i’ll say i’ve played 1 match out of half a dozen that was nearly baroqueable…meaning i could actually do a fucking combo! all the others are like im playing some button masher. its too hard to be at all precise. i have ports forwarded and DMZ’s. i’m going to try that damn adapter soon.
I played a bunch on Tuesday. Now, though, any time I try to get a match on Ranked it takes upward of 20 minutes to find an opponent.
edit: DMZ?
So I just had a super laggy ranked match online that was ridiculous. It litteraly took 7 mins for the game clock to go from 99 to 97 (i was keeping my eye on the time). After being patient for a long time I finally decided to pull the plug (I’m corded by lan btw) cuz neither of us were getting anywhere. Little did I know that when I signed back on, my win percentage went from 97 to 88. I only had 1 loss so that’s really strange for it to drop down that steep. Also, I think it demoted me back to super ace at the same time :lame:
edit: ok so after winning a bunch of times over and over again on the same person in ranked, it randomly gives me a demotion risk. Wtf is up with this ranking mode? On top of that, the opponent rage quit me when i beat him on that round…
You must not play Brawl much. Everyone knows Brawl’s wifi is the worst we’ve ever seen. =/
TvC’s wifi is the best the Wii is going to get (besides MH3), just make yourself use less bandwidth on your end and depend on those on the other. I’m on a wireless connection and I’ve had fine matches so far, from people across the country and close. Port forwarding doesn’t do much to help lag, dunno about wired connection. I used wired a while back.
Get a LAN adapter, everyone!
Well, either way, you can’t be protected from ragequitters. I just get 'em by bunches; people really don’t like giant characters.
damn ragequiters
i was at 26-0
i beat some high ranked player like >2000
he ragequits now im at like 96% win ratio instead of 100%
Random matches seem to suck but friend matches are usually fine.
Nevermind. Just forwarded the ports on my router. Gonna play some games and see if it made a difference.
Putting my Wii into DMZ mode through my router seemed to make a considerable difference, I highly recommend it.
I’ve played maybe 10ish matches online and will most likely not be playing online again. I could feel the lag every time and can see myself start develop some really bad habits to compensate for the lag. I haven’t, however, tried to set up a friend match with someone in my area. Maybe it’s not all that bad.
On top of a wired connection and port forwarding/DMZ, use OpenDNS. It’s a faster DNS than most ISP DNS. All you have to do is designate their DNS in the connections tab. No signing up, no charge, nothing. It’s faster and, from what I hear from tech savvy people, is safer than ISP DNS. Every little bit helps.

Does anybody know how to dmz your wii when your connection is wired? I looked everywhere, i cant find a solution.
You need to assign your Wii a static IP through the connection menu. Then log into your router, go to the DMZ list and add the Wii’s IP.
Every router will have different methods.
I have a Buffalo WHR-G54S and to be honest setting up the DMZ was a HUGE pain in the ass. I hate Buffalo now. :wasted:
Does the “domestic” search option only search the country? At first I assumed it was like region (in this case EU), but after finding nothing on domestic for such a long time now… Is it really searching only the country? That sucks for small countries like this.
No problem finding something on worldwide scan.
Was using an adapter. Didn’t know if other player was usingn oe too, but there was noticable lag.
When I chose domestic, the graphic showed the whole of the Americas. I don’t know if that is indicative of the search parameters or just a graphic. The interface is cryptic in some ways.
Unfortunately, both players must have a good connection in order for the game to be smooth. Even worse, very few Wii owners are wired since it requires external hardware and most gamers seem to be resistant to that.
I live in NY and played with someone in GA last night. With my wii about 3 inches away from my nintendo usb wifi device, there was some noticeable delay but it was very little. Not enough to matter unless you were doing a very difficult combo. Then i moved my wii about 6-7 feet away from the wifi device. The amount of delay increased quite a bit.
The guy i was playing with told me he did not notice any changes. So yea, it seems some lag is 1 sided. That also means that getting a usb lan thing is going to help you a lot even if your opponent is using wireless.
I live in the United States, with Domestic selected, and I have had a few matches against South Americans. So I’m guessing it’s, like, this entire hemisphere.
I’m wireless and as long as you DMZ your wii, it works like a charm.
