I’m pretty pissed at jrock star too. He’ll always moan when I step on the machine or when he “has to play me.” I’m not trying to be mean, I just want to play with some of the better players. So he’ll beat me with something stupid like universal overhead, dp super and not say anything (or taunt). I win with akumar later and he tries to play akuma as well with the nasty purple and orange colors. I double perfect him. Fuckin’ bitch, that’s what he gets for steppin’.
Andy Lau’s getting annoying too. He’s discovering the joy of turtling while I attempt to parry -> sweep the entire match in order to regain some honor.

btw, today i was on fire with bison. i got to 60+ hits with bison including super. and i landed the bison cc so many times. 70% of them were against john

UCI MvC2/3s/CvS2 Winter Sun Tournament
January 22nd, 2005, Saturday of 2nd week
$5 dollar entry each game
2 matches in winners, 1 match in losers (except for MvC2 - 2 matches in losers)
No glitches, etc…judgement [sic] will be in effect
This time, we got convex for all! However, it is still pay-to-play. Once my boss gets around to asking Primetime if they could lower the cost to 1 coin, I will not know how much. Assume that it’s 50 cents, meaning the EXACT SAME SETUP LIKE LAST TIME, i.e., everytime you play something, put in one quarter while your opponent does the same.
I’m seriously thinking about capping the brackets, too…last time was a nightmare to produce, and of course people still complained about their placements. I’m open to advice here; help me out!
I also have a favor to ask…if anyone has something to cover the doors closest to the bookstore, then that would be much appreciated for the players and the match recorders. The glare was distracting last time…
Once all the details are finalized, I will post this stuff up in the T&E area.

i think it’s fine…once people showed up, they didn’t really complain too much about the pay per play shit…
of course they said a lot on the forums, but that’s probably cuz they wanted to say something about the tourney(i.e. how i complained about the cvs2 screen at long beach…it’s still all good).
so whatever, if they don’t like the pay per play, just don’t come. it’s gonna be a fun tourney anyways. last tourney was tight, so should this one. pay per play(25 each) shouldn’t discourge people too much, i’m sure everyone spend tons more quarters during casual anyways.
do you still have the rankings from last tourney’s result? just use that for the seeding. and any top player shouldn’t get special benefits if they haven’t been to uci tourney before…
however i’m a little confused as to what you would do for the players who came to the first one and didnt’ come to the second one…give them seeding too? i dunno…
what are you gonna cap it at?

My humble advice would be to give 2/3 for losers in 3s as well seeing as 1 game of 3s takes about the same amount of time as one game of MvC2
Last time you didnt seed anything properly. Is a very simple formula really, just take the top seeds an place them as far apart (bracketwise) as they can be. After that its a good idea to try and separate people who are from the same area, for example 2 people from zz shouldnt have to play each other in the first match or 2. Last tourney I had to play 2 ppl from zz then mike watson (!) in losers (!!!).
the seeding should accordingly to uci’s ranking, not APEX’s ranking(which doesn’t exist anymore). isn’t that how it’s done for every local tourney?
Generally, it’s best to seed people by skill AND by location. What i normally do is separate all the best players first. After that’s all said and done, separate who is left by location. And John, if the tourney is a done deal, i think we should post it in tournaments and events.

ok Dentron, you will be in charge of all the brackets, or at least CvS2. Forget the fact that I placed Albert and Watson at the opposite end of the brackets, I didn’t seed anything properly. You’re right, it’s probably a very simple formula and I’m just too much of an imbecile to figure it out. I’m sure you’d be able to make everyone happy.
