TVC US version character changes (to be updated)

Doesn’t “re-record” imply they’re doing the Japanese voices again, instead of hiring English voice actors?

Music changes are lame - if they’re going to the trouble of recording new songs for the stages, why not spend those resources on recording songs for the new characters instead?

Here’s hoping 8ing is smart enough to use the licensed GGPO code Capcom has, unlike CoJ’s inaction with SFIV.

i think debating the semantics of rerecording isnt going to get us very far. regardless of what they’re doing, there will be new voices. hopefully they’re good.

i also hope there is a new shorty to use. i hate the current ones but feel that i really need to play one.

I don’t see why they don’t just keep the soundtrack the same. They’ve shown that the replacement songs are pretty awful.

There’s really no reason for them to make unnecessary changes like that. All that’s needed is to translate the menus, add characters to make up for not keeping Daimaoh, do rebalancing, hopefully add online, and add English voices (but with the option to change back, in case the English voices turn out to be poor).

Why they don’t just keep the music thing is beyond me. I don’t remember XCOTA, MSH, XvSF, MvSF (with the exception of Norimaro), heck, even MvC1 containing a full japanese song even with japanese lyrics on it getting their content edited this hard for an occidental release…

Maybe they just want to get a feeling like MvC2, but this is ridiculous…I thought for a moment we were going back to 90’s with TvC and its gameplay feeling from the good ol’ VS series :confused:

BTW If I would listen to these same WIP songs in MvC2 instead of TvC I wouldn’t be this mad about it XD, seems to fit more on the 1st one rather than its jazzy OST.

The character-specific themes are the best part of the game.

Hopefully they are just adding new music, changing the old music is a colossal waste of effort at best.

even though I liked the jazzy music =P I agree that they should keep the japanese version songs, they kick so much ass and gets me hyped each time I play.

I hope they add a feature to change the voices AND music…so please you guys that go to EVO get together there and demand for the original music

To those who went to Evo, what are the changes to the engine?

Throws are useful now (RoyalFlush/ll.nd)
Characters fall faster now.
Megacrash pushes up and away.
Megacrash combos are very limited due to the engine changes. (RoyalFlush/ll.nd)

RYU
Hurricane Kick © no longer combos after wall bounce. B version still works.
Ryu appears to have been left alone for the most part. I notice no functional differences.

MORRIGAN
Stronger normals and LVL3.
Moriggans dashing 2B infinite no longer works.

Sorry guys. I did not play ANY Batsu at Evo.

KAIJIN NO SOKI
Shoulder Ram (A) has no super armor but combos after 5C and 6C.
Shoulder Ram © now wall bounces.
Oni Transformation has no super armor.
2B combos into 2C.
Soki has been sped up significantly!
5C and 6C both have a really cool slowdown effect that makes you realize just how hard Soki is whacking the opponent.
I could not land the Karas/Soki OTG infinite in this version.

SAKI
5C is now cancellable!! You can now do 5C xx 421+A/B/C xx 234+ABC for a fairly safe S-Gun charge.
J.C is also cancellable allowing her to control space very well with J.C xx 421+A/B/C.
The unblockable version of 5C can be cancelled into 3C for some very damaging aerial raves!
The unblockable bullet chain (Unblockable 5C - 5C - 2C) now does around 15,000B damage as opposed to 18,000B damage.
6C causes the opponent to stagger step and combos into her 214+A/B/C grab! Her assist has not been changed to follow this pattern.
Saki seems VERY good in this version and will probably see some serious play in her current configuration. Great job CAPCOM!

CHUN-LI
Lightning Legs now pushes back.
5A - 5A - 5C xx Lightning Legs Infinite no longer works, although TrueGamer was able to land (5A - 5C xx Lightning Legs) two times after Houyoukosen
J.C - DJ.IAD.C - TJ.IAD.C loop still works. It feels a bit easier to land now. Aerial C cause more hit stun??

Shoulder Charge (A) leaves the opponent grounded, (B) knocks down, © cause wall bounce!!
236+C does 18,000B+ damage and is still unblockable! This may make PRO-WRESTLING a contender.

YATTERMAN NO-1
2C has a smaller horizontal hitbox.
Yatterwan replaces Yatterpelican for 2P color.
623+A/B/C all have more recovery. Charge 46+A/B/C /\ J.B - J.B - 623+B - J.B / J.B - J.B -623+B - J.B infinite no longer works on the Giants.

TEKKAMAN
Charge 46+A moves across the screen VERY quickly now. As fast, as, if not faster than, Ryus 236+C.
Due to the change in the pursuit speed, 3C /\ J.B - 28+C - 28+C no longer works. Modifying the air combo slightly may fix this.
236+ABC does WAY less damage now.
Tekkaman still cannot DHC into his teammate.
Tekkaman has been sped up some.

