lmao…good good
See, as much as I love to play the whole ‘lets learn to counter him’ game, I’m convinced the system acts so much in his favour that every team will have to be based around him. How are you gonna get that precious hit with a character other than Karas, when he builds meter faster than anybody else in the game? 2 meters = no damage for you.
I’ll let you guys solve it all and I really do hope you come up with some good stuff, which I will then steal and use. But right now I have no interest to play the anti-Karas game, when I know using Karas is >>>> than anti-Karas tactics.
PS - O.Sagat wasn’t broken.
you’re broken.

marn [karas/*] vs jwong [jun/chun]
Okay… I gotta see more of these vids. JWong factor seemed to dominate that match, so nutty. I wanna see how other people did against Marn’s Karas, but I gotta say he didn’t do anything that you weren’t doing before other than adding in a c.A during the juggle combo just because he felt like it. . . .
TvC hype is back!
things I learned was that you should go for the jump block when you get the chance. Also a double jump + dash seems to get over all karas’ ground nonsense. Also call assist as you’re escaping.
also, be patient and hit that lv3 combo
It looked like jumping push block has a LOT more pushback then the grounded one, which is the kind of system mechanic that you can expect JWong to discover/abuse.
Thanks for the vid link, Mike.
Hmmm I don’t think I saw Marn once try the following in his blockstring:
5B 2B (AG’d) 5C (2nd hit AH’d) 2B
The 2B stops jumping block because it’s a low hit, so it’ll hit you if you’re pressing 7 (up-back). I know because Rae kept hitting me with 2B in that situation.
I also noticed that, as expected, Karas’s damage only comes from his opponent getting hit while trying to escape the block string. Marn did maybe one mixup (dash cross-up) with Karas in the entire vid. So once we find a way to get out of Karas’s pressure consistently and safely, his dominance will take a big hit.
Further testing is needed.
he never uses the overhead, I’m confused. Maybe it’s easily punishable?
It probably is. IIRC, those 2 follow-ups (the overhead and the attack that goes straight through them) leave him sitting still on the ground for maybe half a second after the move hits. On AG I’m sure it’s definitely punishable.
I also noticed he doesn’t do the slide (sonic boom) in block strings, period. Must mean that it’s unsafe if you AG everything. Which means we’ve gotta learn how to make it unsafe. :wgrin:
when I watched vids of the overhead, it looks so fast. I have no in-game experience with it.
It is fast, I’m almost convinced people just don’t know about it, because I’m sure overhead baroque into anything is the best way for karas to get a hit. It seemed faster than a tri-jump. :S
this game sucks
don’t even need baroque cuz it wallbounces if it hits!
Do you guys have any good alex vids from that tourney?
overhead is punishable, your better off doing the other one (which nobody does either), its done by charging back then forward + C, then QCF + C, then charge back then forward + C. Karas basically goes behind you. It’s really tricky when i can pull it off it always works. Many people say Kara’s doesn’t have mix up, but they don’t factor in all his moves. Just my thoughts though.
Ummmm, Keits has been claiming that a good Alex counters Karas, so I’m going to assume that when the vids are up you should see some Alex vs. Karas action at the least Something to do with advance guard 360.
I was thinking that that should work, but i lack any execution skills. My alex game revolves around landing the instant jump c and hope to god it doesn’t get blocked. Other then that its just a bunch of rush elbows to close the distance.
I remember seeing a good alex vid… lemme see if I can dig it up. it revolved around a lot of slashes and baroque cancels into massive damage.
friggen IAD C into super is stupid with alex.
