Your project has to be approved by their team to get posted, so you can’t just put anything you want up and try to get people to donate. I don’t think there’s been a major Kickstarter scam yet either, although one has to be coming.

With this and on a bigger scale, that Kony thing; why even work a 9 to 5? Anyone can come up with shit like this and live off the revenue aka donations. You don’t even have to try hard, just half ass it. If I don’t find my career going anywhere in the future I might just jump on this internet hype machine.

Pretty female characters -> Objectifying women
Average looking/Ugly female characters -> How dare you make fun of women?
No female characters -> Male dominated world

There would be. The problem is that she is going to show some real heavy bias or some shitty criteria for which characters get analyzed. The worse is when characters get ripped apart out of context. Let’s take the example of Chun Li:
Chun Li is was the only female Street Fighter when the game came out. The second female character was Cammy (who had more of her uncovered than Chun). In the next set of games, Chun Li goes from being half uncovered to almost completely covered except for her arms. The other females are Rose (who is fully covered) and Sakura (who actually dresses like high school girls in Japan). So what happens with this fully covered Chun? It becomes her go to alternate outfit for most of the games she is in.
Why the fuck would a covered Chun be so damn popular? It does not make sense and it will not get addressed by this bitch. Lara Croft is a bit overblown (save the tits) because hella women wear shorts when they go hiking. But whatever; it isn’t like there will be a fair treatment of any depiction.
I am trying to say that there aren’t some portrayals of women that are on the rediculous side ( I have slammed skullgirls more than enough for it) but the way she’ll treat the overall evidence will be lackluster and set us back to Mortal Kombat 1 days.
Edit: Beating that Alpha dead horse like a boss a bit further. The other female characters that make it are the dolls who are fully covered and R.Mika who is not. R.Mika has not been heard from again and neither have the dolls. But them other bitches just keep on ticking.
here’s the funny thing though. More than her story, which is honestly utterly trite (to the point that its just a given), the real story is in the outrage.
Her phone number got posted on the 'net, and people were giving her death threats and well, sexual assault threats.
So, not only are games sexist (they are, old news), but people overreact to an absolutely obscene degree when this fact is pointed out.
By going insane over it, they’ve given what would have been a stupid youtube series a million times more relevancy.

Well lets not fool ourselves, Sakura was pure fetish fodder. About Chun, you say it was popular, but also they changed her design away from the track suit. The alpha costume was totally my favorite too, but clearly plenty of people disagreed. And that’s leaving out games like DOA and Skullgirls, which were pretty much fap food for their art directors.

Or maybe game devs realize their audience is mainly male and as such make creative choices that would best market to that. Going by the vid posted here, it seems the correct way to portrayal females is to completely mute their sexuality to the point that they are unattractive, dressed in multiple layers with a giant neon sign flashing"girl power" every 2 seconds on screen.
I remember watching the video for the kickstarter. I felt some of them were a huge stretch, like the Christmas song one.

I found it weird that Shanoa from Castlevania was one of the people she had problems with. Besides the high heels and dress (Every freaking character in the series dresses classy as hell when killing monsters), she seemed like someone who didn’t seem to be a negative female. Would like to see what she says on that one.
