Two Questions/Observations about Ken vs Chun

I have used Ken’s axe kick on Chun’s wakeup and beat out an ex birdkick many times. I was wondering if this was just luck (say, in between her hits) or if it a sure thing. And if so, shoud you time it early or late (early = one hit of the axe kick lands, late = both hits land). It also knocks her down I believe.

Secondly, I have noticed that I have thrown Chun out of SA2 in the past. I have not tested this, but if Chun does a SA2 on wakeup, and you are right next to her and throw as she is waking up, will your throw beat her super? Or do you have to stand a certain distance away (say max throw range) and then throw then?

Chun’s SA2 takes a bit to hit and has very little start-up invincibility. Lots of stuff will go through it if you had a poke out right when she does it.

EX birdkick is fast but doesn’t seem to have much invincibility. I’ve seen Dudley c. RH trade with it before.

lol kokujin vs tokido

yeah, her sa2 has poor invincibility, almost anything will beat it.

do NOT use the toward + forward kick overhead with ken on chun on her wakeup. she can low forward xx SA2 easily before your hit even connects because she crouches so low. im a chun player and i do that shit all day on kens who do that, theres even enough time to connect the forward on reaction to seeing the overheard.
if you smell a a wakeup EX SBK from chun and you throw an universal overhead its totally dependent on the spacing on which way that will go. but if if goes her way she gets a ton of damage, and if it goes your way you get almost nothing out of it.
as for his roundhouse overhead I wouldn’t risk that either on her wakeup and its totally up to spacing at that point. properly spaced you could prolly beat the ex sbk but
there are better options for chuns wakeup.

the best thing to do against chun li if you predict an ex SBK is to simply block and then jab dp her in the recovery(or super if you have it), trying to beat it out with random moves isn’t consistent or safe.

If you have meter, mp dp xx super is the best option after a blocked ex sbk.

Do you mean toward and roundhouse or away and forward? Toward and forward is that stupid toe poke kick.

he means back+mk

Whenever I got to use an overhead on a chun with meter, I just UOH, to avoid giving her a free hit confirm.

But I don’t really reccomend going all out offensive on Chun with Ken when she has meter.
