailer order numbers, the comic would be doing much better. The pure and simple fact is that getting the artists to cancel all their other projects to concentrate only on the SF comic isn’t going to help. Even if they cancel sleeping and eating, and if their family is held hostage until Time_Stop approves of every single panel on every single page isn’t going to do it either.

I mean, sure, if the quality drops noticeably in every issue, it will hurt their reputation. But that has not been the case. There was only one or two issues where the art was not as good as their usual work, and i think there were also one or two backup stores that weren’t as widely accepted as the popular ones. But that’s simply not the cause of the sales problem, and asking for more arbitrary ā€œqualityā€ isn’t the solution.

Fairdoos fairdoos… I understand your points. But now I’m wondering, how is it that quality doesn’t always sell well? I would have thought quality helps with sales?? O_o
I never implied that they should quit anything aside to soley concentrate on their work on the SF comics.
Yes, the comics have been awesome and yes, the level did go down a little for a few issues. But the way the CFJ endings seemed… was too good, lol. Seriously, I thought it was top notch, that’s why I think they should make a little compilation of the endings… I’d buy 5 copies if that helps!
But I think the comics are getting better! Issue 13 was great!

Who was Ingrid exactly? Surely Udon must have some character for her planned when they created her ending.

I think she was specifically made for that game… I THINK, that is.
I also think I read that she was just there to represent the whole game (CFJ) because she’s not in any of the other games…

Can anyone else give a more specific answer??

There have always been books out that are better written than X-Men, better drawn than X-Men, but will never sell close to the numbers of X-Men. Runaways was critically acclaimed, but that didn’t stop it from getting canceled.

Quality certainly helps, and it’s never a bad thing, but it’s not the only thing.
People have to know about it in order for it to sell well. They could get CRMK to do every issue of Street Fighter and Darkstalkers and it probably wouldn’t increase the sales much.
J.Vasqueze got more recognition for doing Invader Zim than he ever did for Johnny or Squee.
The public can’t like what it doesn’t know about, which is where advertising, word of mouth, and retailers pulling their head’s out of their asses comes in.

The CFJ endings were something Udon could use to branch out from comics and have it’s work seen by a wider audience, so of course, they put a lot of effort into it. It could possibly lead to other Capcom game jobs, which, call me crazy, probably pays better than comics.

Ingrid was created originally for a game called Capcom Fighting All-Stars. It was 3D and featured Ryu, Charlie, Batsu, Akira, Haggar, Poison and 3 new characters: Ingrid, D.D., and Rook.

Unfortunately (or fortunately depending on your outlook), the game played horribly in the Beta stage and was scrapped for the Copy & Paste job we know as Capcom Fighting Jam/Evolution. Ingrid was the only character they kept from CFAS and made her CFE exclusive.

Will she show up elsewhere? Who knows.

She’ll probably get filed away with Son Son, Ruby Heart & Anmigo…

Oh, I knew Ingrid was created for Capcom Fighting All*Stars. I just thought that she may have had some background created by Udon to explain her appearance in the game and ending.

Also, Chun-Li and Strider-Hiryu would have been in CFAS too.

From what I’m guessing, she has some sort of connection to the Sun, maybe a Sun goddess… Her powers apparently lie in her ā€œbunsā€ (no, not those buns…) as she seems different when she takes them off in her CFE ending…

Other than that, it’s all conjecture.

Like I said, she is in the same category as Son Son, Ruby Heart & Amingo: Appears once ever, and then instantly forgotten.

I don’t think we’ve seen the last of Ingrid. Rubyheart, Sonson and Amingo are forgotten because Japan doesn’t give a crap about MVC2, hence MVC2’s absense from all three Arcadia tournaments. Ingird has recieved tons of fan art in Arcadia issues even when she first appeared as a CFAS character, she has a gashaphon of her back when CFAS was being discussed, before Capcom stopped the write in votes on their SF 15th Anniversary Poll she was number 17 and she’s not even a Street Fighter character. And now that CFE has come out she is still recieving plenty of fan art in Arcadia. She maybe two new for Namco x Capcom but I hardly doubt Capcom won’t ever use her again.

Ruby Heart was created JUST for MvC2. The whole storyline revolves around her (what little there is) what with that red orb she has and how its the center of Abyss.

SonSon is actually from an old game Capcom made. They have it on one of those multi-game arcade machines in the VCU arcade (I forget what they’re called, but its like Mame in an arcade machine). The game is called… wait for it… SonSon. As you can tell she/he/it is based on the Legend of Son Goku (the same thing that Goku from DBZ is based on).

Amingo was a random character design for a Capcom game that was scrapped, pretty much they found the designs and randomly threw him into MvC2.

Ingrid gets fanart cause she’s a hottie in a skirt and stockings. As far as her storyline goes (that I know) she’s loaning her body to a Sun Goddess, and the Goddess uses her hair ornaments as a channel to enter her body. If you look at her winquotes and mid-boss introductions, she talks like an ā€˜old lady’ (In english they made her say ā€˜whippersnappers’, but if you get someone to translate the japanese, she uses an older dialect and her honoraries are what an old woman would use).

Ingrid’s bio from Capcom’s CFJ website. Translation done by the great Vasili10.

INGRID

From a sweet appearance she calls out mysterious ā€œabilitiesā€ to make fun of opponents. The purposes of her birth, fight, and so on are wrapped in mystery.

you know, from her win quotes we can guess she is a ā€œmeta-humanā€/Cyborg of some sort (ā€œso this is what its like to have gigglesā€ anyone?) I just hope she not another clone…

boyardee

Can anyone tell me what Dan says when he taunt’s?
Sano HELP!! TAS where are you?
Well anyway, I always wanted to know. It sounds like he’s saying I want my Daddy! or Chef boyardee

I WANT boyardee!!!

Dan’s famous win quote ā€œYatta ze…Oyaji!ā€ translates to ā€œI did it, dad!ā€

hey what does he say during the super taunt… I can get Yahoo and orah but the other words are a total blur…