DORONJO
214+Attack seems a lot faster! The rock comes out very quickly.
623+Attack is faster as well.
J.B got NERFED!!! Has lesser range and the mid-screen re-jump (B) combo no longer works.
Its harder to land 423+B when the opponent is jumping in now. You have to dash towards their position and do the far grab to land the Grab-Tree-Taunt loop.
Her moves now do more damage! Probably to accommodate her combo nerfs.

IPATTSUMAN (provided by RoyalFlush)
-Ippatsumans 623+Attack has same properties as Kens 623+B/C.
-Ippatsumans dash~623+attack has same properties as Kens 623+B/C.

also remember. opponents build more meter while being hit. like, a very noticeable difference in meter building. i was bullshitting with karas ryu, and i was just hitting the fuck out this guy, and my meter was building so slowly, and he was like half a meter behind me. if i had 3, he had 2 and a third. it was a change we wanted though, but eh, i was kinda like, wtf.

baroque does nowhere near as much damage as it use to. i had death baroque in one match. like, if i hit you with this 40 percent baroque its a wrap. hit him, did long ass combo, and yeah, no death.

so far, i probably wont be playing the american version of tvc, which is disappointing. i mean, there could have been maybe some small character changes in hand, but really, we just needed better ways to deal with peoples bullshit. universal snap backs, build meter faster when getting caught in bullshit, which they did, but you build meter faster, and now NONE of the bullshit exist.

air combos feel clunkier. like a basic launcher with chun to a, b, b, c, up b, c, up b, c, c, was not comin out with ease. its like your playing with lead weight in the air. lol.

depending on who they add to the roster, i might consider playing it, but its not what we wanted. if they properly took the time to analyze the complaints, and what people are doing, they easily could have still gave you the characters you grew to like, and develop shit for, but also give you a chance to enjoy the game a bit more by not dying off one loop.

did anyone test if you could megacrash a megacrash? they should have taken that out in my opinion. im 50/50 on it maybe. its not a huge deal, because you cant combo after it, but you use those 2 bars to get someone out your face, not have them crash back as soon as you do it. lol. more thoughts on u.s tvc later.

oh, and i wish i could have tested the character switch in counter thing, to see if they made any changes to it. i know yaris said he couldnt do they megacrash combo with karas like you use to.

charge back, forward, b, to u/f, a, b, aaaa, bullshit does not work anymore, and i did get a cr. a to hit after charge back/forward, b, but you have to use the a version now if you wanna get any extra attacks after that stagger. you can still combo level 3 after stagger though.

i agree, 5b didnt feel like the old 5b you just spam and it had like a magical extended range. lol.

the timing is different on his charge move to. assuming they had to change that so you couldnt combo it, because there were soooo many times where it just didnt come out, and then i started playing with my timing, and i hit it more consistently, but it is noticeably different.

played her a bit. should have played more. she feels clunky, but overall the game feels clunky. i thought it was the tvs but it wasnt.

They could still tweak it. It’s just the current build. They’ll probably still ask in EVO on what to change.

Aw, megacrash grabs got removed off PTX…oh well! At least he got numerous other buffs to make up for that. No more unscaled infinites! Woohoo.

We played some batsu and ken, but there wasn’t anything really different about them than what we already know now. Although, we didn’t get to try the ken infinite but it might as well be gone too.

The karas/ippatsuman otg inf is gone too.

PTX’s rockets have been nerfed. Once fired, the rocket would wobble around a bit before hitting the opponent and even then it only got one hit from behind. It was quite disorientating to land a lv 3 after.

Saki was a beast as was, and they buffed her… excuse me while I cry tears of absolute joy. I’m not too happy about the Tekkaman debuffs but my team’s still looking strong. Saki/Tekka FTW.

Those Karas changes are ridiculous, I thought “well it’s ok if they remove the slide infinite…As long as they keep him just the way he is”, but now he’s just sort of a joke.

Not the same MC combos, normals and moves getting nerfed at this point, c’mon…At least give this guy more stamina XD.

These tweaks makes the game a different one more like just an updated version.

Like I said, this is TvC for babies. The new character is really going to have to be good for me to want to pick up the U.S. version.

I’m pretty much all about the new version from the sounds of it so far. I really didn’t expect the pelican to get taken out! And it sounds like a lot of characters I liked playing are getting some decent buffs, so that’s sweet too.

Honestly, why all the crying? Oh no, it’s a different game, one that people may actually play past the 2nd month.
