Hit me up anytime

I’ve been forced into using him (trying to get ‘C to shining C’ achievement) and he seems very awkward and hard to use.
He’s much slower than I thought he was too.

I’m going give you the basic strategy of Sagat even some the most advanced players don’t know this as you will see them awkwardly jumping around trying create space and use Sagat’s limited priority. No knock on them they are likely far better combo masters then I but combos were never my focus.

I enjoy strategy and seeing a control character like Sagat do what he is meant to do.

First things first at the start of match walk backwards to gauge what your opponent intends to do.

If they are going to fireball you plaster them with a mix of speed of high fireball if they are really far throw a low in there too

If they jump at try to hit with standing fierce it has good priority and every fierce punch Sagat has hurts alot I mean alot alot

Which brings me to Sagat’s main objective

Low fierce is one of the few moves with Sagat the extends further than it looks and does crushing damage and has high priority

Low fierce is good whether it hits them or they block if it hits you get the damage and they get pushed away if they block still get pushed away immediately follow with a low fireball any work but I like to use forward fireball it ALSO pushes away at this point you are in the drivers seat

if they jump you have enough time and space to uppercut on reaction instead of guessing - newbies will do this alot

if they pause follow with a forward tiger knee it will be safe on block from this range

what to watch out for

some supers and ex moves go through fireball’s so if they have enough to super through only throw a short tiger shot and on some character don’t do it at all when they have bar

Other than that repeat this process and you will see a more controlled standing toe to toe competitive Sagat enjoy

Feel free to look me up as well; GT Tyeal.

A couple other useful tips for using Sagat, to add to Czar Howard’s list are:

EX Low Tiger Shot is your friend. Use it in a corner to set up for his Ultra 1, or do it from full screen to set them up for Sagat’s Ultra 2.

His f.HK is a nasty anti-air, you can use it twice in a row against a airborne foe, and can go into his Ultra 1 after the first, or second hit. Just keep in mind you have to predict when your opponent is going to jump, since it’s a step kick.

Practice his Kara. Sagat’s forward LK is a little step kick he does that hits low. That in itself is handy, since it messes people up. But, it gets even better when you use that same move to cancel into his Tiger Knee or Uppercut. Alot of people do whine about his kara, but they’re just sore losers. His kara is also a good way to get across the field, and the L. Tiger Knee is safe on block, so use that to help close the gap.

Angry Scar’s preference differs from player to player; I personally really like it, largely because it gives your Tiger Uppercut Armor Break. You can figure out whether you want to use an EX bar to up the dmg on your Tiger Uppercut or use the EX for something else.

Be mindful of his cr. MK as a poke. It doesn’t hit where you think it will; It connects at Sagat’s heel, instead of the front of his foot or his toes. st. LK is actually a nice alternative, and the first hit cancels into a Tiger Shot, but that takes some practice to get down.

Sagat uses the fastest projectiles in the game. Keep that in mind should you go up against a spammer.

That’s all the advice I can offer. Looking forward to seeing ya online ^^
