Yeah, freeplay today was nice. Probably the longest time I spent at muga ever and it was making me sleepy near the end. Getting a chance to play that much IV helped me learn a lot. And Sean was definitely on a roll at the beginning.

Friday was fun for sure, although a note to the MU staff who may read this - having to go to the desk to get 3 tokens every time I want to play a match of SF4 is retarded. And “running out” of tokens 2 hours before the event ends is INCREDIBLY retarded, especially after we all payed 10 dollars solely for playing Street Fighter.
just to let y’all know the tentative date for the tournament is this friday 1/24 at 430. im not expecting this to be big, i actually hope that it isnt. this is just to make sure that things go smoothly and as we run more and more tournament down the road we can be able to run bigger ones more efficiently. im not expecting more than 16 people.
and dan, what days will you be in the MU this coming week. will you be there tomorrow? i still need you to teach me how to work the machines. also be sure to leave me the freeplay key on friday. unless you plan on hosting, which i really dont mind.

You can actually blame Capcom for that problem....their inability to allow the slave machine to easily enter test mode prevents us from putting both machines on freeplay. I guess I will drill into the machine sometime this week and add a freeplay button and key.
As for “running out of tokens” that shouldn’t happen, though we generally give the staff something like 2000-3000 tokens, so a lot of people must have been pocketing them. I’ll talk to the front desk staff about keeping an eye out.
And I hate your Ryu, too much free damage…
Marty, I’ll be there Tuesday and probably Friday during the day. Assuming I don’t get called into the hospital, I will check the buttons prior to your tourney.
I suggest you post official times and details. I still think that you should do a 5 to 10 dollar buy in and split the pot. It is easier and requires less work from the MUGA staff, which means fewer delays.
Finally, I recommend making these tourneys biweeklies/monthlies and run on Thursdays…but you guys can figure out what day works the best. I spoke with the marketing staff and we will eventually have some prizes for the winners as well (not for this one though, they need time to get them printed and whatnot). So I think we could do some sort of ranking system for a grand prize.

So could one of you please answer these questions for me:
What are you guys playing on, arcade cabinets, consoles, or both?
How large a field of players do your events draw?
What game(s) are currently crowd favorites?
How often do any sort of events or get-togethers happen?
Also, would you consider the play level casual or pro?

Twin Head to Head Cabs with Korean sticks and Korean Buttons. Soon to be Sanwa OBSF-24’s.
We haven’t had any street fighter events yet. Cab is only a few months old. CvS2 and Marvel usually brought about 10 player tourneys.

We’re working on at least monthly, hopefully bi weekly.
Kind of hard to tell. Our best players could probably hang with most of California, and off the top of my head, that’s probably a good 6-8 people at least. They got FADC->Ultra down and our rog players can all land headbutt to ultra easily. Our veteran blanka can FADC blanka balls into FA’s and our gief knows all of his normal ticks and setups. We play every character except el fuerte, akuma, sim, viper and claw at tournament level.
Though it’s MLK today, anyone plan on going to the MU today? i’ll be there from 4-7
