I need some help with the chun li matchup…
which option selects are you using to catch her backdash after a hard knockdown (cr.mk for example)??

I tried everything on training mode, nothing worked… maybe my cr.lp wasnt meaty enough, but I feel more comfortable with a later timing, resulting in a counterhit insteadt of hitting with a later active frame.

I tried:

cr.lp, cr.lp (cr.mk) (didnt worked, backdash is too fast and too far)

same for cr.lp, cr.lp (cr.hk) and cr.lp, cr.lp (s.hp)

also cr.lp, cr.lp (U1) didnt worked, same for cr.lp, s.lk (ex duck straight)…

Im out of answers, help please.

some backdashes are too potent for you to OS them, you have to make the read with f.hp or forward jump hk. The only os I can think of that would hit chun-li’s backdash is cr.lk qcfx2 lk + mk + hk. On block the target combo comes out, on backdash ultra 1 comes out

f.hp often doesnt work, because of the invincible frames of the bd … matchup seems 1/9 for me, impossible. same with rose

gotta time the f.hp right, it’s risky but if you delay it a little bit, it will even catch focus backdashes, just be prepared for the correct follow up. Against chun, your main pokes should be st.hk, focus attack and st.hp if you’re familiar with whiff punishing her normals. Have her do cr.hk and a few other pokes in training mode, practice whiff punishing her/spacing since this is your main game-plan, if you play against a good chun you also have to get creative when it comes to baiting out said normals. If it’s too laggy to whiff punish then you’re fucked, her execution is way easier and her dropped combos are pretty much unpunishable so it’s easier for dudley to make a mistake, she also has a goofy hitbox, besides those two factors it’s a pretty even matchup. In the midrange game you have to have better reads/reactions than chun but the payoff each time is usually 5 times greater in your favor. I’m cool with taking a few pokes during the phase of getting a feel for my opponent if the payoff is a st.hk into ex mgb, there goes a third of her life

Another thing (i’m guilty of this too sometimes) that makes it seem hard is leaving her ex spinning bird kick unpunished. It’s one of those tricky reversals where you have to have good reactions in order to punish it. As soon as you block it, go for a reversal mgb (any will work)

A good frame-trap after a blocked jump-in hk/hp is st (not crouching) lp into kidney blow. St lp will connect on fuzzy guard even if she’s crouching, which gives you an extra frame of advantage on block for a better chance of kidney blow to blow up her crouch tech.

On a successfully landed overhead, her hitbox is wonky so unless you’re point blank you have to follow up with cr.lk (plink lk into lp for easier execution) then into st.hk. Once again good luck if you’re playing in a sub-par connection online, chun players will get away with fucking murder sometimes

Does anybody know if
meaty f.mk, os lp mgb works against chun li as an option select? Cant try it out at the moment, and I always get lp shoruyken, which works against other backdashes but not hers ^^. lp. mgb would help a lot keeping up the pressure in close range

I will try to get comfortable with just f.hp . the added juggle buff is realy nice

It’s not out yet. Since you can’t play digital games offline I can’t have it out before Evo. going to have to wait until the physical release.


Use Dyken’s channel for set ups safe jumps, unblockables and.tech. It’s somebhigh level stuff. Tut approved.

I still think you’re better off going for a f.hp or a jumping hk if you think they’re gonna backdash if cr.lp chained into cr.lk+cr.mk doesn’t work. Otherwise you’re committing to an os that only gives you like 90 damage, hardly worth it

In the previous pages you said you changed your xbox , it’s probably because of that, when you download something it links to your console and your profile there is a way to move the console link to the new one, so you would be able to play previously downloaded game.if you buy ultra it will work for the method i will tell you tomorrow morning (i 'm in europe and it’s late )

Ok on the dashboard go all the way to the right on settings , select account abd then license transferring or something like that (mine is not english i don’t know the exact words) and you should now be able to play ae offline.you can also use this nethid to play someobe else’s games if he gives you his profile

No problem bro. Just watch AE and Ultra Changes then watch the c.lp part of blockstrings nd pressure.

Hit confirms was a really really simple video from 2-3 years ago about cobfirming c.lp into s.hk. It simply showed chained jabs and linked jabs and how to begin to use them. Blockstrings went further into detail with it with how to set up how to train confirming. Smug took it further with his stagger technique you may see him use with c.lp. (its basically what boxer does in his pressure. walk jab to feint grabs. Causes flinching ity minimal effort.

I had Russia in kind when making blockwtrings nd AE changes. everything that’s in hit confirms are in those two videos mate.

Also with red focus and ho machine gun blow confirm into s.hk xx MK duck upper as well. For grapplers go into lk duck straight so you’re not too close.
