TvC Padhack Choice: GC or Wii Classic?

Title states it all, if your goal was to hack a pad for Tatsunoko vs Capcom on the Wii, would you choose to hack some gamecube controllers or Wii classic controllers? and why?

Im thinking classic, so I know it will work with more a variety of wii games and can be semi wireless.

Any links to the classic pad hack?

ps2 is the choice. get a ps2->gc adapter and use it on your wii. it also allows the stick to be used on a ps3 dc and cpu.

I’d use a GameCube controller, so you could also play Metal Slug Anthology on Wii. Be sure to wire the analog stick to the joystick though, because for some stupid reason MSA won’t recognize the Cube D-pad.

Hmm to do that I would need a resistor to replace the pents right?

Not a big deal to have dpad only tough since I have Mame on my PC and a I-PAC already wired to my CP. So I have like 6 Metal Slug games on Mame.

I was reading up on the classic controller seems its not so simple as the buttons have a dual analog & digital reading so that means Gamecube is the way to go.

PlayStation is an option I guess but then I would have to find and buy adapters raising the cost.

I agree with James123. The converters for PS2->GC are really good as well so I see no point to hacking a gc pad which would have limited uses.

Waitwaitwaitwait, how do you do this?

I didn’t miss some awesome huge breakthrough, did I? If you or anyone else knows how to hack a Gamecube analog stick they need to post that shit up NOW.

Analog sticks are usually four potentiometers or something… maybe it’s two, I dunno. Ain’t nothin’ digital going on in that. Can you put resistors on them the way you wire up 360 triggers???

This kind of stuff was pretty heavily discussed around when Brawl was released, but nobody ever came up with any solid conclusions as far as I recall.

Could the analog be hooked up to the Seimitsu LS-64 since that sick is also analog?

I think you answered your own question.

There are so many versions of analog. You got potentiometers, optoresistors, hall gates… Also for as many types of analog, you’ll have different signals as well.

Now… in the interest of intellectual integrity. I’m not saying it WON’T work (because I don’t know that for a fact). What I’m saying is just because it’s Analog, doesn’t mean it WILL work.

I’d lean classic as well. Semi-wireless is nice. Not all games have GC support.

Although, if you want my complete opinion… just buy a Hori fightstick.

$20 on CC
$25 on decent joystick
$10 minimum on buttons
$?? Labor

I see Fightsticks for $40 some places, and they’re just as good as your normal 2nd tier Hori stick (EX2). If you wanna mod it, go for it.

So was the wii classic controller with analog hacked to the fightstick?!

Thanks for necroing the thread.
There no need to hack analog…

Get Toodles PiiWee PCB instead.
