I’m just saying Blade and Zero can perform the glitch. I’m not saying it will be useful for them. Saying the glitch doesn’t apply to them (or that they simply can’t perform it) because it has no use is misleading, and I just wanted to set the record straight. Someone may find a use for it, even if it seems useless for those characters right now.
As for Roll, I didn’t try for very long because I wanted to get through all the characters quick, but thanks for clearing that up. Now I’m even more convinced that a second wavedash should be possible right after the first one to increase momentum even more! Seriously, somebody test this out.
SDash guys.
Its like super dash but its also the first letter of smurve’s name :3
edit: I’m almost positive that you can SDash after an SDash, either that or my eyes are playing tricks on me
But I think how it works with the 656595 is that the initial 6 input contributes towards the first dash, the second 6 is part of both the first AND second dash, so that would explain why just going to 95 after the second 65 works (since you’re putting in the second part of the dash command with 9 while also doing the necessary jump input).
And the best way to explain the input, I guess, would be to dash (6565) just like regular, wait some (character dependent) and proceed to input 95 AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE. The reason you sometimes jump after dashing is because you held down 9 too long. Its like, hold it down as little amount of time as possible for you. It takes a while and some nimbleness with the GC controller but you get the hang of it soon enough.
Also, if you’re using the analog stick for this…don’t. The dpad is soooo much easier due to it only having 4 directional inputs as opposed to the analog stick having 360 degrees of input.
Wait Keits what are you talking about? You can still crouch cancel a lot of the characters dashes for wave dash-esque stuff. It definitely works on backdashes and I tried it last night and it works for polimar.
I really don’t think this is that big of a deal though. Just try doing two dashes with polimar and then try this… it’s not THAT much faster. You’re still gonna get hit in the face if they air dash at you, throw a projectile, an assist, and poke with a lot of active frames… etc etc.
btw for the executionally challenged, try just doing a regular dash, waiting a second, then tapping 9. Nothing fancy, no weird inputs. Just dash, wait, press 9, release quickly.
Wouldn’t this be alot easier using the 3 buttons to dash, then the jump input?
Someone said it was possible, but everyone keeps giving detailed explanations for 669 inputs. Seems like Like [ABC]9 should be alot easier…
I was trying to do this last night on my unmoded Hori stick for a while, but couldn’t get it. I figured I’d misread how it goes or something but it seems not, I just wasn’t able to get it down. Most people seem to say it’s real easy with the stick input, though.
I’m pretty sure you can’t do this glitch with ABC, and here’s why: When you do the 669(6) command for the whatever-the-fuck dash, and you mess up and get the jump, you can see your character accelerate for just a split second before they leave the ground. When you do it with ABC, they don’t seem to accelerate at all. So, either there is a tangible difference between ground dashes with 66 and ABC, or a different method is necessary to do the crazy dashes when starting with ABC.
While some characters will benefit from the added mobility, it’s not like this is gonna radically change the rankings. I mean, it’s not like Tekkaman Blade will suddenly be shit tier because he can’t use this effectively.
Could someone make a video of thier hands doing this on a stick, the multiple explanations make no sense to me. how fast do i do it? I’m trying with Polimar and Tekkaman btw.
I think you have to hit the 9 of the 65659 right when your character starts to slow down from their initial dash. Can’t help you with stick-specific advice though. I’m using a CC and have the most success with 656569.
oh my god i jsut got it with tekkaman haha, you told me the right timing dude, thank you. Oh btw im all for calling this smurving, i like the word and it gives credit to the person who put it out there.
you can do this with ABC, but you have to do a forward before the upforward. its ABC >> forward >> up+forawrd. The way im doing it, the first forward after the ABC takes the place of the pause after the typical double tap, making the motion more seamless.
If it helps anyone, here is how I do it on the TvC stick:
Tap forward twice, then consciously let go for a second (if you don’t go to neutral after the dash, it won’t work). Then, starting from 9 (up-forward), slide to 2 (down) kinda how you would a QCF motion. This works every time.
Interesting. I guess this makes roll’s assist comparatively slightly better? Although it seems like the largest application of this tech is gonna be for making more followups/punishes possible. Faster approaches are great and all, but it’s not like you can’t respond with a poke if someone tries to rush you down.
I don’t get the big deal with naming this, though. Wavedash, superdash, whatever. Either is descriptive.
Actually, they have patched games before, by updating the IOS. I know that at least the conduit had a glitch patched this way.
