TvC stick -- worth it?

I’m using the Gamecube controller right now, and although it’s a lot better than I expected, it does leave a lot to be desired. Is anyone else having trouble with consistency using it, or just me?

I’ve been convincing myself I don’t need to spend money on one, but I’m getting extremely fucking tired of doing my 6C instead of [4]6C on Tekkaman, among a slew of other obnoxious screw-ups that cost me more matches than I can tolerate.

Which sticks do you guys use? Which would you suggest? Do I just need to practice execution more and keep the GC controller?

There’s only one of these out now for the game. It’s called the TVC fightstick.
Alternately, you could use a ps2 stick and a ps2-gcn controller port converter (the kind that came out in the cvs2 days).
I would think any stick used for marvel 2 would work since it’s versus series.
Also, try asking in the newbie saikyo dojo about this.
Finally, I would presume that the classic controller is a bit better for fighters that aren’t smash, seeing as how it is pretty much a mimic of the ps2 control pad.

Apparently people are having problems with the TvC stick having disconnect problems, that’s madcatz for you. I use the wii hori stick, also yeah, like TNB said, there’s converters.

I’ve been thinking about buying a TvC stick too, only if you can program ABC into one single button. Is it possible to do that?

Couldn’t you just adjust for that in the game’s controller config?

Yeah, why wouldn’t you be able to? The stick has 6 face buttons, so you can use the 2 extra ones for taunts/ABC or what have you.

So far I’ve had 3 out of the 8 buttons malfunction on me. I had to scew open the bottom and rearrange the buttons a number of times. Other then that, It’s something you ought to get. The GC controller’s awkward buttons and small d-pad make it inconsistent to use, and the CC’s d-pad doesn’t tend to diagonals very well. I recommend getting some replacement parts for your fightstick if you decide to get one.

I’d buy a PS2 stick solely for compatibility. Go the converter route and pick up a PS2-GCN and a PS2-PS3 converter.

Like M.D. said I have heard that the buttons on these sticks are pretty prone to failure.

I haven’t had any issues with the stick so far. And I’ve had it before the game was released.

Just got mine yesterday. Loving it so far. I’m pretty new to arcade controls, how are the Sanwa parts better? Is it mostly a matter of joystick sensitivity? I noticed you need to get pretty close to the gate to register. Still, the stock controls seem pretty fine to me.

The stock TvC stick is better than the standard SE garbage. The joystick is pretty legit, not as good or precise as a real JLF, but considerably better than most knockoffs. The buttons don’t fail as much as the SEs. Also all the parts are replaceable.

That said getting a PS2 with adapter stick is the best option

I’m using a 10 button ps2 mas w/ adapter but certain times I experience horrible input lag on versus/single player matches on HDtvs. Anyone having similar problems and know of a solution?

did you get the HD cables for the Wii man, they help a lot and if that doesnt work then may be converter or something else.

I’ve been playing on the new “classic controller pro” that just came out. This game only having 4 buttons makes it pretty playable on a pad. The layout on the gamecube controller was terrible, it plays much better with the classic controller.

I still wish I had a stick but, It’s not worth the money for 2 Wii games that I really only play occasionally (GG AC+ and TvC).

I use a GC pad for this game

I fucking rock

I assume they’ve improved them since the Japanese CC Pro’s then. The original CC Pro’s had essentially nonfunctioning d-pads.

Hori Stick is pretty good to be honest. 40$ if I recall.

But if you’re interested in fighters outside the Wii, I would find a way to get your hands on a PS2 stick.

TVC stick is pretty good. I’d say it’s better than the Wii Hori based on parts, it’s easier to mod, and it’s a lot hard to accidentally set a turbo setting to on, haha. Plus since you can change the stick input, it’s better for other types of games, like Star Soldier R, that only accept one type.

I snagged one, and am satisfied with my purchase.

It’s definitely a good purchase. I’ve used mine for various homebrew, and buying a Mayflash Classic Controller->PC adapter makes it so I can use it on PC as well.
The adapter also makes it work on the PS3 too. Haven’t had any issues. Too bad I can’t use it on the PS2 (outside of emulating a PS2 on a PC anyway), but I’m satisfied at the build quality and being able to use it for Wii/PS3/PC games.
