Just another thing, signups for the tournament will start on friday 345 and stop at about 420 (lol). This is so i can have enough time to organize the bracket. The bracket will consist of random name drawings from a hat. Ill just assumes that everyone is starting at the same level since we have no pre tournament rankings to go by. And its double elimination, so dont feel bad if I paired you up against a hard opponent, you’ll still have a chance. Keep in mind this completely random and Im not out to intentionally screw anybody.
I guess I’m just spoiled. :looney: I don’t know why you can’t just open the machines up (the same way I’ve seen you guys do it 3-4 times each time something on it breaks) and just manually push the coin lever 50 or 60 times and let us be on our way
Anyway I’m gonna be down at the MU around 4:40~6:40 recording as many matches as I can to test out sound quality and battery life. If you want your ass even more on the Internet than it already is then show up and give Sean or Jack a run for their money

This should definitely be a mutually beneficial thing. I'm happy that people are showing up to volunteer/play/watch/whatever and I hope that attendance increases, not because the MUGA needs more money (though it never hurts), but just to keep people involved. I think that we have a pretty good group of guys down here right now; though the amount of shit talking/money matches needs to increase and I think competition will help that. Tourneys are great. They make everyone step up their game and people generally show up with new shit.
I’m going to fool around with a vga splitter off of the main machine on friday to see if I can capture video. If anyone feels like searching the internets for how arcadia does it, that would be nice.
Honestly, sleazoid’s idea had occurred to me, but the staff in the MUGA isnt in favor of it. Regardless I think I’ll give Marty a bag of tokens to hand out to the players on the slave machine (or put them in the machine), so that everyone only has to pay one token per side, which I feel is a fair amount.
I’ll check the buttons on friday, while I can’t guarantee that everything will be perfect, I’ll try to jimmyrig everything to the best of my ability. The sanwas we ordered, both the 24s and 30s don’t fit properly and the 2nd order of korean buttons have yet to show up. If someone has some 28 mm sized spare buttons, bring em down and Ill throw em in.

Memory stick ran out of space before my batteries died, was expecting the opposite. Apparently a 2:40 match takes up 100MB of space… still got about 42 minutes of footage. Don’t worry Andrew, I deleted those 17 seconds of you beasting on some 7 year old. Nobody will know!
It’ll take a while to upload all of it, I only get about 120kb/s upload here and 1.6GB of video to upload. Nowhere near as fast as 2.5MB/s upload back at the dorms…

My take on this is that MUGA is an arcade. Arcades and fighting games aren’t the same as they used to be as more and more people make their own personal “arcades” and personally I think it sucks. Like many of you guys, I’m an arcade junkie and it’s fun playing against you guys and hanging out before I’m sent back to lecture and sitting like a drone. I’m okay with spending 60 cents a game too, if you ever been to the arcades years back or go to a Tilt right now, they all charge 50 cents game for anything, which I used to hate because as much as I suck at playing games, I used to be a lot worse (I’m sure you guys can’t imagine that ha!).
Overall, I like how the arcade community grew this year and I sometimes feel like I’m reliving the good old arcade times (for lack of a better phrase) since many around my hometown have a dead scene like some of the Tilts or Golflands. I remember when it’s just me and Matt and Jake and Aure just spending an hour or two just playing CvS2 and we were the only ones there.

Btw, is there an estimate on when the tournament should end? Maybe we can all go get something to eat afterwards. It would be kind of nice.

GG’s to everyone i played today. Don’t remember hardly anyones names other than the one guy who introduced himself as a poster here (forgot the screen name too). Nice to know i got a 6 streak going with Bison/Zangief . Although my Viper needs more work as i was learning as i was playing (or getting beasted on for that matter). I think I’m down for the tourney on Friday as well as my boy, what time is it again? I need to burn up these left over tokens that i got. I like how Tyram got 25 streak today and it took forever to stop him. So long as i ran away with a perfect i didn’t care if i lost the rest of the night :lol: ggs people.

Danny, I sent AksysGames a PM regarding BB and info to contact you guys. I told them I could email the message/info to them to if needed. Hopefully they respond soon or give you guys a call.
Just a heads up (even though I know they can probably sell it better than me), the machine costs about $8k. I believe the board itself costs about $3-4k. The machine, however, is pretty damn nice. It’s a sit down, side-by-side format machine with an HD screen and comes complete with full sanwa buttons and sticks. It’s also on wheels, making it pretty easy to move. Overall it’s definitely a nice cabinet, one of the nicer ones I’ve seen.
Hopefully you guys can work something out. Let me know what’s up!
