LOL isn’t the gratification gained from beating somebody in an event that’s trying their hardest, from the fact that you beat that person at their best?? If I play Mickey in the playoffs he can use Ryu anytime he wants. Because I want him at his best. And because I want to see that I can beat him at his best. But maybe that’s the psychology of a competitor…
This shit is laughable. Rules? Really? This shit has gone through so many changes (unexpected most definitely) and you guys can’t let this one slide?
If i played mickey i would demand he used pad since he never specified he was gonna use a stick, actually if i played mickey he couldnt even use a controller cause he never said if he was gonna or not, USE YOUR MIND MICKEY USE YOUR MIND
I’m more than happy to let Mickey play his best character but to outright say someone is in trouble for doing so.
**
Not so much.**
Ummmmmmmmm…What? There were rules stating the character choice rule and the 2 characters were out of consideration of upcoming evo. Season 1 had 1 character to choose and the were ZERO sliding of the rules on that point. The whole idea of the character lock thing is so there is some slight team strategy involved otherwise the team with the best counter picking skills/player will win. There was nothing about what controlling device you play on.
In response to Mandel. The ONLY other posted rules that have been broken are the ones concerning reshedualing and that was because the sudden loss of venue. And the response to the need for rescheduling had been equal amongst everyone.
Anyone who wants to enforce the character lock rule against Mickey it’s their right. They shouldn’t be looked down upon for capitalizing on an opponent’s mistake with the goal of winning in mind. Playoffs are serious buisness.
Everyone has to stick with their character choice. We spent 35$ to enter this thing and I’m sure there are a few people who aren’t happy with the characters they are using. But that’s the rules we agreed to, if one person is allowed to break that, than shouldn’t everyone be able to?
But more importantly, I would really like to know what kind of scheduling we are looking at. I can be there if it’s @ 8PM or so. Considering we were accommodating people that couldn’t show up earlier than 10-11PM last week, I would like to know if it’s possible for this to happen in playoffs.
One thing that really annoyed me are the teams who COMPLETELY FAILED showing up to play. 3 or 4 of the teams we had to play did not even bother showing up which is really disappointing. Yeah the venue changed, yeah we ran into some scheduling trouble, but to sign up for something like this and then kinda not care about it just saddens me.
It’s your money, I don’t care what you do with it, but in my opinion signing up for a huge seasonal team tournament and not showing up is like giving a huge finger to the community we have here.
I’m glad that we’re getting so many new people participating and interested in SUPER at Thursday’s dojo tourneys, and I encourage all of them to sign up for season 3 (if there is one).
I want people to understand the whole “Mickey’s Character Registration” ordeal. When TW2 was in effect, Frank asked me who my 2 characters were going to be. I told him “I’m kind of looking into Juri, but it’s a toss up between Ryu or Juri.” Frank then suggested that it would be dope if I picked up Juri. I remember saying something to the lines of “yeah, if I signed up with Juri, it would force me to use her.” From then on, I think that Frank signed me up with Juri and that’s how it went…So that’s the full story on THAT for anyone who says “your fault for choosing Juri lol.”
To Jared and Bokkin: This is not about “rules are rules” or “you should take your opponent out no matter what” or even “getting butt hurt”…This is a question of fucking INTEGRITY.
This entire event is in fucking shambles and people want to be so nit picky on THIS RULE of ALL RULES? People didn’t even get their money back in HDR…Rescheduling is out of the question…the venue has been completely lost…and yet who I use is the end all be all rule to choose to point out right now when someone requests something!?
I’m completely fine with the rules are rules comment, but the fact of the matter is that this is about your integrity! You were obviously scared to play my Ryu because you felt that you winning would have been compromised…fine by me, how about a money match instead? Let’s do THAT to end the fucking grudge. Because win or lose, I’d like to know who’s better, me or you…because you didn’t get to play me at my best and you’re fucking content with that…fuck outta here with that bull shit.
Mikhail, your own TEAM MATE questioned you dude…and I’M the one who had the miscommunication? Please…
This scene is fucking horrendous. This is exactly the reason why there is no reason to compete in this scene. If people don’t have enough integrity here to play a person at their best, it’s not a place that I want to associate with. Keep circle jerking fellow Seattleites, see you in play offs.
EDIT: Mikhail, you want to talk about the principle of “taking the event seriously” yet you won’t bat an eye lash to playing someone at their best? How “Evo Ambitious” of you to say such hypocritical things.
Mickey, I can’t really tell exactly who you’re calling out for a grudge, but just in case it’s me: I have no grudge man. I could have probably put it more elegantly like this: The fact that $1,000+ is on the line, and no joke, I’m pretty positive any person in the scene could put that money to good use. Hell, that’d be like a scholarship for school, and nothing personal, I’d definitely not want to lose out on that cash because I was cool with someone going back to a character that I may or may not have experience against.
It’s money, shit is important. If you guys think less of me for that (I don’t see how much less it could get at my current standing with people), but really the end result is still the end result.
Obviously this all came off badly from a miscommunication, what happened happened. No point in pouring salt in the wounds that needs time to heal.
Noobs… I’ve been saying that a lot more since I picked up cs again lol.
Mickey, it’s too bad you feel that way, but I already said what I have to say regarding rules, and I don’t feel the need to continue this conversation, please don’t try and push me.
Yeah, things haven’t went as planned, but you do what you can with the cards dealt to you. Frank said that the HDR money is being refunded and some people have it back, he said he’ll have my money next Saturday - I trust him, he’s the one that organized this entire thing. Rescheduling was allowed 2 weeks in advance as per the rules, and after the venue got moved to the dojo, there was a period of time where people were allowed to reschedule in less than 2 weeks because of that.
So you’re calling me out, saying that I was scared of your Ryu during tournament? You say that you want a money match?
Okay dude, how about we do a $100 money match next Saturday at the playoffs, first to 5? Your Ryu against my Ken.
First of all, Frank will be paying ME before he pays you…that’s a fucking fact truer than my next breath buddy.
Secondarily, you’re very lucky that I’m in the situation that I’m currently in regarding my finances…I won’t be able to play for 100 for a little while as I’ve needed to cover rent and bills for 2 houses for this month, but I’ll play you first to 3 for $20…
So put it simple it’s like this:
First to 3 for $20 = I’ll bring 20 on me
First to 5 for $100 = I’ll bring 20 on me…and 80 the next time I see you.
It’s your choice. Or hey…I could even just say that we’ll money match and not pay you! It’s what I like to call “lack of integrity” compared to a miscommunication.
First to 5 - bring $20 with you and $80 the next time I see you if I win… which shouldn’t be too much of a problem for me considering I destroyed you with my scrubby Ken in Tournament Wars season 1. Would you like a link to the video?
LOL at all of this. Too much Seattle drama over one little thing.\
If i was in this situation, I would let Mickey play Ryu. Even if a good portion of money is on the line, I would feel shitty beating someone who was hindered from playing there best. I want to beat the PLAYER, not the character. My two cents.
Jared: I don’t really know what the schedule is looking like either. Sooooo… I dont know.
