U.S on par w/Japan?

Here’s my rating of how good Japan is compared to US. A 80/20 means Japan would win 80% of the matches (though of course, to me skill is not measured in just wins but let’s do that for now).

SF4 - 85/15
GG - 95/5(maybe even bigger than that)
BlazBlue - 95/5
CvS2 - 60/40 (hmm…if US played people like Dari, Deshigitsune, etc I think it would be more iin favor of Japan)
MvC - (don’t follow, but from what I hear, it’s probably 10/90)
ST (80/20 without O Sagat, 70/30 with O Sagat)
3S - 85/15
Kof - eh…99/1?

Can’t comment on games like Tekken, VF or Vampire Savior but pretty unlikely US is better.

I agree with this I hate this attitude. The people that say such and such is always better than them might as well just fucking quit playing games. They have already lost, they will always be riding Daigos cock (Sounds like quite a few people doesn’t it), so they might as well just become a casual gamer and give up.

They only bring people like myself that believe we can play against them down, and we don’t wanna hear that. (People that think like this are like the plague…**STAY OUT OF OUR WAY! )

Most of the people saying Japan is automatically better aren’t the top players in case you all have noticed. They are the ones talking on the OUTSIDE…but notice what the ones talking FROM THE INSIDE…notice the difference in what they are saying…yeah the ones actually playing against the Japanese in tournaments, the ones actually going to Japan, the ones actually ranking high etc…

Different message ain’t it? What does that tell you all???

Shit’s not even worth discussing, since this’ll never be indefinitely resolved.

Are you kidding? It’s called showing respect and acknowledgement for the truth. I know they are better, that’s just reality. This shouldn’t prevent you from improving. If anything, ti should inspire you. It definitely inspired me.

Edit: These “dickrider” comments need to stop. Egos are getting out of control to the point where they can’t even stand to see someone getting praised/acknowledged for something they obviously deserve. EIther that or they really don’t analyze the matches to the point where they can understand why many of the Japanese player’s actions are worthy of praise. Just be realistic, don’t let your ego get in the way of your judgement.

Daigo’s views:

I agree with Herm Edwards 300%…wisely said.

Different thread, same answer.

Hey Emil when you play overseas players online… how does your meta game clash being from your moms attic. From a big fan, love you skynet! <3~

Even though Dark Geese’s is right that you shouldn’t have a self-defeating attitude. You have to also acknowledge reality…

Emil’s numbers are quite exaggerated, though.

imo

Acknowledging reality is not the same thing as having a self-defeating attitude. Acknowledging a player is better than you is not a self defeating attitude. Saying they will always be better than you is a self defeating attitude.

Big difference there. For those that feel they will always be better than you, then why do you bother playing? Why are you still entering tournaments if you know you’re just giving your money to that other player???

It’s like Herman Edwards said in that other clip “You play to win.” If you ain’t playing to win why are you playing???

Even though you know the chances might not be in your favor of winning, bottom line is what are you gonna do to raise those chances of you winning?

It takes hard work and sacrifice and make no mistake, it ain’t easy.

Of course, but my main point was Japan is just an environment conducive to higher level gameplay. I mean how many people live & breath these games? Japanese players are known to pass out in the arcades, and sleep outside of them. We don’t even have many arcades in the first place, and online only gets you so far. Until we get numbers like theirs and dedication like theirs. We only have a handful of hotspots where these games have dedicated players in the first place.

Not to mention our country isn’t even about fighting games. Most of our gamers care about shooters, and even worse now…console shooters. We can’t keep up if we don’t have enough competition in order to learn every matchup/experience every playstyle out there.

So, what I’m saying is…unless top players start regularly taking Arturo style japan trips out there we aren’t going to reach the same level. At least I don’t think so. I think this is a fair assumption based upon the facts I have, though. However, feel free to correct me where I’m wrong since you are right we are mostly the outside players.

I have a question for Emil, and this is not to be an ass or anything of that matter, just pure curiosity. But have you ever been to a tournament/ranbat/etc? I mean really played against a group of people in a real life setting and not online? Again I am not trying to be rude, I really want to know.

Played in arcades, not in arcade tournaments/ranbats. Why?

I understand that because like Arturo takes regular trips to Japan, I take regular trips to Mexico, so if there’s a will there’s a way. Yes Japanese culture is different, just like Mexican culture is different, and their mentality about the games is different overall than ours- But that has more to do with desire over anything else.

Over here unfortunately too many people look for the easy way out, and that hurts the community as a whole. They just wanna learn the tiers not the game, and that hurts the community tremendously. The people that learn the game thorough fair better, but that boils down to desire. You can’t teach desire to people, that’s the biggest iffy right there.

If they don’t have the desire to make those trips/do what it takes to rejuvenate their game and just keep making excuses, they are dead in the water from the beginning.

They’ll just wait for “insert favorite top player” to play, jockride their match videos, Xcopy them, and go from there, but they dont get it that being at that tournament is like 1000x better than seeing the match vid, plus by the time they get the match vid more than likely those tactics are old…

So theyll always be behind. What we need are more Leaders, less followers. However, being a Leader ISN’T EASY…thus a lot of people shun that hard work, and that’s part of the problem.

But thats the biggest problem I see…its all about desire!

US > Japan in Breakers Revenge, FHD and World Heroes Perfect. And yes, Japanese do play these games.

Yeah I’ll take me, Keits, and Josh (Team USA WHP  ) over to face the Japanese in WHP no questions asked… :nunchuck:

We own Japan in WHP? well that’s news to me …

Which Americans. You comparing to those TRF Japan tournaments?

I dont know if I can say we own them, but I think me (#3), Josh (#1) and Adam (#2) can beat them in WHP. If I were a betting man on US vs. Japan in WHP, I’d bet on us.

WHP EVO 2010 Revival!!!

Money Matches all around, that’d be awesome
