Thanks guys. I will do the key display thing. I am having a really hard time RCing that ball. I can rc hadoukens and other moves, but not charge moves. I’ll do what you guys said. Thanks a lot.

what do u guys think about this method?
I just lowered the speed of the game to 1 star
and tried to RC Bison’s
back, foward moves (jab/short) with negative edge.
The timing is really easy using neutral + roll.
i’m just trying to teach my fingers to release only 1 button instead of 2.
(release jab for psycho, short for kicks)
Once i get the timming right, i’ll move up a star, and repeat.
just be careful when u play at the arcade cause you might mess up your timming.
If you can RC fireball motions, then just do it like that. Charge DB or B, then just RC like it’s a fireball. It works for me.
I gotta tried that. I never thought about that. I can RC fireballs 8/10, so it should work. Thanks man.

For Rolento’s Knife, do you RC the leap up, or RC the actual knife throw?
You RC the leap, you can’t RC the throw, because you’re in the air, and therefore cannot roll.
You cant rollcancel a normal…
no love for gief? rc 360 tips!
Crazy stuff!!!
Nice thread tru3…I don’t use a rolling groove but i could use the practice against rc moves…
You weren’t hallucinating. There’s a trick to get guile’s FK to link after a c.short. What you were doing was kara canceling the c.short into the FK. A good combo with guile is c.short,c.short,FK and it’s performed by pressing d+short, d+short, u+jab+short. What you are doing is tricking the game into thinking you’re doing c.short, c.short, c.jab but then cancelling the first 1-3 frames of that jab into a FK. Normally c.short,c.short, FK is impossible but c.short,c.short,c.jab is possible. This is an old technique that goes all the way back to OG SF.
I saw this noted early in the thread but didnt seem to have an answer that was concrete. Does Gamecube version of CVS2 have roll cancelling?
You can Kara cancel a roll into a special move, yes. However, in the GC and Xbox versions, they fixed the code so that RCs aren’t invincible in those versions. You can RC on the gamecube, but you aren’t invincible for that 17-19 frames, so there isn’t much of a reason to.
gilley: That’s how I was doin it? Man, I’m so leet.
edit: removed whack shit about Gief RCs. Didn’t know what I was talking about.
Bump. People creating new threads. Needs a sticky.
Get Happs competition buttons on your stick, or something similar with very short travel. Makes negative edge roll cancels easier because the timing is more solid.
RC explanation
Please correct me if (but more likely when) I’m wrong:
RC is a kara cancel, so in that vein, you can only cancel from a roll into a move that can normally be cancelled into by, say, a normal move (am I right?)
Because you can cancel into special moves, you can RC them.
You can’t cancel into normal moves, but you can link them by waiting for them to finish then tagging another normal move on (see Sagat’s cr. hp or something). (am I right here?)
Question 1: Then why can you RC taunts? I have never been able to cancel a cancelable normal into a taunt…(maybe I’m just too sucky).
If I have been right so far (I highly doubt that) then would I be correct in thinking that you could RC into a super move? If so, my question is it is ever useful to do so? This is because many lvl 1 C-groove supers don’t have good invincibility.
Where’s the “noob” smiley? I need that for my sig.
RC explanation
I don’t know the full specifics on Kara cancels. Normal moves each have specific rules about what other things they can cancel into. I’m assuming there’s no checking on this for rolls, so you can cancel into all kinds of stuff (including taunts), except for normals which are not allowed to be cancelled by the code at all, to my knowledge (special cases may apply).
RCing into a super move is possible, but the stray invincibility seems to be cleaned up by the super flash. The game might be requiring invincibility data to be supplied for every super, although some supers just have none and the invincibility from the RC is still fixed.
How do I RC Ken’s FUnky Kick true?
funky Kick: half circle back, lk
I hear i have to use Negative edge…cept i don’t know what that is!
Eh man…you could read the earlier pages.
Negative edge is a button registering on the release instead of the depression. You have to register other actions (like directions) in between the press and release.
I got over this a lot on pages 5-6. Including exercises to do with Ken to work on it.
Happ competition buttons help a ton with NE.
