So Cal Trip LOG: Day 2
My pass time to sign up for classes was at 10 am, i woke up at 11 : . Luckily i got most of my classes still. After that I went to meet Andy at the ZOT ZONE (Irvines equivalent of MUGA) where we would play a couple games and then head to Family Fun (which was about an hour drive from Irvine).
Lurker, Watcher, BO guy, … we recognize these few as legends of the MUGA, well they are everywhere - ARCADE HEROES ! Zot Zone has the Voyeur, assumed to be a Watcher equivalent, and the notorious GTO… whom i had the “pleasure” of playing that day.
GTO: braces, glasses, (fob x ryan)^zhi. TURTLE FUCK ! playing this guy was the most frustrating thing i have ever encountered. I lost 6 times to him in 3s. What did he do? stand back and whiff strongs with ryu (or akuma) all game to build meter. then just do low forward xx fireball. mother fuck ! I tried to stop rushing him down and play his dirty turtle game standing back and building meter, but i just couldnt do it, i didnt have his relentess perseverance of whiffing moves. If i stayed at the other side of the screen he literally would just whiff moves until the timer ran out. he just would NOT come to me. And eventually, i became frustrated and fell into his trap. I realized why he was known as… GREAT TURTLER ONIZUKA (or Orson; he kinda looks like an Orson). After that i just picked makoto and punish his whiffs with dash punches and SA2s and red parried his low forward xx fireball. DIE DIE DIE. If this guy comes to MUGA someday, i would love to see GTO vs Ryan.
Meanwhile Andy is just OWNING fools in Cvs2 with his unique S-groove team, which probably no one has ever seen in So Cal. He tells me we will leave for FF once he loses. I think he eventually loses on purpose and we go…
We are kinda late for the tourney and traffic is super heavy, so we call LB and Tony to see whats up. Apparently, the tourney (as all tournies except DAVIS tourneys) is gonna be a bit delayed. Yay, more time for us to get there. Finally after 2 hours of traffic filled driving (should have been 40 minute drive), and a funny pair of trucks with JIM AND SON written on the side, we arrive at our exit. On our way to the street Family Fun was on (Balboa) we witness the GREATEST SIGN OF FOOD-dom EVER. NACHOS .NACHOS. NACHOS. Unfortuanetly we didnt get to eat there, but the sign was so top tier, it had a little chubby mexican guy that looked so happy… damn. Too funny.
Finally, we turn on Balboa street and turn into the parking lot of Family Fun. First thing: the street and the parking lot from the looks of it that day we arrived seemed to be the gloomiest place on earth. Gray sky, withering trees, a desolate grimy car wash… and Family Fun looked hellaaaa ghetto from the outside. Like a hella small donut shop or something with a sign straight out of the 70’s. Needless to say, I was worried… my 3rd strike paradise… : \
All my doubts about how good Family vanished as soon as I walked in. Damn… this arcade is just too dope. I walked around just exploring. NO gay ticket games. NO annoying little kids running around trying to redeem shitty plastic toys. NO two arcade cabinets alike. Haha that was one of the awesomest features. Theres 2 cvs2 cabinets. One is on a head to head cabinet, the other is on this huge PINK sega japanese cabinet. hahaha dopeness~! Also there were 6 3rd strike cabinets !! The head 2 head ones were best though >: ).
After playing a TON of casual matches vs pyrolee, arlieth, 5star, Vic, and many other random 3s players who are not famous yet are still all hella good, the team tournaments were about to start. I was on Team Davis for Cvs2 and 3rd strike (me, andy, tony). Cvs2, i went first and acted decoy. Made the other team think it would be all easy and stuff, to make it easier on Andy and Tony ^ ^. They both beasted, i think i barely avoided OCVage. Anyways we lost to Borkoley. BOOO. All <3 tho. 3rd Strike Team tourney was craziness. We lost to Combofiend (Elena) and then Adolfo’s (Hugo) teams. Andy wins a round !! Best IBUHki. Finals of the 3rd strike Team tourney was too good. So much tension. Vic (dudley), Rockefeller (Urien) and Royce (hugo) VS Yi (Ken), pyrolee (yun), and KMA (chun). Highlights include when Royce is playing KMA, he wins a round and yells out: “There ya go fucking turtle !”. hahaha. too funny. Team top tier (ken/yun/chun) ends up winning in a ton of hella good matches and after they win. Pyro yells out “YOU SUCK!” to the other team and the whole team runs outside of the arcade for a victory parade. hahaha. Fun stuff, hope its gonna be released on DenjinVideo. Probably the most fun tourney i ever been to other than the University Battles.
I stick around Family until closing time (3 aM !!! TOO GOOODD). Meanwhile Adolfo has a 50 game win streak with hugo on one of the machines… beast. Then me and andy head back to my friends room in irvine. Andy says hes gonna stay there too so we both head over there… only problem is that when we get there, I find out my friend thought I was STAYING in LA that night and he went to Riverside to visit other friends. Fuck. I call him and tell him to get back and let me in (all my stuff is still in his roooom). Me and Andy sleep in the car for like 3 hours. We wake up and my friend in an act of Jounin level ninjutsu tells me to go back to his room, where i find a piece of tape holding the door open and a bottle cap propping the outside door open for us. yay! We sleep there and wake up at 2 in the afternoon the next day. Except the tournament that day started at 12. GG… ?

Late night Cache Creek is top tier.
First I went to play video poker…end up went out cashing a nickel.
Next comes roulette. Keep hitting my usual Red 7 and after a while me and Danny decide to go all in (like 5 bucks) and during the spin I called “ZERO”, and I guess the robot inside the machine heard me and it took 5 bounces and landed there. We all get peaced out…then went to play poker.
Nothing special, get the usual ace and high cards, and my $50 get peaced out in 4 hands, just for the record I went out with AQ. CURSED!!
Danny took my spot and stayed till we leave. Profit: $3
Same dude got royal and straight flush, another lady got four card A with a king kicker and got some late night bonus.
Limit Holdem is so bad for me I actually went to play stupid war and blackjack to win some money back. These dont come easy either…
I have to go to war with an ace!! After a while my $5 becomes $40. Then it gets boring and I left to play blackjack.
I just feel like the ace really hates me tonight…I got a pair of same suited aces!! After splitting I break even with them and I am so shocked I sit out few hands and later I get pair of same suited 3s. I split and won them both. I left after 15 aces are gone and I also doubled up there.
I guess I am going to sleep now. GG Dead Day!

you play too many games ryan. limit holdem is tons harder than no limit. theres a lot less control over the game, and people will pay anything sometimes to see the river. and then you get rivered.

What Makes you assume its going to be the best, from what I hear the majority of the tourny is console based and a lot of top tier players in so cal are not pleased with this and may not even show up.
